When you see this abandoned tag usually it just means that it's been a while since the developer posted an update.
It gets removed when a new version is released, last news we have from the dev were last Christmas and he was still working on it but wasn't gonna post anymore until release.

Will we see this update anytime soon? Who knows, maybe not, but last update was like a year ago, so this tag being here really changes nothing, just move on to other things and check out from time to time.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I don't mind what dev is trying to do with all the routes. It's what makes the game stand out among other similar titles. What doesn't sit well with me is that they seem adamant on releasing something only if the story somehow goes ahead for everyone, to avoid some players to boot up the new update and be done in a few clicks. I think with 21 routes (7 LIs x 3 relationships) that's gonna be inevitable in the long run. They already reach the point where they need 1+ year to make an update and potentially the game is barely started.

I know this is hopefully just a temporary tag, but between this, Desire of Fate and Nothing is Forever this has been a rough month.

For everyone who thinks the dev has abandoned the game, go look what the Abandoned tag actually means for this site. As far as we know the dev is still working on the game.
Same thing could be said "as far as we know he could have abandoned the game". They have the RIGHT to think he abandoned the game with the lack of communication. Could they be wrong? Sure. Could they be right? With the lack of communication, equally so.

Telling people to not think a certain way without evidence to clearly soothe their worrying is not the way to go.

Games like A.O.A. Academy and Deviant Anomalies are some examples.

The game is abandoned according to the rules of this site, which have been honed over many years to reflect a reality or probability that a game will get 86ed in the future. And it's a good warning to anyone contemplating supporting the dev.

We've all known for a while (with the exception of that one team member who likes to lecture people in this thread) that the outlook for Stormside was pretty bleak given how ridiculously complicated the game is. And that is based on a long track record of games that have crashed and burned for being too ambitious. Atemsiel- if he is still working on the game- really needs to take a chainsaw to this shit if he ever hopes to get it done.

To be honest, I don't understand why Athemsiel doesn't write anything at all, any communication with the audience is important, and I don't even take this site into account, he has twitter, patreon, and discord for this.

I think Atem is embarrassed by the relative lack of progress. During his last patreon messages he mentioned not wanting post progress when all he had to show for a few weeks of work is various alternatives of the same scene in different paths.

Stormside has extreme branching, extensive facial expression changes, and a single developer. None of that is conducive to quick progress.

Im way less harsh towards devs who dont have their avns on steam, when they are on steam i consider them a buisness and have matching expectations.

I consider AVN's which are only published on patreon and so on as more or less hobby projects and the devs can do (not not do) whatever they want.

But it is still stupid, no matter the reasons, to not communicate with your supporters AT ALL over three months and will lessen the devs earnings. Even writing "Yo can be assed at the moment but will keep developing" is better than nothing lol

For me its a clear sign to not support devs like that until they "redeem" themself in my perception with a series of updates with proper development speed and normal communication.

It stops being a hobby when you put it on Patreon or on itch.io for money, people are investing in their product even if said product the game is not immediately released the expectation is to one day see it finalized.

They cannot expect people to just continue to give them money every month without a minimum level of communication at least from time to time.

Evermore and Stray Incubus are officially abandoned, Stormside isn't, but don't expect it anytime soon.
Idk dude... It seems pretty abandoned to me. Go check the dev's Patreon, and see it for yourself.

The point is officially abandoned. For Evermore and Stray Incubus the Devs have said that they abandon the game, such a statement is missing for Stormside. Does not mean that it is not abandoned, but at the very least there was no Dev-Communication that it is abandoned.

Well we had a post last Christmas that he was still working on it, which honestly for an AVN Patreon community 3-4 months without update posts is not that long. Something unexpected could have delayed the update I myself would probably consider it completely abandoned if the dev said so or if he disappears for like half a year without any trace.

What's up with these Honey Select games' devs? What do they keep abandoning their games? Evermore, Stray Incubus, and now Stormside...:cautious::(
HS games live and die by their patrons since they can't legally sell the game using pirated assets; Honey Select is a game and any assets from the game are not licensed for any use outside the game. This means, unless the dev is doing it for 'fun' they have to hit some critical mass of continual support to be able to focus on the game and not let their day job or life happenings get in the way. Add on top of that the amount of work needed to maintain a game with many branches and the additional work to maintain a social media presence and it can be a pretty daunting task. Lastly, even if it started out 'fun', stuff like that can feel like a second job after a while.

If the dev wants to keep this game going, they have to cut back on the quality in some area, either reducing regular conversational renders, or cutting paths. Another option is to only release certain branches of progression to enable faster releases, but that requires branches and choices to not be heavily intertwined. If Atem releases another update that'll be great, but I won't be surprised if this is either officially or silently abandoned by them.
