But he has been in contact with the team , hasn't he? He's been out of basketball for like a year and he just had his follow-up appointment with the doctor where he was told that his career is over. Saying that if he tried to play another season he could damage his knee to the point of needing amputation. This is what we're told in the opening scene of the game.

And he takes a coaching job that was waiting for him because he already knew that was most likely going to be the case. That's it. What more is there to speak to the team about? He is basically retired now and cannot play. This is a personal problem of his. He simply wants more pills. And of course he's not going to talk to the team about that, right? It's not their problem anymore. I can understand if he was going to return at some point or something but he's 40 years old with a serious knee injury. He's done
If the team interactions happened since then we don't know and MC's actions do not indicate it either. All I know is if I still felt as if I was still hurt from an injury I would contact them. It was an injury gotten while on the job and professionally/legally the team/league has an obligation to cover that until the doctor says it is done (best to my knowledge). Since we were not told that either I started down this thought process. I also know I'm overthinking this particular point.

My point is that it should be assumed that He has communicated with the team or at least doctor because he was injured a year ago and has obviously been through surgery and rehab and the only treatment he is on right now is pain pills. But the team wouldn't be in charge of that because he's not a player anymore. He is just simply dealing with the doctor. I'm just wondering how talking with the team change anything when they trust the doctor for that medical stuff. He's the team doctor. in charge of everything medical... So how could they override their own doctor. The owner will who probably doesn't know shit about anything medical? I'm just saying it wouldn't really make sense to override the person they put in charge of million dollar athletes. But yeah

Then that makes it worse that she chose to do what she did. Yikes... (unless you choose to cheat on her which would then make her justified after the fact... and most players are going to cheat)

(After re-reading her choice, it's even dumber to me now... like wtf is wrong with her? It's indeed an idiotic test despite her not looking for a separation, divorce, or an open relationship.)
----------
Oof, I had that happen with a girlfriend twice. The second time she asked for a break I said we should just break it off. She got super pissed, swiftly walked away and we never spoke again. No regrets from me.

I don't fully understand "breaks" in relationships anyway. I can understand physically separating for a while (to cool off from burnout, disagreements or other stressors) but then I'd still consider fooling around with others during that time to be cheating.
There aint no fuckin relationship where anyone can get any break or pause! You either are together or break it off or you are the biggest dumbass in all the world who will be cheated on 4sure! So don't be that one it happens too!

I'm not talking about the owner overriding anything he would be an avenue to get communication. The team is going to want all the information for their own safety to prove care was provided. With no dialogue we don't know if the concept of phantom pain/addiction has even been discussed. If the doctor thinks it is addiction other medication or drug rehabilitation should have been suggested. The MC again doesn't act like this is a conversation that has happened. There are a lot of assumptions to be made and I'm not trying to rock the boat with this.

Not a bad VN really but the choices are very limited. You get to collect +points and get one choice to be on a route or not but after that things are forced that I wish had choices. For example you are forced to get your dick out and masturbate to some rando's fucking, forced to fuck your wife while some dude is talking to you and watching, also forced to fuck your wife while she is on the phone and a few other things that I wish you had options for. (forced if you are on the girl's route)

The wife herself I find annoying though I did continue her route I really dont like her personality which makes it fairly easy to ditch her atleast. So much love for someone that put's phone call's and e-mails above her husband even during sex. Bad wifey.

And that's why I refer to her as a "thundercunt."

Is there eventually an end to the damn painkiller story arc? It's such a drag and just makes me hate the MC. I'm strongly considering giving up on this game purely over the forced painkiller crap.
I get not liking the whole addiction thing but you hate the MC himself because he was severely injured and needed powerful medication & now is developing an addiction which is so common. You must be perfect and never make any mistakes

No. The moment he started taking pills from people he knows nothing about is when I started to really dislike it. While I don't have a personality that is prone to addiction, I do accept that some people have that issue. But, there's a point where it just deviates into overriding stupidity. And, that, I do have a problem with.

I agree it's dumb but we're five episodes in and that is the only dumb thing he's done because he's contacted the doctor over and over again and hasn't gotten a response so he got desperate. I just think your comments have no sympathy for the guy or any people suffering from injuries who get addicted to pain pills. It's not like he's out smoking crack lol

But yeah I hope he can kick it and not spiral

When it gets to that point. the MC isn't going to be able to handle the job. And pro athletes are warned a LOT about the dangers (though a college coach wouldn't be tested like an athlete.)

Again, my biggest issue isn't even with him wanting painkillers. It's a problem, to be sure, but an understandable one. It's putting something in your body when you don't know what it is or where it came from. That is a great way to end up dead. Even failing that, the potential for an adverse reaction to it causing a hell of a lot of problems is really high. The addiction thing was, to me, annoying and not my favorite part of the plot, but I wasn't too irate until he did that.

Let's remember that he got the street drugs and waited to use them because of how hesitant he was and even took like half or something. So he was still trying to be smart even though he was being dumb lol. And getting the street drugs is how we get connected to Fiona. I think that was the whole point because up until then it has just been an annoying habit. He isn't really addicted I would even go far as to say. He's just kind of dependent on them. It's not like he's pooping them every 2 seconds or something you know. And she basically got him one bottle and says she's done after that and he says he's done after that so let's hope that's the case

Dude spends days or more, cant remember now with no med's, has almost no issue with his knee even when playing ball but still acting like a crackhead over some meds he does not even seem to need. If he was really in pain and suffering sure, but dude is not even taking some over the counter painkillers just makes the whole thing odd and very little thought to legitimize the whole plot point. Just for the drama with ex drug mule and mc's position. Just seems weak writing for something important imo.

It says his injury was a year or so ago so in that whole time he's been taking pain medicine. The point is that he's not in pain now. The point is that he was put on them because he HAD to be on them and they are HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. Why is that so unbelievable that someone would get addicted to pain pills when it happens to MILLIONS (assuming this is in the US)

And we've seen him taking pills from the very first episode so clearly it's supposed to be important to the story and now we are starting to see how it's affecting the story so I don't really understand how that's weak writing. If it came out of nowhere then okay but it's been there from the beginning. He has a problem with pills after being injured. Yes. You can say he's a piece of shit for that which is weird but that doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. We're beginning to see the effects of it and just have to wait for it to play out before we can fully judge

I also think it's weak writing. I like the game, but nothing about the painkiller setup makes sense.

His doctor is avoiding him for..weeks or something? for no reason at all. Which doctor do you know does that? Can't set an appointment at all?

Let's accept that unlikely situation, then the Mc should simply go and see another doctor. However he can't do that (we're told) because it's the club doctor and he is obligated to see him, even though he is retired and sports players often have private physicians.

So what does he do next? Does he go and get over the counter Panadol or Aspirin or something to allevate the pain (which he barely seems to have)? No of course not, he goes and buys meds from a drug dealer on the street.

It makes no sense. As I said I like the story generally, but I also hope the Dev scraps this addiction subplot.

The doctor does respond through the secretary saying that he needs to take over the counter drugs and he says more than one time that they do not work for him. Again, this is not about pain, he wants the prescription meds because he's addicted or getting addicted.

And I don't know where you're from, but if you leave a doctor and find a new one then they can easily look up your medical records. And him forgoing the team clubs doctor might start some suspicion which he wants to avoid as a new head coach you he even says all of this.

So he does something stupid, getting impatient and buying the drugs off the street, which he doesn't even take right away. (which addiction makes you do)

So every single thing you have said is addressed directly from the game.

One more thing, this game called REBOUNDING - which means trying to recover, LIFE - who's life? The MCs. We are following him through the troubles he's having in life from family to trying to find a new career and him dealing with the fallout from his injury. You can't complain when this is literally what the game is about.

I don't remember exactly what the secretary said so I take your point on that one.

Again, this is not about pain, he wants the prescription meds because he's addicted or getting addicted.

It's not established that he is addicted. That seems to be your inference. He keeps saying that he is in pain. The dev is clearly setting up an addiction arc, but he doesn't seem to be at that point yet.

And I don't know where you're from, but if you leave a doctor and find a new one then they can easily look up your medical records. And him forgoing the team clubs doctor might start some suspicion which he wants to avoid as a new head coach you he even says all of this.

And what does he have to hide from a new doctor? that he asked for meds after he ran out? Even if he is addicted that's all the more reason why he need a doctor's help. Doctors aren't in business of leaking their patients confidential information to the press.

So he does something stupid, getting impatient and buying the drugs off the street, which he doesn't even take right away. (which addiction makes you do)

Again it isn't established that he is that desparate.

So every single thing you have said is addressed directly from the game.

Nope.

I can complain because it makes no sense. For me Drama has to be handled intelligently and not just done for its own sake. The Rebounding Life title can refer to many things including the end of his career, his injury, the failure of his marriage, etc. That doesn't mean that he has to have a drug addiction and that I have to agree with it.

Obviously we see things differently and we wont agree on this. You do you.

So he has a serious injury that ends his career, gets put on powerful pain meds that are addictive and gets addicted = doesn't make sense. Got it.

We see him taking the pills just for stress now and to calm down. And him going so far as to buy street drugs and even relying on his player to get him drugs = not addicted or starting to get addicted. Got it.

The story is halfway done and we see the drugs starting to play an important part = the addiction isn't important to the story. Got it.

Yeah definitely not going to agree on this.
