I'm used to long waits for updates for these games. Most of my favourite games get one or two updates a year at most.
Yeah, it really is like that - besides a few exceptions only mindless fuckfests usually get most of support nowadays.
They might be to people like us, but the majority needed for the dev to actually make some money - don't like waiting a year for 30mins of renders, no matter the quality of work.
The next release will also be the official Steam release. It will be an Early Access game so as content is added on Patreon I will also add it on Steam also. Plus this way people will only need to buy once instead of needing to buy Book 1, Book 2 etc.
While I don't disagree with your example, it's a little egotistical to assume you know what deserves or does not deserve someone else's support. Do some people make dumb choices with their own money? Sure. But what they think deserves support vs. what you think deserves support is all subjective. And ultimately it's their own money to spend, so I could see why your "trying to explain to people" what their own opinions should be or not would likely fall on deaf ears.

I'm half joking, ofc, but still: if people want to keep supporting someone that (at least in my view) it doesn't make sense to support, that's their business. It doesn't mean I agree with their spending habits, but it's not my money so also not my business.
I get it. But if the bear refuses to use it (or worse, if it turned its head away completely and wandered away when you presented the fishing rod), you've wasted your effort. And many people don't even like to hear the suggestion that they should consider something else, so those bears will probably attack you instead of seeing what you've presented to them. As soon as they see something about wasting their money or about "you really should support this other developer instead", they turn their bear-heads away and wander off into the forest without listening to a single thing you've said.If you give a bear a fishing rod (an example, don't take it literally), you are not telling it what to catch... but rather that there are better ways to do it, then the bear can fish however he wants, understand?
