Even broader, it raises a question of where are all the moral porn games? Where's the ones where we play a well intentioned character forging vanilla monogamous relationships with healthy boundaries and mutual respect? They don't exist. Maybe Our Red String or something?

Dude SURELY You jest!

It's a reasonable question, but ORS is about as far as you could get from "forging vanilla monogamous relationships with healthy boundaries and mutual respect" - Well perhaps the Ian character is, but all his friends and love interests are pretty much universally on the other side.

I'd say "Come Home" is the best example of this style I've seen.

I've not played all of ORS, couldn't get into it that much. But the two main characters it felt like they were "nice" people who could be played in a bit of a lovey dovey way if you wanted.

Even Come Home has you fucking a cheating wife, seducing a woman who's engaged, the black girl pretty much gets with you just to humiliate her not-boyfriend, you're banging your therapist which is an unreal ethical breach, your teachers too. I mean, you're trying to find your Dad while attempting to nail his grieving wife. Not to mention your exploitative boss who sexually harasses you, and even if MC likes it it's mentioned how many guys have quit the job because of her previously. Also you get to nail your step-sister while hiding from her that you're also hitting her best friend (the best friend who promised your step-sis that she wouldn't).

I get that the interactions between the women and OP are generally respectful and consensual but...damn...we've got to do some real suspension of disbelief here to think he's a good guy, and the number of moral issues you're being asked to ignore stacks up quickly.

And...you're kind of right! Come Home probably is one of the best ones for healthy relationships, and it's still insane if you take a step back for a moment. That's what I was trying to get at. So when people then come along, see a game like Rightful Ownership, and are like "Damn, that's way too much" it raises a very good question of "And which games are you playing that don't have issues like this?"

That's fair - I skipped out on the dad/mom paths as well as the schoolteachers, so I only saw the game as a bunch of vignettes of dating your peers, but your reply makes sense.

Overall I don't think policing morality in porn is useful, but there's definitely a double standard as prompted this conversation - I just think people should be consistent, either they act holier than art though on both games like this (muh bwc), and the opposite (muh bbc), or it's free to play.

My main thing is it's good to critically analyse things while understanding it doesn't have to ruin your enjoyment. It's okay to break down BBC porn, or Rightful Ownership, but that doesn't have to mean you can't enjoy them. It just means you need to properly frame your fantasies. Same way I really like harems or being poly in games, but I know full well in reality that I personally value commitment and monogamy. Understanding the absurdity of women falling to their knees at the sight of a white man (just because he's white) is what makes the game funny.

So uh, it's kinda weird but MC's father kinda reminds me of the old man and his old man. A bit racist but overall speaks the truth.
