Thank you for the comment a lot. Yes, you're right about her wearing too much make-up. But there are two reasons for that. And I feel I need to elaborate on them. 1. This is younger sister. There is something we should keep in mind about her character: she is shy and innocent, insecure, lacking self-confidence and having low self-esteem. But she wants men to like and admire her; she wants to look in the mirror and discover there an attractive young lady. For god's sake, she wants to have a boyfriend! So, her wearing excessive make-up is her desperate attempt to correct the situation, to make herself more attractive and desirable. 2. Personally I fall for girls with 'smokey eyes' make-up, I admit, it's my thing, guilty
To me, Annie's innocent soul is very much alike that kitty on her T-shirt: soft, tender and pure.
Yes, I had my doubts about that scar, too... But finally decided to stick to it. because it's another thing that makes Annie so vulnerable: "gosh, my scar is the first thing everybody notices... how can they ever love me???" (Annie)
