Ok I beat the game today. The new modded stuff is pretty cool. Not sure I 100% understood the merging commanders or the 2nd army mechanic fully, but it was nice to see the mod dev recognized that the 30 commander cap is a fun inhibitor and that they tried to work within the limited confines of the game code to address it.
I never liked doing dungeons because they always felt like a chore to me. So it was jarring to see dungeons with 67, 220, 999 levels show up. Thank you cheat engine for getting me through that nonsense lol. Don't search for the dungeon floor during the fight, the value only increments after the fight. Once I figured that out, it only took me 3-4 floors to find that value and then instantly get to the final floor on all the rest of the dungeons.
All of the reinforcements are different in Dai Sengoku, that's why. You aren't doing anything weird, they are just different in this version of the game.
After you defeat Xavier in part 1 of the game, you keep all of your commanders and the game moves onto the new modded part 2, where you fight on a new continent. There you face Zeth and Leazus, where your old reinforcement commanders (Maria, Kasumi, Kanami, Leila, et al) show up and have new story bits.
Ah thank you! I was thrown because there is a reinforcement option for the normal campaign Zeth trio that. Saves me a lot of headache trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
any tips for this game? i don't want to min max too much so i just grab character with the highest number of troop and just keep using the same team for attacking (rance, ranmaru/uesugi, katsuie, suzume, fuuka, isoroku) but now i'm struggiling with the fight in the temple where you fight a beast after beating kenshin
also is love relationship only for 1 person? i get it with suzume but other characters are stuck on normal or trust
also the game itself does a bad job of telling you its something to watch out for lol. i cleared it blind my first time without knowing any of the gourd mechanics , but yes there were definately restarts
Yeah i discovered that after.
And thanks to the guide, I now know when gourds are broken. Which gives you time to plan who to attack, when, and thus much more time to do dungeons and such to level up.
Just that a guide is needed to know that (just like the one defeat/turn only) to make your life so much easier.
Without a guide the game is a huge time waster in comparison to the amount and quality of H available. ^^

Relationships go up when you do something with them, or give them an item that improves it. When they get a full sticker list or whatever, you can then talk to them (I believe its 7/7 that it shows as an action), which then levels their relationship and allows some form of improvement to them.
The relationship stickers are gained from: using an action to talk to them (look around the map to see if there are any available, but it costs an action), sometimes gained when fighting together, one is gained when you win a fight, and giving the items.
As for min maxing... Honestly, good luck winning without min maxing or following a guide. This is a hella difficult game to win.

So "merging" just means eliminating one unit while giving a skill to the first, with the option of having their combat sprite included to give you a sense of them still being there.
I personally only did this once, and never again. I don't like it. plus there's the chance it breaks things.
The "2nd army" is more of a misnomer. It's a bench to keep a few inactive commanders so you dont have to dismiss them if you might want them later. Thats all it is. I used it to get rid a few unwanted commanders that I wasnt allowed to dismiss.
this game is too damn hard to be fun, I retry to finish the game for the first time. At turn 38, Uesagi don't declare war, and I have loose 3 time vs the Texas with auto defeat, the rng kill the game
ok i gave up, turn 93 and game over because the pink haired girl demons awakened and i don't know how far i'm supposed to go back to fix it. The demon army also kinda bodying me and if i need to take most of their territory then i'm not even hafway through the game since they get to insta conquer mori takeda. i think this game would be so much better if the new game plus is available even if you game over rather than asking you to win on your first playthrough

This got me for a while because I wasn't paying attention to the dialogue. There's a dungeon that appears in a clan you conquered near the ninja clan. You have to finish it and collect lemons to stop her from transforming. This can be done any time. You shouldn't have to go back too far.
