I can't stand this MTL crap for one simple reason: It takes away job opportunities from talented people (not necessarily when it comes to MTL titles on this site). I would never want to be the editor for a machine but rather use it to check certain things - would you rather be the master or the slave? Edited MTLs are the death of professional localisation/translation work. Most people probably don't even know how it feels to find something you're really really good at and turn it into a job only to then be replaced in a couple years/decades by some stupid AI. - Rant End
I understand and get where you're coming from, but sadly it's just the nature of the world. Translator\interperter isn't the only job on the line either from automation. Even ignoring menial work(which all depends on definition). Accounting is pretty high on the chopping block, and it's definitly no more menial than translator would be. Same with Supervisors\Managers, or even doctors. Though it is still pretty far for any of these(including translator\interperter) to be replaced.

Does it feel worse to be replaced by an "AI", than anything else? I don't think so. Having your entire field \ job replaced by something completely different stings irregardless of what it is replaced by. As such, journalists that write articles are feeling that reality right now(replaced by videos, as people just generally prefer video over written word these days).
