We've almost reached the one year anniversary of the last update.
Lets just pray that he is still alive and just very bad at time keeping, or just procrastinated, or was such a perfectionist that he forgot to give us a status up but will drop an awesome update. Better late than never right... as long as he still alive?
Was going through my games to see if the ones I like got any recent updates and seeing this thread tagged with "abandoned" . . . guess I'll go pour out a 40
And that update was quite simple, it barely added any content.

No word on an update from the dev which is normal hence the abandoned tag. The dev is quite erratic when it comes to updates it could update next week, next month, or next year if you are a fan of this stick with it although patience will be required.

It's a regular occurrence to assume the dev is dead with how long it takes for him/her to update. And I don't mean update the game, I mean update US with what's going on. And this started pre-Covid.
I am convinced he died long ago, and it was just by shear force of will of his spirit remained a ghost trying to finish this master piece, but after the last bug fix update his ghost just ran out of endoplasmic energy to interact with the physical plane. Now he is just an angry spirit who haunts the living with regrets of not being able to finish his mission.

Shame he shouldn't feel since more than one year LocJaw has come up with these hiatuses without prior explanation and we still hope he'll finish this game. I simply don't put a drop of hope, but in it I hope that someone takes on this project and progresses because it's a waste to leave this great game like that.

Of course, a lot could have happened there: developer didn't feel like it anymore, not enough patreons, corona. However, the project itself was not legal either. Characters and story are an adaptation of Life is Strange (Dontnod Entertainment, Square Enix), after all, a game that is protected by copyright. It is possible that they noticed the project and legally stopped LocJaw.

We think he's dead every time between updates lol. Perhaps it is time to consider he might have a full time job and this is just a little side project he gets back to whenever the mood strikes him. if he makes another update good for him, if not there's always a different game by a different creator to look forward to.

I really liked the first 2 life is strange games, that being the original and before the storm... Didn't have much expectations going into strange night, figured it would just be a lifeless porn parody of Lis but I gave it a shot cause we'll.. Like I said I really like the first 2 games with Maxine and Chloe
I was surprised to find that this game is really interesting and it's pretty cool playing from Mark's perspective in this whole ordeal.. It's...its not just a porn game with LIS character models, it's got an actual story and even tho it's a visual novel it actually feels like this is part of the original games so it really really sucks that it won't be continued, was getting really into this game

Though I can't say that I liked Before the Storm, I can say that I agree with you about this being a quality game.

Loved this game when I played it last year. Sad to see the abandoned tag. Anyone know of similar games (story or aesthetic) that can scratch the same itch?
Pretty sure it falls under parody/fair use. It's the same way Sunsetriders7 has gotten away with using DCAU characters for years, or how The Architect was able to use Lara Croft for his porn game, Mity using Avatar characters etc. Even if it didn't qualify, it would be extremely easy to make it fit. Like slightly changing the names of the characters or the school or things like that would 100% be enough.
I only found out about the game a few days ago and tried it out, so I don't know a lot about the dev. I looked a few things up and found out that the dev was never very successful on patreon; at his peak he only made about $300 a month. I normally would've blamed that for it, but we all know plenty of people that make thousands and are still flaky, like gumdrop or icstor and so on.
Anyway, I don't know the reason why the dev abandoned it but I'm sure the legality of the project wasn't it.
