If you played the demo I don't see how it's all that confusing on whether it's a sequel or a remake. To me it's clearly a sequel that ignores the ending of each route. If you play the Nobu route, she's already lost three times and is Nobu's slave. If you play the vagrant route, he's already moved in to the village . Also the sister tells her that she's ok with her having a BF but not to her hurt the MC's feelings.

these days, the cheap slop AI is better than most localizers.

suikoden game 2 months back was 1.
Do you think that an estimate of 1 month is enough for translating something like the base game using GPT-3.5?

I'm still trying to figure out how long it'd take to translate the sequel.

Incredibly excited for this game. Personally, the Yasui route is by far my favourite. It's really just pure degenerate corruption and lewdness all the way.

Top tier voice acting, artwork, character design. There are a few routes I find distasteful, but I'm glad the option is there for those who enjoy.

How are this developer's other games? Do they also contain a similar amount of NTR and corruption? I get the impression that Scars of Summer and Scars of Summer After are his 'swansong', or perhaps his most polished work.

So it seems someone (Kagura most likely) is already working on the english, and eventually a steam release

We're more likely to see an mtl very quickly tho
As others have said you could expect the mtl within a week of release, on the same day even if our hero is on demon time
But yeah, graphical elements that uses an image like UI and shit won't be translated

Tina is also really good, I personally liked kotoko alot even if it's dated, and the other VN is great too. His other games have a certain charm to them and you see how his storytelling and drawing abilities evolved from game to game.

August 23, 2024 is the reported release date.

If the game is released as planned, we'll get it on the forums within 24 hours.

What I'm wondering is how long would it take to GPT translated version of it. Like, if the game is supposed to be as big as the base game, would an estimated translation time of 1 month be correct?
im fine with mtl and poetic translation

dazedanon will have it done by day 2, tops. if ppl haven't already requested it to him.
God, I really hope not. The game deserves a proper translation, not some hallucinated MTL. True, chat gpt can churn out a sentence that looks vaguely English when you squint and ignore names pronouns and the situation actually happening in the scene, but that doesn't make it an acceptable translation. I only hope the inevitable MTL doesn't dissuade the developer from having it professionally translated.

Oh that's right, his also has a countdown. So no need to stress about the specific date and time for your timezone

The countdown is not accurate since it adjusts to the viewers time zone when it should be static to japan time. Yours is ahead of mine by ~15 hours yet in reality we have the same amount of hours to wait until release. The author stated that it will release the minute it turns into the 23rd which will be in Japan time. This is August 22nd 8-11AM in the US (PDT-EDT). For those wanting to play it the moment it drops, calculate it for your timezone, because in my case, this countdown would have me looking at a 0:00:00 screen for an additional 9 hours.

I'm being a bit of a nerd and trying to place where exactly on the timeline this game occurs. I played through Yasui's route again (after purchasing and supporting the dev on Steam)- It's still probably my favourite NTR route of all time. I just wish we saaw a bit more corruption/it was longer, especially knowing that the dev spends time on these... Less popular bulls.

Alas, that's the point of the game. Back to the main point, the timeline seems to be:

Scars of Summer After Prologue - A year before the first game.
Scars of Summer Introduction
Now, after this point, each route chooses where it continues on from:

Yasui: After their first time having sex in the love hotel.
Nobaru: After losing all three marbles.
Vagrant: Ryoka not coming to the seaside camp and instead choosing to spend the weekend with the vagrant.
Daisuke: Unclear, but at least after their first sex scene.

To break it down clearly- Scars of Summer After seems to be an expanded remake whilst skipping the original stages of corruption. We don't know what the other paths will start at- But it's fair to assume they'll begin with Ryoka having had sex with the antagonist once.

This means the original game is pretty much necessary playing, as the game suggests. Thankfully, I think what this also means is that the entire game will flesh out Ryoka's corruption for every path- Something which I think was very much needed in some of the paths. I did feel like a lot of the time, just as it was getting good, we'd run out of events and just speedrun to the last day.

Instead, Scars of Summer After seems to be built that each day gives a new and unique event. I also wonder how/what the dev will do with the entire concept of the game. There's no 'saving Ryoka' now. No memories, no end goal of fending off the NTR villains whilst we grind stats and money. Would be interesting to see if he just reverts to a linear corruption path or if we're able to still interfere and attempt to stop Ryoka from being ruined.

Either way, very excited for the game to come out. Will be hard to wait around for the English translation...
