Dreams honestly feel like a waste of time to me. I know it's all fiction, so what's the difference, but it still feels like 'why work so much on things that aren't even happening' lol.

Because despite being in development for over 4 years, the actual story is only 4 days deep so it's frankly ridiculous to imagine that all the scenes depicted in dreams could've happened irl (you know what I mean)
The use of dreams and fantasies allows Ranli to cram more sex into his game than he otherwise would while writing a coherent story and I applaud him for it (although he did concede, on discord, that he overused the ship as a setting for Cole's dreams, will use other settings for Cis' and Sam's updates and may revisit Cole's to create new settings for some of the existing dreams)

I don't get the appeal. If you're fine with out of context sex scenes, why not just watch porn.
Are they out of context though? The MC is psychic, manipulating someones dreams as a means to brainwash them is a well developed meme (particularly by demons, which would explain his connection to the hell dimension). So what if the MC isn't smart enough to realise that's what he is doing. The end results should be the same.

The general idea is to show scenes that can't happen right now or at all, as well as give insight into another characters feelings.
This update has the problem that most of the dreams, and especially the dreams from paths that the people invested into Cole, do neither. Which is something the creator wants to address in the rest of the planned dreams, as Lemonfreak said.

I've played this game when I've first discovered it years back, and this...actually makes a lot of sense when you'd put it that way. Makes me look at the game in a different light now.
