Bugs when reloading saved games:

1) Slaves assigned as Receptionist/Greeter or Head Girl end up automatically reassigned to Suite.

2) Slaves sometimes randomly get put into Brothel and Room Service, regardless of previous job.

3) Planets with both Hunting Permits and Modest Proposal will lose Modest Proposal and pick up Business Investments in its place.

4) Slaves assigned new jobs from the slave menu never actually go to those new jobs but remain on their old ones. They only actually change jobs if you Summon them first and use that menu instead.

5) Storage deletes itself from the spire.

Somebody Tell me, what is extreme content? I'm afraid of the title, but curiosity is stronger than my common sense.

at least you didn't get a
Yeah...when you put it that way, I'll take the rat-dog.

Anyway, @ : While I'm no programmer, I've noticed a kind of pattern to the bugs and I've got a theory about a lot of them. I suspect the ultimate culprit is how its writing its save files. Lots of bugs show up when reloading save games, and the game constantly does autosaves as well. If its writing "floating" game data to the disk as well (as opposed to just holding everything in RAM all the time) and then accessing it later as needed (a sort of "real time" save file, if you will) then that same saving malfunction could be affecting the active game as well as it's being played.

Did that make any sense? I'm not sure if I'm describing it right. But I know in the past, before big RAM was a thing, almost all big games were constantly reading & writing their overflow to hard drives all the time. If this one does it too, and there's some kind of error in how it saves stuff, then those two things could be combining to cause corruption in games as it's being played.

So I'm hoping that when you get back to the old drawing board and manage to track down whatever is causing the save games to get bent out of shape that it may just clear up a lot of other, in-game bugs as well.

Now for more requests and suggestions:

  1. Option to choose fonts and font sizes.
  2. Some kind of indicators on the fur slider rather than making us guess what each pixel of distance does.
  3. Startopia had this thing that was called "fake actors" or something. Basically when you weren't zoomed in a NPC, or they weren't in direct view, it just sort of swapped them out with low-rez, low-CPU cardboard cutouts to save memory and cycles. You might want to try something like that but tie it into overall station population. It might help.
  4. Let us set prices for things, again like in Startopia. Lower prices would attract more tourists but higher prices could make more off each individual one.
  5. Have slave skills affect brothel prices. Basic sex for the basic room, but also throw in charisma and intelligence for the more expensive ones (as a courtesean is not the same thing as a hooker).
  6. In-game clock or calendar, to keep track of what day in the month it is.
  7. Time speed controls like in The Sims. Pause, normal, double, turbo (<- turbo would turn off all NPC avatars wandering around to maximize cycle efficiency)
  8. Option to adjust the graphic quality levels beyond Unity's boring three options. I swear the brightness is burning my eyeballs out in some places - the Dairy is the worst for that. I can't even see furniture plans against all the whiteness.
  9. Options to tweak the special effects animations as well. Those waves in the baby-accelerator look cool and all, but put ten of them on a station and framerates sink fast.
  10. Make the selection tabs on the planet and slave menus persistent. Meaning if we select "sort by age" then have it stay that way until we change it. Right now we've got to reset it every time we look at it.
  11. Let us rename planets that we own the same way we can rename slaves. "Ekko Breeding Colony #5" may not be very inspiring, but it's a lot easier to remember than "Algol 4b" - especially when you've got five other Algols in your planet list.
  12. Make planet expenses and rewards dynamic. Why should Hunting Licenses on a station with a population of 5,000 grant exactly the same income as it does on a planet of 5,000,000? Why are all these things flat rates that ignore population and tech level?
  13. Total overhaul is needed for planet tweaking. Borrow from Free Cities and add some player selectable "grants" to boost specific planet traits, with an input for how much your want to spend on that grant per month (like with FC Future Societies propaganda). So on one planet we could say "$1000 per month on Prosperity" instead of flat rate Business Grant. Another could be "$2000 per month on Happiness." And of course we'd finally have a way to actually change tech levels at last. The larger the population the less effect per dollar spent, so large planets would require more money to socially engineer.
  14. Adjust planet tribute to reflect this. Planet with population of 10,000 = $500 per month. Planet with population of 10,000,000 = $600 per month. Dafuq? Let's make big numbers give big rewards, then up their defenses to make it more of a challenge to keep it fair.
  15. Let us adjust planet tribute and just call it what it really is - taxes. Lower taxes boost economy, happiness and lower fear. Higher taxes raise it. Very simple!
  16. So you know how Windows itself has a thing on folders that let you switch between List, Description, Small/Medium/Large icons? Something like that for slave and planet menus would be awesome. Instead of icons it could be tiny snapshots of the planet or the slave's face, for those of us who are better with visual than name recognition.
  17. BUG - If you sell a pregnant slave you still get an option to keep or sell the baby once it's born.
  18. Let us save Rule Assistant rules like in FC to use in other games.
  19. Multiple save games. Meaning different profiles than we can choose from instead of just overriding the same one with each new game. Also, let us rename saved games so we can remember which is which.
  20. In surgery we have a "Add to All" button but not a "Remove from All" button, which is because the planet screen lets you do it.

Somebody Tell me, what is extreme content? I'm afraid of the title, but curiosity is stronger than my common sense.
It's rape. The file itself (as I found out earlier in this thread) can be anything, even an empty text file that has been renamed to "ExtremeContent.mod"
Apparently the game just checks to see if such a file exists, not what it contains. Put in the main directory where Stationmaster.exe is located.
