Night Mirror I was reviewing a translation, and it seems that the guy uses the code [bt] , to make scenes shake with a flash of light, would it be good to use this code for some scenes, like the scene where Morty crashes his car on the planet?
The [bt] is string interpolation, so it is putting some text in there and is not related to the transition. The " with vpunch" and "show flash" are the shake and flash respectively, and Morty crashing into Unity's plant scene already exits with a vpunch transition (day 8, line 1249). Flash I'm not sold on as the game tends to already use a white flash for cumming, and I don't think this scene needs a flash.

Ahh, I see. So I guess Unity is a good animation platform software, for games use, then. I still don't know much about Unity or Ren'Py software, as I heard that Ren'Py is a very easy software to do when making a new visual novel game.
The right tool for the right job. I wouldn't try to build a platformer or a shooter game in Renpy. Yeah, it's technically possible, but I'd have to make all the parts from shaders to a physics engine just to get to the starting point of what Unity or Unreal has built in. At that point, I'm making my own engine and throwing away what most of Renpy has to offer.

Perhaps I could make my own version of Rick and Morty game? Based on Mirror's??? I would have to take some courses on animations, arts stuff, and some code, obviously. But I'm pretty much creative, though. So that won't be a problem. It's implementing the arts, animations, and the code into Ren'Py software platform.

Mirrors just transfers all arts from someone else, but the code he did, on a new Ren'Py software platform.

Man, I'm just thinking about the all the stuff I could do with my first game! If I could do my first game, that is.
If you want a starting point, all the game code is plain text python, so you can look over what I did to put this game together (Renpy is very straightforward as far as game programming goes (yes, it can be made more complex if desired, but it doesn't have to be)). A fair number of players already say they make modifications to the code, moving scenes around or changing dialogue to better fit their taste.

As I've said, pregnancy is coming at some point, I just don't have control as to when. If you want it a lot sooner, there is always the option of making a mod first and see how that goes (a LOT less work than making a whole game). But it's up to you what you want to do.

I primarily made this game for myself. Originally just intending to do only a few scenes, then I kept making more and finally just said fuck it, how hard can it be, and 6 months of work later I had version 1.0 matching all the Unity content. I shared it because I thought other people might enjoy it (had no idea if anyone would). A lot of players of the Unity game kept dropping out due to the numerous issues (one save slot, no roll back, no skip, a wandering mechanic that was often broken, scenes becoming inaccessible, a gallery not being kept up to date, wouldn't run on mac or android, and a HUGE file size just to name a few), but despite it's problems, I thought the art and story (mostly) from the Unity game were very good, and more people should have the chance to enjoy it.

Also, my art skill are... subpar at best. So while I'd LOVE to do my own game... I can't do the art side of things (and I'm not interested in a text only game).

I mean, as long it's related to Rick & Morty, right?
Specifically, most posts should have something to do with this version of the game (the main topic), since this is a thread dedicated to the Renpy game (the Unity game has it's own thread (and Rick and Morty have most likely millions of boards/threads/sites of people talking about it elsewhere)).

While some comments about the show are fine (inevitable given the nature of the material), this is not a discussion board for the show. It is easy to mix together the two, but again, it is not the main purpose of this. This thread already has 181 pages of people talking about lots of things (mostly game related), adding lots of additional off topic posts isn't helpful for people looking for specific information in the thread.

Hey, guys! Ferdafs responded to my requests for pregnancy for all females. Here's what he replied:

So basically, it's a NO for pregnancy for all females. How disappointing.

I mean, it's a PARODY, isn't it???

That's the point of a parody. I'm disappointed.
I am honestly (pleasantly) surprised you both got a response and how quickly it arrived.

I do agree it is disappointing that it doesn't seem to be in the works. But, looking at it from a dev standpoint it makes a lot of sense. You either have to: time skip, have some scifi reason the pregnancy goes by quickly, or have it stick around through multiple updates, content players may not want.

Yeah, but it's also a parody. It doesn't always have to be like the "show".

I could see Ferdaf's point, because adding pregnancy could cause issues, on a lot of things, and the patreons may not want it. But it's a also a parody. It should be funny and wild, in similar fashion in a way, like the show, but since it's a game, that should be little different, because it's a game, and not a show. In most shows can't show nudes, (very few do) or sexual aspect of things, like the a porn game does.

The porn game is an individual's interests in this type of game, and it's a parody. Some games are parody off of something. This one happened to be one, based off the show. With games, it's slightly different.

Alas, I may have to go into doing my own version of Rick and Morty game. Would you say Ren'Py software platform is the best option for a visual novel game?

the way is to wait, since morty has 2 official children, +1 in this game, the way is to wait and see what happens

Yeah, but I don't want to wait that long. I rather just make my own version of Rick & Morty game. I'm not going to press Ferdafs further about the pregnancy, when I can just make my own version of Rick & Morty game. So I should just do that. The only problem, is I need a book on Ren'Py software.

Absolutely agree that the game doesn't have to match the show (obviously with porn it is already different), although with this sort of content it can't stray too far away from the characterization and style, otherwise you lose the appeal of the parody.

Again, I can't speak to Ferdafs intentions, there is clearly a story they want to tell (and a slightly different one I want to tell), if not straying too far from the show is a goal, that is something I can very much relate to.

Personally, I think Renpy is one of the best VN platform out there (look across the site and you'll see most VN games choose to use it over other system). It has a great set of features such as: skip, roll back, multiple save slots that carry across updates (when you don't break them by mistake), a fairly robust animation system in ATL, built in replay, and a whole lot more. It also has pretty good documentation and support, both on this site and others.

Renpy is fairly easy to get started in and doesn't require very much programming knowledge. While there certainly are other systems (like RPG Maker or Unity or Unreal to name a few that quickly pop to mind) they all are built to do something other than VN games. And again, while you CAN for sure make them work, there is a large amount of extra effort required to get where Renpy starts.

Honestly, it's very interesting to see you discuss the technical aspects of AWH, and Renpy in general. I know practically nothing about programming, I could probably figure out based on what games use which system what each engine was designed for and excels at, but beyond that...

Anyways, so, now that you have a definite answer regarding impregnation in the Unity game, what does this mean for impregnation in AWH going forward? You've been pretty up front that you intend to have it in the game at some point, so how does this affect your plans?

Renpy has been a lot of fun to work with and learn. I've spent just over two years with it and (at least I feel like I have) come a long way from where I started with it. While it is great for making VNs, it's weakness is that it can't do much else. Again, yes, technically you could make other games in it, but you'd really be making them in python and using Renpy would be an odd choice.

Still for anyone interested in making this style of game, I think Renpy is a good starting point. There is very little programming knowledge require to get started (python is mostly English with some extra rules, and most of the time you aren't actually writing code-code), and there are lots of good examples out there (not many great tutorials that I found, but I haven't looked for a while). Since it is all in plain text (vs Unity or Unreal, that code requires disassembly to read, and is then in C# and C++) opening an existing game to see how someone did something is very straightforward.

Anyways, so, now that you have a definite answer regarding impregnation in the Unity game, what does this mean for impregnation in AWH going forward? You've been pretty up front that you intend to have it in the game at some point, so how does this affect your plans?
The short answer is not much of anything is going to change. In fact, Ferdafs not adding it makes it harder for me.

Here is the main problem: future story.

At the end of the day, I am still adapting Ferdafs story. Yes there are changes, and additions, but the main events are still very similar. I still need to be compatible with future story and future scenes. And there are two ways I can accomplish this:

I can keep my additions/changes minimal and flexible, able to work with whatever comes next (or at least hope I can).

Or I can know what comes next.

(or, or, I could make my own game, which is way beyond the scope of this project. I don't have the art ability to make that happen... (Also, this project was never meant to work this way. I'm not working full time on this game, I have a job, I do that most of the time, and this was just a for fun thing to do in my spare time (which hasn't worked as I planned and I'm spending a LOT more time on this game than I should be)))

Pregnancy is going to be current (or very close to current) story. Now I'm writing future story, I'm pushing forward plots that I don't know how or if they can tie into new scenes. And that is where the hesitancy comes from. Again, I'm adapting someone elses work and that comes with many limitations as to what things I can confidently move forward. I don't have control or knowledge of where the game is going and every time I advance story beyond where it is, I run the risk of it not working with new content.

Yes, I have my own plans of things I want to happen, and stories I've setup, but those have to be very flexible to fit inside of what Ferdafs is doing. And pregnancy isn't very flexible. Once we start down that route, there are some big things that need to happen. There are some major tone and character changes I'll have to address. There are big scenes that will be part of that plot.

And adding complexity onto that, there is timing for players. If a player has been cumming inside Summer from the start and get the pregnancy talk, no issue there. But what if a player only starts cumming inside her after that scene? Now there needs to be a second scene, or does the first scene play again? What about all the story related to her being pregnant? Or what if Ethan gets her pregnant (in the Unity game) and that becomes a major plot element? How do I reconcile that?

This is the main issue here, pushing beyond what is known. And if this was a separate game, not dependent on Ferdafs version, no problem, but it's not.

This isn't a line of dialogue or an extra/edited image, this a HUGE game branch, for each character. And now I'm making my own game, needing artwork for it, and large dialogue sections. Again, vs the main goal here which is to update every 2~3 months and keep it up to date with the Unity version. This is a for fun project that is by no means a full time job (though I keep putting in way more hours on it then I should be).

So... the short answer (too late), is that, for the moment, my plans haven't changed. Yes I want pregnancy (as an option). When I can safely do that and make it fit in the game is still a big, I don't know. For the moment, I can't see a good way to fit it into the current story that doesn't make things a huge mess.

Honestly, pregnancy having such a huge bearing on character progression is something that, while objectively obvious, I didn't even consider; shows my inexperience in the writing department I suppose. I appreciate your in depth and prompt response. Also, sorry this port is taking up so much of your time, from what I know about passion projects like this, that tends to be what happens, so try to not let it kill you NM. Or destroy your will to live...

Too late...

Seriously though, for the most part it has been a lot of fun. Some thing have been more tedious than I would have liked (fucking blinks...), but other parts have been surprisingly rewarding, and enjoyable, even the crunch time when updates drop is a lot of fun for me.

I have an unusual relationship with this game that makes it difficult for people to understand what it is I do/am willing to do. If it was purely a remake, then there are no story changes, just a different system. If it was my own game, then I have full control over the content.

But I'm in this odd in-between (fully self imposed) state of adapting a game still in progress while trying to add/enhance it as we go. I imagine that, from the outside, it must be hard to really understand what limitations there are (I try my best to communicate it, but can't seem to answer in under a million words...). Something that should be easy in another context is sometimes just not doable for me.

Bit of error during the first fascist portal jump. I left fascist names as default so fascist Beth is Beth and fascist Summer is Summer.

4. Click “Download” on the new website.
5. Wait
6. Save .zip file
7. Right click .zip file->Extract files->Location you want
8. After extracting, you’ll have a game folder, select the game .exe and run

Your first (kinetic?) visual novel! Welcome. It’s a type of adventure game that originated in Japan, but has become more popular in the west over the past decade-ish. This visual novel is a WEG or “Western Erotic Game” which means it has more of a focus on pornographic material and is made in the west (should be clear, if you’re here) it’s also a “Kinetic” Visual Novel, which means there’s more of a focus of playing within one set story, rather than branching paths (though, as far as kinetic novels go, this one does have a little more interactivity than none)

Here’s a primer if you’re interested in the idea:
