As a new account, I don't think you can post links yet. Copy/paste the file text inside a spoiler tag and I'll take a look and see if I can figure out what the issue is.

Android is a bit more of a hassle/mess:
Android 11 doesn't work!!!! Please fix!
First step is make sure that you have "Allow App Installation from Unknown Sources" turned on. I'm not some big publisher, and I don't run my release by big daddy google (and not on the play store) so my apps will be flagged as Unknown.

You may get an "Unsafe app blocked" message, with the button "Got it" at the bottom. Instead, click the tiny "more" button, and under that the tiny "Install anyway" button. Because of this whole process, if you are updating, google might comeback and say there is a conflict, in which case, you will need to uninstall the previous version. This will kill your saves, so you should back those up first (internet will tell you how).

Additionally, you can also allow "unknown" apps. The fastest way to do this is go to setting and search for "unknown", find the entry under "Biometrics and Security". Scroll down in the list until you find "My Files" (or similar) and set allow. This sometimes worked for me, and sometimes I was forced to uninstall.

If you can't get the app to launch, you need to make sure you have enough space for the system to unpack it. The APK is roughly around 1GB and it will take at least 1GB when installed, but you will need to make sure you have at least 3 times the space (3GB). I'm not sure why android does this, but I have seen it happen.

Lastly, if you can get the app to open, but it has some problem (either preventing you from playing, or crashing, or something) then I'll need some info to help troubleshoot the issue. The main thing I need is the log file, which you can find in:
/Internal storage/Android/data/com.nightmirror.rmawh/files/log.txt

This folder needs to be accessed from a computer as it is protected while on the device itself. Android version and device model can also both be helpful, but keep in mind that my "tools" for making the APK is only the Ren'py SDK and a single click button with limited setting.

It won't let me copy my log file unfortunately, followed a guide online cos I didn't know how to do it but what you need doesn't show for me

Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of support I can provide for android users. I make the APK because it is an extra click, but so far the platform has been... well, honestly a pain in the ass.

Without a log file, I don't have any clue as to what is causing your issue, and can't really troubleshoot the problem.

Again, the log file should be located at:
/Internal storage/Android/data/com.nightmirror.rmawh/files/log.txt

Which CANNOT be accessed from the device itself, but must be opened via a PC.

Yeah that is what it said and I don't have a PC, its strange because I've got the actual game on apk and that works just fine but this one is just not having it. No worries it ain't your fault, shame really cos I was interested in your changes and Ferdafs is really poor on when the updates are coming

Player Feedback Requested!

One of the best parts of this whole project has been getting great feedback from the player base on game related issues. I think it has really helped grow and improve this game beyond anything it could have been otherwise! So now, I call upon that feedback once again to help us decide how to proceed on a long term goal that we are struggling with! Let us know your thoughts and help us organize ours!
  • Goal: Full dialogue/narration pass to make the game feel more consistent across the experience.
  • What's changing: All days will get a looking over, not just for corrections, but dialogue enhancements. Additional vocab and descriptions, as well as possible changes to scene context (no plot changes).
  • What will you have to replay: Hopefully nothing, as the general goal is to improve how things are presented, not change them into something new/different.
  • What will be removed: A lot of word repetition and simplistic language choices.
  • What will be added: More diversity in words and actions for characters. Along with trying to help scenes feel more unique and less repetitive (both erotic and character scenes).
  • What won't be part of it: No new artwork, script changes only.
  • When will this happen: While we don't have a good time frame yet, the current answer is: not soon. It is a massive undertaking. We will most likely start with a few scenes and see what people think before doing the whole game.
  • What is being set aside to do this: Hopefully nothing. This is meant as a downtime task, not a replacement for any other work.
  • Add music instead, asshole: Sorry, still a no to the music thing.
The main reason we are asking for some feedback is that we're divided on if this should be done. Changing things that (at least seem like they) mostly already work is a scary prospect. But we are also aware that some of the play experience is very uneven right now (given the nature of the project). Are you excited at the idea of the whole game getting a new coat of paint, or does the thought of your favorite scene being touched concern you?

Anyhow, let us know your thoughts! And as always, thanks for being awesome!

This seems a bit foolish to ask. The audience will always support promises of general improvements since the audience isn't the one doing the work. There is no downside for them to say yes so long as the main content isn't delayed.

That aside, I don't really consider the current scenes to be so sacred that they are untouchable so I wouldn't mind changes, but I wonder if that time wouldn't be better spent creating new content. I don't mean new sex scenes that require art, I'm talking about new dialogue that isn't necessarily tied to current scenes. Personally I wouldn't mind more scenes with Morty talking to Morticia and/or Summer about unrelated topics. I crave more world building in between the daily hijinks so it doesn't feel like Morty is having a constant back-to-back nonstop chaos of a life. Other people might consider that to be boring "filler" though.

Also what is the current problem with music?

i pretty much agree with that - since there is no downside i would be for it

also i liked when u animated a few scenes urself (like the one in the shower) more of that would be appreciated :)

That is the main thing we are trying to assess here, how attached players are to the current dialogue/narration, specifically the words/terms used in it.

but I wonder if that time wouldn't be better spent creating new content. I don't mean new sex scenes that require art, I'm talking about new dialogue that isn't necessarily tied to current scenes. That's more complicated. While I do plan to continue expanding content throughout the game, that process will come more as a "when I find something I really want to do" as opposed to just add more to add more. At the end of the day, things I want to spend my time on have to be things I find fun and enjoyable (or have to be done to keep the game working).

Also what is the current problem with music?
I've talked about this pretty extensively already (and whenever I talk big changes, players (often) inevitably say, spend that time on music instead). But here is the short version (well as short as I can ever make anything):

If I'm going to put in music, I want it to fit and enhance the game, not just be generic background songs. I don't really like/enjoy most music in most games (porn and otherwise) and often end up turning it down or off fairly quickly. Music is a MASSIVE undertaking, and like art, not something I'm great at (no way I can compose my own).

Or, even briefer: not something I'm that interesting in doing, hugely time intensive, very minimal enhancement to the game overall, and I don't have the skill set for it.

i pretty much agree with that - since there is no downside i would be for it
It mostly depends how attached people are to the current script. Which, based on two replies doesn't seem that attached? It is something very hard to judge looking from the inside out, so your feedback on it is very helpful!

also i liked when u animated a few scenes urself (like the one in the shower) more of that would be appreciated
There are some new ones in the next update, and will most likely be more going forward.

You've done big improvement to the script/dialog already, but a complete overhaul would be an Herculean undertaking

Though there's so many things that could be done 'better', feels like lots of stuff were thrown in (by F) to support the wandering mechanic.

Excited to see what you'll come up with (y)

I'm not attached to any script and neither should the fans when there's a need for rewrites and improving quality control over scenes that require a finesse hand. It's necessary.

My thing about this project that I'm curious about is the objective here: this is a Renpy remake of a Unity ported game made by another creator of whom either acknowledged you or doesn't and then there's their inconsistent updating of their own game. I feel like the Renpy remake should be it's own thing using assets to build upon the Unity version and go off script, as it were, and keep things fresh and explore different avenues. We're not monetarily compensated for this project nor do we take away anything from the Unity version as both are a parody.

And given the nature of the game, we can say both are canonically accurate to the lore as multiverses mirroring each other but one does something different than the other. But still give credit where credit is due in ALL respects to Ferdafs for laying the ground work.

I feel as if Ferdafs shackles the progress of Renpy when they don't update theirs in a timely fashion and we could pursue alternative methods of getting progress without needing a full game to update.

I'm thinking we could commission Ferdafs to draw art assets and animations for the Renpy Remake that are custom to Renpy's version of RMAWH that isn't necessarily aligned to Ferdafs' Unity version. Ferdafs makes the game the way they want to and NightMirror and Aaron can do whatever they please with whatever timetables they want to set aside that doesn't conflict with one another's projects. Ferdafs gets some extra income from extra assets that get licensed to NightMirror (or whoever commissions the assets as a supporting patron) plus whatever Ferdafs gets from their monthly Patreon subscribers while still maintaining their copyright Renpy is freed from stagnation, Unity gets a boost in production value and glowing endorsements from fans of both games trying out either one. Obviously, there's alot not considered in this idea and there's surely many many changes I'm glossing over.

Chiefly among them is: who's going to be the supporting patron of this project willing to shell out for the art assets even IF Ferdafs even wants to in the first place or NightMirror & Aaronminus wanting to commit to such a task? Who can fill in the needed skill set necessary to apply those art assets? What if the projects needs extra hands, who wants to volunteer? Is it worth doing?

In the end, these are speculations and possible ideas that can be pursued if the developers want to pursue such a path in the first place. But it IS an option that can be considered for the long term for the Renpy Remake project and any foreseeable future in which Ferdafs may be unable to finish the game completely on their own (or NightMirror not having the time, energy, motivation or patience to continue the project in full earnest - we all have our personal lives to consider as well so I'm taking that into account.)

Ending my idea for future longevity, as far as feedback for the overall game currently, pretty much everything mentioned sounded great to me so I'm in favor of it!

I think an effort like this could be a good use of effort during the time in between updates. You could work on the general updates when they come out and come back to the overhaul when time or your motivation allows. Again, I agree with most people that it's a great idea, but I do see a risk of "getting lost in the weeds" with how much dialogue there is. My vote is go for it, but feel free to put it on hold when an actual update comes out!

It is what it is, limited by both my own time/desire and Ferdafs update speed. Even if I did get a full time artist, this wouldn't become a full time project for me. As I've said before, as long as Ferdafs keeps going, so will this game. And when the unity version stops, so will this project (again, if it's ever abandoned, we'll do our best to put an end on it). Just the nature of what this is.

As to making this it's own completely different game, again the answer from me is: no. That just isn't something I have any interest in doing. The main "goal" of this project is to make the unity content more accessible, and enhance it where we think we can, not to make something completely different.

Hey, I was wondering if you can add this image, it's just an edited version of the school library interior, just with the right pillar touching the roof of the room. If you like, I've added both images so you can compare them.

Sincerely, Soup. "You know, I'm something of an artist myself."

Thanks for the image, as it is only in one (maybe 2?) Scene I think I'll leave it as is for now.
