The trans rights stuff is detrimental to the dialogue which reminds me of a bioware game. Every genderfluid npc reacts to you asexually and it's confusing. You can't even have a self-portrait. Having both male and female mc options is bad design choice.
Personally I kinda like it actually. It feels very Lovecraftian and even a little poeish. everything even who you are what you are and how you are is malleable and can be... tweaked, or altered, based on how your character sees themselves that day. to the point where even their memories of how the were before are altered with only a slight sense of "wrongness" Pervasive throughout the town anyway able to identify that something is wrong.

I personally start as a male with a phallus (surprise surprise i have a bias) but often begin wearing dresses and develop breasts part way through my game play. My characters gender identity and clothing choices change frequently (mostly just because I want to see how the scenes change but it does add to my enjoyment overall just to mess with it.)

then again If i could grow myself some "funbags" to play with when I wanted to and then make them go away when they were inconvenient I would absolutely do so IRL so maybe that is still me just role-playing me. I also guess that men wearing dresses doesn't seem that weird to a scot. In my culture Real men wear Kilts which are basically just skirts/dresses for men. although they do come With Pockets! and sometimes knife holders on the inside.

I also sometimes Adjust how my character sees themselves based on the day. I kinda like the idea that this is just one more thing this area puts into flux just as it does with time and space and all the natural laws of the earth.
Never lost my phallus or gained a Vagina however. probably wont touch that option but just cause i don't want to use it doesn't mean it needs to go.

also lowkey the Mass Effect Space Opera was one of the best series of the decade. High Key Knights of the Old republic is one of the best RPG's of all time and the Dragon Age franchise is full of fantastic Fantasy RPG adventures.
your giving quite a compliment to compare this game to the masterpieces put out by bioware especially considering their revolutionary literally game changing dialogue wheel and relationship systems which were praised for creating the best interpersonal relationships when they were revealed (and also gave the xbox the nickname of the sex box on fox news). Personally while I love this game I think that comparison is overselling it more than a bit.

I think the lack of self portrait is to reduce the amount of... "art" involved as that is clearly not the strength of this creator especially as the bits that actually change (dick, tits, ect.) actually do show up in the scenes when your character has them.

The art in this game is hardly horrifying. You're all very critical for people that probably have nil talent themselves and couldn't achieve the same result seen here.
I see this flawed logic being applied to other things too. First off, none of us are trying to create and sell a porn game. Secondly, what if i told you you can't criticise music you listen to because you're not a musician. Or that you can't say a poster looks shit because you're not a designer? It's more complicated than you make it out to be, because art is a part of many porn games and is supposed to add to it, and it's clear that the art is a turn off for many people. If it kills a boner, might as well not put it there at all as that would defeat the purpose of a porn game.

If it kills a boner... That could be applied to any fetish someone doesnt like too. The real meat of this game is the writing, and people are unfairly dismissing it because the visuals arent up to their standards. Thats like saying a concert sucked because the light show wasnt as good as something they saw at disney. Anyway, I enjoyed it, and hope the author continues to finish the story.

@PhanesDionysos:
I don't like the art much, but that just means you need to keep drawing. I've known some really great artists whose artwork is phenomenal now, the key for them was to keep at it. Several webcomics artists come to mind immediately whose early work is shite but improved over time just because they kept doing it on a daily basis. Specifically what I don't like is that your lines are heavy, your proportions are a little wonky, and your colors look like paint can fill. Maybe you need different software with more tools, there are several free programs that offer more varied tools. All of that said, you're making something from nothing, which is an accomplishment. It's much easier to refine a work than it is to put something on a blank page.

In terms of artistic improvement, I think what would help most are the following...

1) A closer study of anatomy. This would help fix any issues with proportions, as well as make the characters look more natural in general. By "anatomy", what I mean is primarily examining muscles, and how they change with movement and different poses; it's a solid foundation for anyone who intends to draw people, regardless of style. It also helps avoid any unintentional "But people don't bend like that!" issues in the future, something that most artists have probably done at least once.

2) A closer study of perspective. It's particularly an issue with human subjects, since there's so many fiddly bits that an artist can get wrong, and people tend to notice even minor distortions in this area. Fortunately, there's a way to "cheat" in this area - make use of a 3D model to pose as a reference. It can be an actual doll (so long as it's realistically proportioned) or it can be a virtual model like those included in most higher-end artistic software (I think it's most? The one I used did, but I only ever used the one...). Either way, it will produce immediate results, while still helping you develop an intuitive sense of what areas are visible or distorted in a given position.

Both of which build in to what I think is most important, personally...

3) Shading. The characters all look rather flat at the moment, because none of the minor bits of shading that usually help define the shape of a naturally rounded and squishy human form are present at the moment - not even on Theresa's dress, which should have dozens of shadows. There are many different styles you could use to apply these shadows, to be clear, ranging from detailed gradients to simply applying a second tone to the most shadowy areas... But having some kind of shadow applied to the appropriate areas would probably have the biggest results on the game's art at the moment. If you have any doubts, I'd strongly recommend spending an hour or two just playing around with shadows on Theresa to see the effect.

Personally, I'd rather the time be spent writing more than drawing more - but if you're interested in improving the art, I think these would be the best areas to focus on.

The queer/trans stuff is definitely there to stay, even if it isn't for everyone. I'm glad to hear that some folks enjoy it, whether it's because it speaks to your identity or because it's a fun thing to play with in the context of the game! There are plenty of games (a lot of which I enjoy!) that only contain straight, cis folks, and I want to make stuff that's from a different perspective.

Is there a way to get rid of all the "art" and make this game a pure text-based? Like deleting a folder with images into the game or something?
There's a setting in the options to hide all character art. If you want to hide all art (i.e. including backgrounds) you'd need to replace the images in the game directory with something like 1x1 pixel transparent PNGs (or with the image of your choice).

Anatomy and perspective are totally a matter of practicing and building skill, as various folks are saying. I'm gonna keep working on them! I think I have all the tools and reference materials I need (including 3D models); it's just a matter of me continuing to put the work in and understanding my limits.

It's useful to hear that the line weight seems heavy and that folks think more shading would help. I've checked with my patrons and they generally support more of my time going into writing than art, so I'm drawing and improving the visuals pretty gradually, but I'll keep that stuff in mind as I continue.

So, there is no way to get Permissive to 4 yet? I see you can start but only get 1/3.
There's no way to get any stats to 4 yet; that'll wait until enough of the training scenes are done to unlock the stats. Cheating should be easy enough by using one of the various methods for enabling the console; the stats are named "depravity", "permissivity", and "experience" as you'd expect. If you do this, though, know that some unlockables like routines aren't actually implemented past where they're available, so it's best to stick to stuff like nomenclature.

It's funny, this is probably the best lovecraft inspired game I've played. It really nails the debauched madness that a AAA studio/game can't simply because it embraces the more perverse elements of the mythos that is usually handwaved in favor of shooting frogmen. The whole game I was worried I was playing protag and Theresa into the enemies hands, and experiencing the bizarre townsfolk was made more interesting by the art style that was consistently off. Frankly I think the tone of the game is a bit too dark to support an art change to something conventionally erotic, like, if you're stealing smooches from Daphne while hunting elder gods the game is going to become farcical.

If I could make one request to the dev, add a mode without warnings as to the content protag is getting into. I think being able to set it to full horror mode like that would make for an even more authentically lovecraftian experience.

I largely agree with the notion that an art change to something that is more traditional in the genre would be bad. But, I got to say. I've never played an H-game more badly ruined by the aesthetic choices. So many scenes I might have enjoyed were just destroyed by the farcical ugliness of the cast. Insofar as your goal is to make something in the erotic horror vein, I think this is a failure. Your game and it's potential is being ruined by aesthetic choices/

There are profesional artists who specialize in erotic horror type material. You should try Disclaimer: Send him a message and check his intirest level. I've spoken to him before and his prices are quite reasonable.
