Idk how the situtation works but would be awesome if somehow Mobum was about to release all the work and images they created so far on a Cloud or Google Drive kinda of thing. Super Sad to never see Elly or Kelly again!

oh wow that does not sound good.
Just got this as a message on Patreon.

To my dear supporters.. I'm so sad to announce that the development of Runaway Princess has officially ceased. I cannot share the details but it's about the legal issue in where I live (Porns are prohibited in here, even though it's 21st century). I am so sorry to say that I cannot keep providing updates anymore, and I am really grateful to you at the same time, for supporting my humble game so far. I'm closing down the patreon page too, to avoid any future problems. I really hope I can come back to continue developing this project some day. I hope all the best to you, and I hope you don't get too annoyed or depressed by my decision..

MOBUM
Hi all, yes thats really sad.
I had very close contact with Mobum.
Had lots of DM going on. Helping him as much as I could (at least until some months ago).

When I had a last communication with him on Patreon, he was so so sad. It sounded like a severe existential thing.
This text also disappeared on Patreon. Afair he wrote that in his country, mafia, corruption, abduction and killing is not seriously prosecuted, but porn (and anything which counts as that) is.
He was like a good friend of mine. Sad :(

btw. afair timezone was somwhere in east asia, I guess.

Thats sad to hear. Hopefully in the future he can go on with his project or atleast find a good replacement paying option... Sounds like hes from south korea maybe cause a friend of mine basically described SK like that to me recently funnily enough.

I've not really kept an eye on such things, but I'm surprised at some of the countries on/not on the list. SK is definitely a surprise as some of their movies are more than a little...out there.

If he finds a way, I am sure he will be glad to continue.
But he sounded not optimistic, totally not.

That's a very helpful and interesting list. I was wondering long time ago what is the list of countries where the porn games can be done freely without any workarounds, without fear of being grabbed by the ass. To be honest, I've wanted to start my own project for a long time myself, but I also live in a country where only erotic content is allowed. You could probably argue that you can find a workaround, but I honestly do not know about such ways. Besides, I have already seen another game closed for the same reason as Mobum, and that author lived in the same country as me. He had quite a good amount of followers as well. I think many of the developers here, who live in countries where it is not allowed, simply hope that they will not be noticed, because it is too much of a stretch to find them. However, if you really want to spend time on it, get better at it, and get more support, so that people's donations will not only be your motivating factor, it may also bring attention that you wanted to avoid once your income increases. Honestly, it's very depressing when you want to create something, but idiotic laws put sticks into your wheels.

Are you two in Myanmar or Iran? When you say "erotic content only" as opposed to what? Where do they draw the line?

No, not Islamist country. If you look at the map in that link, there are quite a lot of countries of the former Soviet Union where it is forbidden in one way or another. Like I said, a lot of people make games simply because they think no one will have to look for them. And I have to admit, there are examples of devs from such countries who even become successful and get a lot of patrons. But I'm not really sure how they get away with it. There are even games from China where it's a life sentence. Imagine how great the desire to create must be for them to continue to publish their works despite such a harsh law.

Maybe this is purely my projection, but from the very first Mobum's game I was thinking that he is from Russia or at least from a country that was part of the Soviet Union. It just so happens that most of their games I've played often emphasize realism. There is such a trait in developers from these countries. They often go to extremes with it, where every hour in the game is accounted for and you do monotonous tasks. Also, these games are often easily distinguishable by the structure of the dialogues. In general, the design was very similar to the Russian game, I often managed to figure out where the game came from, guessing correctly at least 70% of the time. But I could be wrong this time, of course.

And as for where do they draw the line? Who the fuck knows, there's a working pornhub that you can access without vpn (other porn sites usually banned though), there's erotica in movies with naked persons, but you can't produce and share explicit porn yourself. That's how it is. Preposterous, indeed.

Wait I'm so confused now though then where do all these russian porn productions come from? ala "Wtfpass" and Krystal Boyd and co, these arent all consumed internationally are they? Or are you just referring to specific former Soviet republics, not Russia proper?

Because at least from this USA person's perspective/assumption, Russia was always the land of warez sites and free porn.

First thing first, not every person who speak russian is from Russia. So maybe somewhere it's less strict. I will speculate here a bit. I think this map don't show the full picture. So maybe in some countries, it is easier to avoid problems just by labeling your content. Even we look at the Boosty, which many developers from Russia use for donations. I read their agreement and it specifically states that only erotica is allowed. These devs simply think that no one will care about them. I can tell you with confidence that if Russia did not have such a law, there would be a lot more games.

I read up on it a bit, and saw my views were outdated, indeed, from 2004-2012, many Russians enjoyed similar web connectivity and freedoms as the west, and that's all changed in the 6-8 years. You learn something everyday, thanks for the education.

Where is the line? Afair, Mobum wrote something about "boobs have to be blurred out" in his country. This is quite restricted.
