Generally fantasy stories are in a medieval(ish) setting and chances are most people wouldn't like the story of an average person during that time. You get married at 12, have 7 children by the time you're 22 but 5 of them die before they're 3, your wife is killed when enemy raiders burn your village, you're a grandfather at 30 and you die of dysentery at 32 (but you don't really mind, because the arthritis is almost crippling at that point.)
There's a big difference between the story of an average person and a story that can be written with a more regular protagonist, and that exaggerated rattle-off is a good example why more grounded medieval and fantasy stories serve a function: you wouldn't've written that if your misconceptions hadn't been reinforced by media. There are plenty of options besides peasants, and even then one of the most influential, famous and (in England) notorious women of the 15th century was born as a peasant girl.

Did play broken promises

This one might be another story first candidate.

Story's about the MC who's a cop who "retires" in order to go undercover to go against some drug dealer organization. Sounds kinda cringe at first, especially when later on it gets revealed that his undercover work takes place at some university/college (don't remember)..

It's funny because of what Hildegardt wrote about AVN's introducing some story only to then to take like a 10 chapter break right away, just doing LI rounds.. Broken promises does the opposite, to some extent at least. Like, when he shows up at school the game just starts developing characters and introducing side stories. And it kinda never stops doing that . Even some of the male side characters do get some more background added to them which I wasn't expecting to be honest. Same goes for the LI's who're all intertwined either with the story or with each other in some way.

The first LI that you can pursue is also an intersting choice. She has a kid and the MC does interact with her in a couple of scenes which kinda puts you on the spot if you do decide to go that route. I just thought that her placement within the story is interestingly chosen when you look at the whole thing and the pacing of it all.

As for the other female choices, first of all, this is a slow burn game. There's no real instant attraction between the LI's and the MC in which the MC becomes their center of the universe right from the get go. Or at least to a way lesser extent than we're used to... Also the MC is different from the usual, imo. He doesn't exactly goes back to school to score some "college chick".

On the flipside you might argue that he isn't a great undercover cop either :p. But that's by design, knowing all the other characters involvement. It's not like a crime, "noir" undercover story, it's this weird "bit of everything/AVN thingy" that tries to put in many different things all at once. For me personally it worked out great so far, but your mileage may vary here...

Great renders, great music, great animations, great.....

Go check it out if you're looking for something slightly different.
Thank you. I played this and really enjoyed it. I'm sad I got to the end of the material. And as you alluded to, you have to completely suspend your belief on anything related to "undercover cop" and just let that part be ridiculous. And, how school works, now that I think about it. Don't think, just read :).

So this little game called The Neverwhere Tales just had its chapter 6 release, its a fantasy setting with a focus on the story (for me that means no harem in sight lol) and characters. I wanted to throw out a recommendation for it, thanks.
Thanks. I did play this and think it is fun. I'd say it is full of tropes and has several flaws, but it still kept me interested and entertained. However, with the way that it is set up where you have different paths for LIs, each seemingly will shape the story in different ways, it may end up irritating me if replay it as updates come out (I usually start over each time because I forget important bits).
