Yeah I personally don't get the obsession about the gameplay sucking especially if it's still going to use the same engine (for me would have made more sense if the game gets remade using something else). This is pretty subjective ofc but like you said it's the devs game ofc he can do what he wants.
Anyway all the best, still looking forward to whatever happens in the end.

From the start it seems like he wanted a sex battle game like KP to make things more interesting. Hope he does but honestly most people (including me) are more interested right now in the sex events.
There are a lot of h-games devs that are obsessed about remaking elements to their the game after working on it for more than 2 years (and still not completed btw). I think most of them do it to milk patreon members though.

Interesting points all, although I would say that it is a GAME at the end of the day, so shouldn't it be fun enough outside of the sex to make you want to keep playing?
Like, even with the scenes being amazing art wise, if the game constantly breaks/is boring/whatever (not saying this game is broken just buggy here and there) then players won't want to put the time in to get to the good stuff. Plus, as fun as it it to just see everything via the gallery, the game play is like the buildup before the action, to get you anticipating/exited for what happens next, or something to relax with while "recovering"
Otherwise you might as well watch a gallery vid/let's play

I will say gameplay does matter in the sense that it isn't too convuluted/annoying to get to the next scene, but a simple rgpm is fine imo.

ik what you mean, tho if I wanted to do that I wouldve just made a doujin or something (maybe I shouldve), but its as Latetoparty says, its a hGAME and I dont like a single thing about the game part thats in rn. If I go "jesus fucking christ fucking goddammit whatthe fuck" everytime I playtest then I cant say that the game part is gud. I bumped up the pic quality to the point where its wankworthy, making gameplay playworthy has been overdue since then. I don't really intend on having complex combat system like KP or replayability, the goal is more of one good enjoyable playthrough with hscenes of high enough quality to be revisited from time to time.

You could take inspiration from Makina and the City of Ruins. Nothing fancy gameplay wise, but it got the job done and what I especially loved about it is that you did not have to lose to get the content.
I think the game has a good premise and the potential for a really good story.
1) There is drama with the teachers and students - lots of ways to tell a story here with both main plots and small side stories.
2) The MC is an innocent young woman with a desire to succeed that allows her to shake off trauma and move forward without harm. She is someone that we want to succeed and we still get to corrupt her without damaging her.
3) The combat system vs environment is really good in that it has: clothing destruction and sex attacks that actually affect the combat. There are resources gained that are not just loot, they can be used for buffs and potions. The same combat system also is used against students in an effective manner. All combat actually requires you to be engaged instead of just banging the enter key.
4) The free roaming and night activities give more freedom of exploration and allow both more depth and more ability to add any kind of side quests, sexy times, and allow for extra/optional kinks to be added.
5) There is humor that blends well throughout.
These things are the foundation of a game that will entertain a wide variety of players. With that, I say not to strive for perfection or the game will never satisfy you. Make sure the foundation systems are solid and just add in the story you have already build. Leave rework to critical repairs and the occasional editing of art and dialogs; because endless changes can drag a game into oblivion.
In other words, it is a good game and is worthy of continued development. I haven't found any systems that are clunky or unpleasant, so don't be too critical. I am looking forward to future updates because this is one that I download and play immediately when I see an update drop.
PS, I come here for adult games, not porn. The internet is full of porn with no game play value at all. If a game isn't fun to play, I just spam through it and delete it or delete it outright.
Im not sure if its a good suggestion for inspiration but i want to suggest Namu's journey or Apostle (totally not because thats the first ones that come to mind)

Well that's a bad sign and pretty big red flag. Hopefully a red herring, because I really like the art and art direction, but I'm extremely doubtful.
I agree with you there.
I love the art and the story so far and look forward to more. Just don't follow the path of Saria Reclaimed, and remove all the gameplay from your game or Succulence 2 and spend 5 years remaking the intro chapter again and again. Take Karryn's prison as a role model, make something fun intuitive, and make something you can build on top of and not have to do everything all at once.
