I like this game, I really do, but man, enough with Frank's sissy personality! This is becoming very annoying already...

Whilst I like the game overall, at this stage I'm pretty much convinced they are all going to be sporting shitty hairstyles and worst of all, the MC doesn't even get a choice to tell them he doesn't like the new styles, he just thinks to himself that he must have a thing for short hair. Some short styles can look good on some face shapes for sure but these 'styles' are NOT amongst them. Please at the very least, if we can't get them changed, at least let us express to the girls a preference as to whether we liked the previous, longer styles more than new ones.

Out of everything, I'm not sure how I feel about the change in the girls looks. Like I can't quite put my finger on it, but each of the girls just looks a little worse than chapter 1.

i get where everyone is coming from and i agree that at times the introspective monologue of the MC gets grating and makes for a hard read. however, if i can play devils advocate here...
at this point the guy is the closest thing the three of those girls has to a real dad even if there are underlying feelings of sexual tension in there. i mean look at how he reacted when Beth and Vanessa offered him the friends with benefits thing! sure the amount of internal monologue and overthinking certain situations that would be a no brainer to others is annoying, ill give ya that. however, this guy has been traumatized and perhaps the fact that he overthinks things to the point of personal detriment is a defense mechanism that he developed as a way to protect himself from having more complications with women than he already has had. he could also be trying to protect his "daughters" from himself as he knows what happens/ happened to women he has gotten close to in the past
anyway ill spare you readers anymore of my amature psychoanalysis of fictional game characters and just say that... while, yes he does tend to overthink his situations too much and sometimes needs coercion to doing sexy things with females which would be second nature to some guys. im sure thats all part of the character development the dev was writing into his personality (that and without his flawed personality he would just be another creepy old dude running round trying to fuck all the young girls in the game and i know im not the only one here who isnt a fan of the "old man" tag)

While I like most of what you have to say I would disagree with the notion that Shannon is a gold digger. Frank ain't gold, baby. She makes more money than him as the franchise owner of a chain fast-food franchise and is sure to pay herself a high six-figure salary since she probably is paying her workers minimum wage. This puts her firmly in the owner class. Meanwhile, Frank makes nothing if he doesn't sell a condo. That's why he is always broke. He made some money by renting out his loft, which he didn't even buy, but that couldn't have been enough to keep a wife and three daughters in much comfort. The only time he does sell a condo is when the old lady that gave birth to the chick who killed his wife sends her friends his way. Since she is dead, he is gonna have to hustle to maintain his income and pray that his new assistant is a better salesman than him. Sure, Shannon was greedy in the divorce proceedings but it seems that was more out of spite than the actual desire for remuneration. To my mind, she wanted to stay married to Frank because he was a good father, albeit a shitty husband and a dubious provider. We don't have to hear all her thoughts so for all we know she was desperately in love with this sap and is writhing in torment because she had a drunken hookup with her ex that blew up her life. Imagine playing the game from her perspective, like in Lilith's Longing. Her villainous ex-husband seducing all of her daughters with his giant dick as vengeance for her one mistake. Screwing her over at every turn. Hiding assets that she is due by community property laws. Cavorting with lesbians while she is left abandoned and alone in the home that was once filled with a happy family to drink herself to death. I still think that there is more going on with her that we don't know, but if she were a gold digger she was certainly barking up the wrong tree when she married Francis. If it were true she would have dumped him a long time ago. Now if the ex-husband is rich that is a whole other story. We really know very little about his situation. I'm in the minority, but I kinda like Shannon and hope she has a happy ending. Life is just too complicated to paint her as the bad guy just because the shorthand is convenient for us.

Your major plot spoilers is that he seems to have no spine or free will.
Supposedly people have been helping him out without his knowledge and he is still a broke real estate agent somehow. So really he seems to be a megacock total loser. The only thing he has going for him is his dick, other than that he seems pathetic.
I haven't played the update yet, but dev better not mess with Lily's beautiful ponytail!!!

The allure for Lily and Abby in particular was their innocent look - this kind of kills it IMO

Yes. I'm done with dream sequences too, they always feel like a waste of dialogue and render time. I get why they're there, so the writer can show off their bodies without moving the story on and it's also typically a good tool to show the dreamers feelings/real intentions, in SA the MC procrastinates so much the dream sequences are not needed for that purpose.
Even in a great game where the purpose is very clear and understandable like LoML I find myself thinking the dev time could've been better spent than on another mostly inconsequential dream sequence.

They look like they belong in Thirsty For My Guest. Absolutely the appeal of the characters in Single Again was their down to earth looks and personalities, and it will really suck if they make this change permanent. They can upgrade their renders on their next project. They did a great job of creating appealing, wholesome characters. I have loved so much of this story and the characters...with the exception of the MC. He has Constant Shock Syndrome. By this time, he shouldn't be shocked by anything that happens with the girls in his life, but there he goes everytime. He is still resisting at the same time he's claiming to have accepted. He is exhausting. Is it ok for him to still have doubts and fears to some level? Yes. Does he still need the constant inner monologue struggles and whining? No. Does he need to constantly act like he's surprised or annoyed with Rebecca when he knows who she is by now? No. Exhausting.
While I do appreciate that Frankie is different from you usual harem VN protagonist who is immediately ready to fuck everything that moves... It's getting REALLY grating how three-quarters of the text in the game is "I know I shouldn't but... no, I can't"

That's sort of what turns me off in this game. I get it. He's been through hell. He's raised these girls like they were his, he's dealing with a lot of shit, but when you have three amazing girls (four if count Meiko, which I surely do) wanting to actually BE with you, and every time they look at you, you're already half way from running away out of the door, or crying in your coffee about Lily or Becca, and most importantly, Abigail, who he should already know at this point is going to join the growing harem.
Meiko too, she's cute as hell, she has a crush on him, she wants the guy damn bad, and all he's doing is Boo-Hoo'ng everything, her fucking parents even want him to bang her and marry her. Get over the Shannon bitch. Move on from Jessica, but the issue with that is when he looks at Abigail, he sees her.
It's getting to the point (I've only been playing this game less than 3 days) and he's acting like a frightened fucking schoolboy still crying about the goldfish he owned that was flushed down the toillet.
Jesus Christ man, you're 39 years old. Grow a set!!
