If he intended to abandon the game for good, he would release the files and models. A few pages back, I posted the DM where he directly said so to me.

i former backer on patreon, i believe he intended to put it on steam or gog. which i understand requires certain legal stuff. i could be wrong

Yeah... I have been dreading to learn one day Pale Carnation is going to stop because they can't move it to steam. If PC stops, I may take a long walk off a short pier.

He's never intended to put the game on Steam, since Illusion games can't be sold there (and he's known that for at least three-plus years; we chatted about Steam games at least as early as 2022).
You are likely remembering one of the many times someone else asked him why he doesn't put it on Steam.

Same tbh, but as long as they keep getting support from Patreon we should be safe, if anything I'm sad more people won't discover the game because it can't be on steam, such a shame so many people are losing out on peak.
I don't understand why Illusion doesn't ask for a percentage from the developers using their "graphics engine" in order to allow sales on platforms like Steam or GOG.

Well Illusion hasn't been around for a while but still due to copyright you can't use the assets for commercial purposes.
What I don't like about copyrights is this kind of absurdity.

Illusion rebranded as Illgames with Honeycome Come Come Party so technically they are still around and Koikatsu is still being sold on Steam. It might be possible to license their assets, but that would probably require going to Japan and negotiating with them and I've never heard of anyone making the attempt.

You would probably feel different if you created something and people went out and made money with it without you getting anything in return.
