Recommending Story-first games

What games would you recommend that you think is "stat-first games" / "gaming"-element first games that also still have decent story?
*Since this is still a story-first games thread.
Esp Renpy but I guess at this point, if renpy isn't available, I might venture to Unity too.

I assume you aren't talking about stats related to love and sex.

I'd say Ataegina and Love of Magic are the poster childs for stat-first games (coincidentally a new update was just released for Ataegina).

Then there is Supermodel which is going to have a whole trading card game in it. A demo of the trading card game is currently available.

And Teen Zombie in your Cabin which has stats related to survival.

What I was thinking of is Rebel Duet, ionDivvy's new game (of Casual Desire fame). There you level up sex skills. But it is early yet, so I don't know if you'll always be able to get all content or not.

And I forgot about Lilith Rising (formerly known as Tainted).

Then there are other types of games I'm not sure if you are interested in. Like trainer type games like Paprika Trainer. And in similar fashion games like Idol Hands and Idol Hands 2 (those are RPGM though) which are all about leveling up your idol including sexual skills. Lots of HTML games have various stats as well, if you are going all out on stats I recommend Masters of Raana. And of course management games.

Finally, you should play Princess Maker 2 if you haven't already.

You can definitely use the mouse to play the game to click to locations. Be prepared, this game at some point feels like a politics simulator with economy investment you use to leverage your soft power in controlling factions in the kingdom and various religious institutions. I have never before agonized over my decisions in any game as much as this game haha! I hope you enjoy it!

Both Zia and Nina seemed to thinking along much the same lines as I was despite the heat of the moment...I appreciated the self-awareness they both displayed. Both Nina's hesitation and Zia's gentle persistence felt organic.

This was my feedback to Arisushi as well. They are just two best friends who are exploring, awkwardly and clumsily, whether they could be something more.

Zia's powers seem utterly overwhelming at this point and probably need to be grounded/constrained a little. At the least, she's going to need a credibly dangerous antagonist to avoid coming across like a Mary Sue.

Hey, we are playing the same game!

Technically my primary playthrough is a cocky, impulsive MC who got a reality check and is now torn between trying to figure out his feelings for Emma, while also casually messing around with Lea and having rebound sex with Deb. He's not good with temptation, although there's a chance it turns out alright in the end.

I have a scorched earth playthrough too though.

Obviously, as the person who actually knows what happened there, I do not want to take away from the audience's experience of guessing what could have happened.

Instead, I'll just say any and all "strange" events will always be properly explained in the game (either explicitly or implicity). So, please look forward to it

Recommending Apocalypse Mutant 2, a game in the same vein as Teen Zombie in Your Cabin (my review) but a lot bigger and longer.

A bunch of people, mutants with superpowers, are doing their best to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. They find each other through chance encounters and slowly form a family of sorts. Despite the occasional Engrish, the writing is good and quite funny. It's nothing new as far as stories go, but it's still an immersive adventure and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

The one thing to note is MC's superpower. Unlike with other characters, there is some serious porn logic to his, but it's written very much in a self-aware, tongue in cheek way, and it works really well.

I'd like to plug Casual Desires a bit. It is a tale of a girl and her friends who explore their sexuality. I find it to be a very positive game as in it gives the feeling that sex is fun! Let's have more of it. This is due to that most sexual acts is initiated by the MC (or the other two girls who acts as protagonist sometimes) and if it is not initiated by MC she can always say no without any real consequences. There is no blackmail, forced or coerced sex. No "deals" to exchange sex for something she needs. No sugar daddies. And so on. It really makes for a very pleasant experience for me.

The drawback to this though is that there is very little plot and drama. It is more of a string of encounters where MC gets new relationships or progress existing ones. So can't really call it story-first game.

I also tried played New Beginnings in Japan recently. There about 80-90% of the men in the story creeps or sexually harass a woman within 1 minute of being introduced. Which made for a very frustrating experience for me, so I didn't play for very long.
