We'll probably never know the full reasons and yea it's probably multiple things.
Interestingly I see some games where I wait a month or more as low tier supporter unless I pay a sizeable amount, so I really don't know what affects something leaking or not. The whole financial model is weird. If you support a typical project for 5 years (typical dev length) for just 1$ a month that's price of a AAA game, for something that may become unfinished and it's a tiny project in comparison (1-5 people not 300 working on it, and it's a more or less linear story with limited interaction compared to an 'actual' game). Apparently the value proposition is not right, and the business model also doesn't work for most... kinda like mopbile development maybe?
Anyway, story was weird but interesting, characters kinda bland and 2 dimensional but some unique ones for sure, I prefer better models however this project sure had some interesting atmosphere and it's a pity that it's over. All the best to the developer.
