A lot of people only cares about their own kinks. And if a dev happens to satisfy their kink they'll immediately demand to add another. Then the dev adds a kink they don't like and they will complain about how their game is ruined.

To be fair we do kind of the same thing when devs prioritize porn over story. :)
Well... it's not quite the same thing. I do not go on say, the _WVM_ thread and whine continuously about how good the game could be if they had only created a plausible story and non-cardboard cutout LIs, or demand wholesale changes to suit my personal tastes.

I just want to encourage devs to stick to their visions -- particularly if they are intent on crafting a story-first game. If they want to do a quality porn game... great! I might even enjoy it. But if they want to stand out from the crowd and create an original and compelling story, I'll go out of my way to support them morally and with £$£.

What I will not do is harass or troll devs for making a game I do not want to play, or whine pointlessly about their choices. That behaviour, which is all too common on this site, baffles me.

Yeah. I was more intend to half-joke and half-serious with that we do try to encourage devs to make the story good if nothing else. And if some dev were to suddenly drop the ball on a story in favor of porn stuff I'm sure there would be some who will voice their disappointment and concern. I can just imagine what jufots reaction would be if next update of Corporate Culture starts with Elsa saying "Oh, MC, I love you and your big dick, I don't care how many other girls you have as long as I can be with you".

That said, it is certainly much less of a problem.

Yeah, I never understood that. And if you defend a dev for making the game they want, you are a "shill".

Yeah, that'd probably be the end of this AVN business for me. I'd cancel my Patreons, delete my F95 account, and just give up on the whole thing :p

Groan. So true... and so horrible.

The grossest punter move on this site, though, is when devs are accused of being 'too successful' or 'milking.' 'Too successful' is pure jealousy and sour grapes, and 'milking' is usually tossed around falsely by people who have not contributed a dime to the dev or the game.

Naw, it would be great! You could commit ritual seppuku (virtually) like a samurai who has lost his master and cannot stand the shame of becoming ronin. After you disembowel yourself with your wakizashi, I'd be happy to decapitate you and end your suffering.

Yeah, dev is "milking" by taking their time and making a good update. And then dev gets cold feet and rushes out an update. The same people then complain that it is buggy and unfinished ...

It unfortunately can get much worse than that. I've been lucky so far, I've only had a few people "demand" I make changes to suit what they want - and they gave up once they realized I was very politely telling them to fuck off.

But I've spoken to other devs who have had it much worse - from targeted review bombs, to outright harassment (and not only relegated to here, or the official pages), some people become downright vile when you make it understood that you won't cater to their every whim. Their fans also end up facing some of that same harassment.

It'll always be baffling to me. There are plenty of games I don't like, and I just.... don't play them. I just can't wrap my head around the mentality of "You need to do what I want or else. Oh no I won't pay you, you just need to do it now".

I don't really see anyone here jumping on a dev or their fans like that, just because a game doesn't cater to their every whim.

There are uh... definitely people in some other threads I won't mention who would absolutely do that sort of shit though. It's sorta gross.

We do occasionally jump in on other threads to defend devs from behaviour like what you describe, noping. Jufot has been rather hilariously dogpiled on several occasions for confronting an unhinged mob bent on trolling a dev.

Sadly, there just aren't many of us. If _all_ the adults show up on the room at once, though... sometimes we can tamp things down for the poor dev.

It's the same as everywhere on the internet. Trolls are in endless supply and have infinite amount of time. Most reasonable people however have better things to do than argue with trolls.

I don't follow many games, but the ones I follow have great stories. I tend to prefer text games, I hope you don't mind that. Few visual games have enough depth to appeal to me, overall.

Inheritance - Great writing and story, lots of different characters to meet.
Strive for Power - An interesting story, although it's decent, it's short.
Overlord - A great parody, well written and interactive.

The first games I ever played were the original Infocom ones, and they still hold a special place in my heart. I remember when I was a kid my mom wasn't sure what to think about these games things I was playing. Her opinion changed when I asked for a thesaurus...

Text games are totally fine in my book. I haven't played any in a while, but I remember the Chris Cole erotic text games fondly.

I think this game hasn't been mentioned here before, but I happened on this while browsing Sci-fi after playing Toro and it's damn good.

A Long Journey. The premise is very similar to a movie Passengers, a guy wakes up from a cryosleep early on a ship full of sleeping colonists and has to figure out what the hell is going on. Soon he finds out that he's not alone as he meets a mysterious woman suffering from memory loss (a bit of a forgivable cliche).

I'm an hour in, and I'm very impressed. There's no porn logic, set ups are fine and the writing looks like the author is a native speaker. I suggest giving it a shot, it's well worth it.

Finally got around to playing through the latest Intertwined update. [spoilers]
Agreed completely. I especially love the incestuous trolling with Emily. It's been going in since the earliest chapters and frustrates certain people over on that thread :)

Holy shit this was amazing! So much so that I left a review, subscribed to the dev's Patreon, and added the game to the OP. Thanks for this brilliant recommendation :)

I'm finally done reading Intertwined for the first time, yay, i did it....

As already mentioned by others this AVN comes across a little like a Telenovela meets Porn kind of thing. Well, to some extent at least..At it's core it's not that much different from your average AVN. Here you play the hot tat Guy who everybody likes the moment they see him.... Which is cool and all and it makes a little more sense than in other AVN's since most of the Girls have history with the MC, but i still would've liked to see a little more bravery, a little bit more variety when it comes to all this relationship stuff...There are are so, so many ways write such things, but in AVN's for some reason it's always very streamlined, not many risks, always more or less the same approach..
Feels like AVN's have to follow some kind of guideline or some shit..., like there are actual rules when in reality there aren't :p

Tori is a good example for this in my opinion who was 1 of the Girls i went after...
Yeah, i know, freaking Tori, the school bitch who's after everybody who has a penis...What am i thinking, right?.
Well, i just thought she'd be a good opportunity to write about a different relationship angle, but that wasn't the case here=). She's just your fuck buddy afterall, which was a little dissapointing, but also to be expected of course....whatever...
I'm probably expecting too much from AVN's in general.

So in my Playthrough i ended up going after Erynn and (cough) ...Tori (cough, cough) and also Cara which was basically just a mistake on my part because i somehow thought the flashback would be just that, a flashback where you retell the MC's past and then that's it... Yeah..,i don't know what i was thinking there to be honest, it's like the most obvious plot twist out of all of them. It's not even a plot twist, it's just a given that the MC would meet her again and i still somehow managed to ignore that..

But overall a pretty good game i'd say, without a doubt above average. It tries to be a little different and it succeds at doing so in some ways, but on the other hand it didn't hook me completly either. It always felt like being right at the edge of becoming something awesome, but it never really pulled the trigger for me persoanlly.
