There's nothing off about that. It costs a ridiculous amount of money to fund an entire series of animation under a studio name. Just google how much an animated series costs to fund and you can see how the money begins to add up well into the millions for a seasonal series when you factor in all of the outsourcing and costs.

I will say though that Skudd is being a bit too optimistic with hoping someone funds they're project when you consider that it's porn and that it'll be free on the web. Crowdfunding will be the only option that is realistic to meet that goal.

This agree with, doing like regular SFW animation series cost a fuck ton of money. But this is normally done by a studio who has a budget and investors.

But when it comes to Skudd, he/she has done this alone, and it sounds like Skudd won't touch the project unless someone is willing to throw 2-4 million into this, which if i were to guess. When you involvle an investor into a NSFW project, unless he/she is into NSFW, will try and sway the project into going into SFW. Or try and say that i will fund the project, but it has to be full on SFW. Which my guess is gonna be the end of Meru.

But then again, it comes down to what people have said in her twitter, why not boot up her Patreon again, or try Kickstarter or something similar? It worked for the first 5 episodes, so why can't it work further on?

Well from what I've gathered, it seems they're not interested in working on Meru again unless it's a huge team that's tackling on the production. I have no idea how many people were involved in animating the first five episodes of Meru but it took them around 3 years to release 5 episodes with their Patreon model. That's clearly something Skudd doesn't wish to go through again with how adamant they are about not touching the series unless an investor joins in. By hiring a dedicated full team of professionals, they can release the series far quicker and more consistently.

Kickstarter would be their best option because no investor is going to pour in that much money for a porn series that they can't even market and get a return on, it's just not going to happen. This isn't a porn game like Subverse that can be sold on Steam to consumers for a profit or a Netflix series with a subscription based model to watch. Every episode of Meru is free to watch on the internet and I assume that won't change with this new series.

From what i've gathered it was Skudd alone doing it, though he cant possibly be slower then Miro right :KEK:

Always wondered why there wasnt any more meru stuff, is there a major difference between what skudd does and lets say derpixon? Afaik derp does all the main art but they have people help with background art. Anyway what theyre suggesting is insanity nobody is going to "fund" them thats not how this works which is why ppl use patreon,subscribestar etc in the first place. it just sounds like they want a huge influx of money to take shortcuts, i garantee if someone gave them millions to make a "season" it would all get mismanaged and pissed away after only a few episodes.

the thing is miro has another income, affect3d ontop of the crowdfunding. skudd is apparently complaining that relying entirely on patreon would take "forever" to fund and finish the meru project.

ill prolly cop a mod for this but ill go for it anyway :WaitWhat:. surely people are familiar with subverse? funded with 1.6million pounds or closer to 2m USD in todays exchange. they were asking for 100k pounds initially, but that was a cutdown version of their "entire game" where if they hit 150k pounds, that would give you the real full game with all the waifus and planets promised. now initially they offered early access only months after starting in early 2019 then they decided to scrap that idea.. but it wouldnt be until march 2021 years later they would finally let backers play the game oh and also let normies buy it on steam :WeSmart:cos you know they gonna need some extra cashola right? i mean sure they said they only needed 150k to finish the game originally so what did the extra million plus some get their backers?

from what i can see, some extra animations, art assets, backstory/quests for the waifus.. you know fluff stuff. after the 650k tier they ran out of ideas so they just said we will hire more staff. fun. now its almost 2023 you think they're close to finishing? maybe probably i doubt it tho. now i dont recall what they originally said and cant find proof so my bad, i swear they said the game would only take roughly a year then said they would go back to make their "videos" which ofc never happened. so there ya go, look at how much money these muppets got for their project, literally 10x what they initially asked for and its still not finished after 4 years. you want another good example? star citizen. more money more bloat more delays :HideThePain:.

Look i get what skudd wants, but its a pipe-dream okay nobody is throwing around mad money to some rando 2d animator on the internet, maybe they should of done the first episode then tried for a kickstarter etc for the "whole season" idea but they would of never gotten close to what they are asking for its just silly. realistically the only chance they have if some oil prince who besides his usual fetish of watching models jerkoff camels and pissing on glass tables hes lying under decides that these movies of meru would complete his life and decides to fund the whole thing.

late edit: srry on wall of text it's just i think people, mostly naive creators, have a massive misunderstanding about the problems of crowdfunding and large amounts of money.

Skuddbutt is a 2D/3D female artist who makes short and long voiced animations of characters from video games and animes, especially Teen Titans, but also Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Harry Potter. He is currently making a long anime with an original character: Meru the Succubus. He worked with several developers like Ben10 on flash games in the past (included). His content often features bestiality, group sex, and tentacles.
