There is and probably never will be an end to the praise I give this story. However, I finally encountered a flub of sorts in episode five. I have been trying to figure out roughly where the story occurs since the first episode. At first, I assumed Los Angeles, given the obvious inspiration from Vampire the Masquerade. However, the world never seems to be as bright as I expect the city of angels to be at night. New York City gets scratched off for the same reason. But the most recent ideas put forward by the theory of Precolumbian contact tells me that this is certainly on the east coast of the United States. I am guessing we have a Gotham City situation. Regardless this brings me back to the flub. The shield, in particular the line that it is "9000 miles" away from where it should be. That is some distance, New York is about 4,800 miles from Greece, and Seattle is just over 6,000. So either we have a gross exaggeration of the distance to show that the character who said so isn't as smart as they seem (most likely), that the story takes place on a planet like Earth but much larger (yeah doubt that), or that the story takes place in Australia. Take out the line about Columbus and the like and that is actually quite plausible.
Yes, I just spent a good deal of my time finding distances from Greece and speculating on a plot point that actually doesn't matter to the overall narrative, everyone needs a hobby after all.
