It's too early to decide about revamp, cause it's too short right now. But I hope dev rethink his decision and continue with both version of game and split them in two games in same universe.

I get why people are mad, but I also get why it was changed. It wore the inspiration from Karryn's prison on its sleeve, but without the mechanical know-how or production value to make it work.

I don't care how hard it is to make a game or what issues the developer has, all I care about is the final product. If a hospital bound death bed developer fucks up a game I will rate it the same as if a AAA dev fucks up a game. The dev's personal failings are not my concern as a consoomer.

Its not just the battle fuck system that dev threw away but the whole atmosphere of a game got turned from something dark and unique into something very generic. I reckon dev is gonna drag this for a year or 2 and then ultimatly abandon it.

Probably because the gameplay was a major draw of the game.
There are countless CG collector games out there and Rule 34 image boards galore that easily satisfies someone who just needs a picture to get it done. With a game, the dialog, the way you get to the naughty bits, and even just a good illusion of player agency adds to its appeal. This is why a game with beautiful artwork can still get dragged if the dialog is stilted, if its a chore to access or even if it feels forced.
This isn't to say this game was some kind of breakthrough of game design but it at least felt different enough to put itself in a small group instead of mixed in with the flood of sameness.

Yo Dev do whatever you feel like, I tried making a game before and the shit is hard. I understand that it was probably annoying as hell to figure out the open world aspect and making it a VN would make it a lot easier. People just like to talk shit yet i bet you they'll be back on the next update.
Think of it as kind of changing your fan base in a sort of way. Right now you'll have people just shitting because they like the souls like type game play. Give it time and the VN fan-base will come and they'll probably praise it because its a really good setup for an interactive VN.
I personally like the previous version but im definitely going to keep checking up on the progress and hopefully when im not broke ill be able to support you. For the time being however good luck on your project and good luck in your life as well.
Also for all the fans that are just shitting on this new update. Go make your own game and see how hard it is. You dont like it then move on. If it aint your vibe anymore just leave. Its a struggle and you guys are just adding on to the struggle. If you want devs to make good games you dont just shit talk every decision they make. You give them suggestion but thats all they are suggestions and not orders. Most of theses fans think theyre the boss of the dev just because they played the game and praised it. Take some time off of porn to grow up and mature before you become a brain dead jerker.
To the supporters i guess it would work different but to put it simply you like it keep supporting it you dont then move on. Humans aint perfect and sometimes investments go south.
All in all just chill out. Yea its sad when games dont go your way but then make your own. You can make it however you want to make it and fuck it commision the dev for art. He is taking commissions after all. But most of you just want to be served because you think you deserve it. No one deserves anything and you just get what you get.

There is nothing worse in game development then a bunch of yes men for fans. I view being a developer as making a contract with my fans/supporters. A contract to deliver on the promises I've made, and to give them the game that they originally supported. To suddenly change an entire game is breaking that contract. It's not delivering the original promise. The dev is rightfully getting criticism, and not just here either. Discord (until a massive ban wave) and patreon are criticizing him, too. Itch as well, until he disabled comments.
