Based on patreon trackers he's lost only 10% of his month subs since 0.16 announcement last month to about USD1300 per month. Unsubbing is the only way, even then dev said didn't need the money.

The funny thing being that if Saria's background was a disposable no name scrapper, it would be leagues better in the story department (and closer to the original vision of picking your own background/upbringing/lifeexperiences) compared to the useless babysitter "elite" samurai mess we have right now.Just you wait. Sometimes remakes are justified, but changing your opinion about an (already decent and popular) game in terms of fundamental mechanics and setup is not gonna win you a lot of fans unfortunately. Real shame. It's a shame too if it's not being announced "hey im gonna completely remake it just FYI". Instead people possibly pour money into the project expecting next update to have some cool additions, and then it takes a long time and dev is like "well, I didnt ADD anything, I just made it again. Tehe"

for the people that are wondering why people are upset, it would be like the devs of cyberpunk when the game had its glorious shitshow of a launch instead of fixing it (which they did a amazing job of) going ya know what we are not gonna fix the game and instead remake it and turn it into a cyberpunk farming sim which sure im sure a lot of people be like okay weird but cool while the rest of the people be like were is the cyberpunk fps rpg game you have been hyping of for 7 years? and this game didnt need to be fixed and wasnt in a bad spot so dont think Saria was a broken game it worked quite well the battle system and the corruption while bare bonus was very good the cg from losing were great i loved the cave one or the fall a check and get hypnosis from the weird eye thing but now its all pretty much gone for and replaced for whatever reason a card game in a VN.

jokes aside I originally found the world traversal very unweildy and awkward but liked the old combat system, despite the massive grind it entails.
I like this version of the game more but its normal for people to be pissed off that he pulled that much of a bait and switch.
That's generally the problem with patreon based backing, as steering the ship in an unintended direction is bound to severely piss people off.
This is not what people paid for, and the dev could've wrapped up this game and put this idea on the backburner.

Also switched game to VN, so no free roam and progression, and removed most of art.
That is what I was thinking, a group of fans could take the legacy version and build their own game, following the direction that the game should take. As the Anal-only Ambassador, it would be a shame if this game gets thrown away to the trash by its own developer.
