at the very least this is entertaining
Oh, don't get me wrong; I love a good debate. And thanks to some members, I realized some of the things I've missed in the game. But try to explain the same things over and over again and every single time a new one makes the same argument that has already made for the sixth time.

At least you got a kick out of it

You think Elspeth could diffuse the situation when a 2 metre giant couldn't do it? I am genuinely curious how you'd propose her to do it?
I once heard an interview with Bas Rutten where he talked about how some guy in a bar tried to pick a fight with him and challenged him to step outside. Bas agreed and walked towards the door. Friends of the dumbass ran up to him and quickly explained who Bas Rutten was, and you know what happened next? Nothing.

See, it turns out that inebriated douchebags tend to get a little less eager to fight when they know the guy they just challenged is actually a world class MMA fighter. So my suggestion for Elspeth would be to go with what Valentine was already doing and make Valentine the focus instead of trying to make it about her. Tell them who Valentine is, or better yet, just pull up an article on Valentine about his MMA record and upcoming fight. And not directly insult them while doing so.

So what if she insulted a puny douchebag in order to intimidate him to make him back off?
Again, her insulting him is what made the fight inevitable. She wasn't trying to make him back off, she wanted him to take a swing at her. You see her say so in the game. I even pulled the quote for you to re-read. If you getting frustrated with with people disagreeing with you, maybe you might want to consider that you are in the wrong here.

So what if she's a genius? Do you honestly think a genius can pull off an option out of their ass in every situation they face?
No, but I do expect her to be able to figure out a very simple solution like this. Two douchebags are trying to make themselves look tough. Backing down from a fight with a woman is not happening. She can't make this about her. It has to be about the "2 meter giant" who is also a world class MMA fighter in his prime.

Additionally, she could also talk about other benefits of not fighting, such as spending time with other girls out there who might be interested in them instead of rolling around in the sand with some dude on the beach. Inflate their egos by lying to them and say that she saw some ladies checking them out earlier and they were back inside or something.

There were better strategies for diffusing a situation here. She chose the worst possible one. This is either because she's a moron or she wanted the fight. The game says she's a genius, so she's not a moron and she wanted the fight. The game shows her saying that she wanted the fight, so she wanted the fight. It's not a mystery here. You shouldn't be struggling to understand this.

Anybody who pays attention to the game can connect the dots here. Viridiana tells Elspeth that Valentine and her brother bonded over fighting. Elspeth sees a fight about to break out and makes sure it happens so that she can fight alongside Valentine. When he is patching up her bloody nose, Elspeth tells Valentine "We're officially brothers in arms now" before leaning in for a kiss. These are not difficult dots to connect. It's a straight line right through all of them.

Valentine himself could've done that as well. Be mad at him, not Els. She might very well thought that Valentine didn't want those two to know who he is.

I already explained to you how I see it. THEY WERE ON COKE! Besides, you intentionally refuse the most important take I had about this whol thing:

She tried to intimidate them. She almost succeeded it. But they were high on coke, and wasn't in the mood to follow reason. Say it with me you pancake eating MoFo: THEY WERE HIGH ON COKE!!! They weren't going to back off, no matter what.
How on earth you guys keep missing that?
Besides, I already explained that Elspeth being there, even if she instigated the fight though she certainly didn't, helped Valentine immensely.
It wouldn't have been possible for Valentine to stop both of them without harm coming to any of them if he had to deal with them just by himself. He would've needed to throw at least a punch and Valentine already one punched someone when he was 17 y.o. to protect Viridiana. He would have probably killed or seriously injure at least one of them, if not both. That is the exact reason why he doesn't like street fights. That's exactly why he is afraid of his capabilities. And you wanted him to go through almost the exact scenario, in order to save the exact same girl plus her friend? How distorted is your view on life and fiction depicting life?
Thanks to Elspeth dealing with one of them, all Valentine had to do was to lock the other one. No one harmed. No one ended in custody. And definitely no one ended up in jail or in morgue.
Read this over and over again until it got through your thick skull. Elspeth's being there difused the situation for Valentine, even if she was the one instigating the fight. He wouldn't be able to stop both douchebros from following the girls in a non-harmful way if he was alone. They were already making a thing before Elspeth even showed up.

Besides, Elspeth has feelings too. She could be furious to those who dare to challenge Valentine or threaten the girls. This is a male protagonist game, but that doesn't mean everything will go just according to said protagonist's, meaning player's, whims.

No, but I do expect her to be able to figure out a very simple solution like this. Two douchebags are trying to make themselves look tough. Backing down from a fight with a woman is not happening. Valentine already offered to buy them drinks. He tried and failed to difuse the situation but you don't blame him for that. You just blame Elspeth, who came in late. Stay silent for a second. Then tried to intimidate them which failed. Then she took care of the DoucheBro-2, so Valentine can lock DoucheBro-1 without no one getting really injured.

Do you have any idea how Delta you sound? Blaiming an AVN character for something you don't like in said AVN, which ended up briliantly? Do you blame mommy for being a virgin too? Did daddy abondoned you and mommy, and didn't teach you how to throw a ball or be a man in general?

I'm done responding to you. Honestly, hate Elspeth as much as you want. I don't care, it's your choice. You deliberately ignore the most important aspects of this whole argument.

Edit: Dear moderator, the part starting with "say it with me you pancake eating" part was a direct quote from Draft Day:

Honestly, that was not meant to be an insult but a comic relief.

You were arguing your position quite persuasively up to this point, but I feel this last bit drifted too far into personal attacks. Look, I can understand the emotion that this kind of discussion brings (these are love interests in an adult game after all), but resorting to immature insults just ends up hurting your case, at least in the eyes of the silent audience observing the debate – who are the only ones that can be reasonably swayed to your point of view.

You can read for yourself how well articulated and on point I was until being forced to explain the same thing seventh time, just for him to intentionally ignore the most important point yet again. One can't have a well mannered discussion in good faith if the other side put their hands on their ears and sing lalalalal. So I just gave up on explaining things to someone who is adamant on not understanding them, and just served him what he deserved.

This debate had nothing to do with emotions towards a character, at least for me. I repeatedly said that one may like or dislike a character. I even said I hate Elspeth's physique myself, yet fancying her for Valentine. As Tanita Tikaram put it: I don't care about the different thaughts, different thaughts are good for me. What I can't stand is ignoring facts, just because of your beliefs or emotions. How many times was I supposed to explain what he claims is wrong? How many times did I have to tell the exact same thing with different words? After how many of my attempts he becomes the faulty party?

I appologies to every bystander for my outburst but I am behind it hundred percent. Life is too short to try to explain things to idiots and snides.

You think Elspeth could diffuse the situation when a 2 metre giant couldn't do it? I am genuinely curious how you'd propose her to do it? Screaming like a school girl who saw a mouse? Pulling Valentine's arm, and involuntarily giving douchebros an opening to attack him? Showing them her tits? Going down on all four and letting them have their turns? HOW WOULD YOU PROPOSE A WOMAN TO DIFUSE A SITUATION WITH TWO COKE HEADS?
The same way they start riots, by showing some tits.

I joke, I am thinking that some people actually thinks that way though.

Valentine himself could've done that as well. Be mad at him, not Els.
Perhaps he would've tried that next if Elspeth had allowed him to continue. We won't know because Elspeth never gave him the chance to deescalate the situation further.

Elspeth's being there difused the situation for Valentine, even if she was the one instigating the fight.
Again, she clearly didn't. She insults the guy, and provokes him into fighting. She would've been able to assist in any fight that broke out just as easily if she had been silently standing next to him. So her making it a two on two fight didn't require her to insult anyone.

Valentine already offered to buy them drinks. He tried and failed to difuse the situation but you don't blame him for that. You just blame Elspeth, who came in late. Stay silent for a second. Then tried to intimidate them which failed.
Once again, what you insist was a genuine attempt to intimidate the guy was never ever going to work, and Elspeth would know it. They have no reason to believe anything she says. She only makes the situation worse. Insulting him and boasting about how easily she could beat him was the fastest way to start a fight short of actually throwing the first punch.

Hello lovelies. Easy update today.
Just settling into the early update cycle, getting our opening scenes written out. All that good stuff. Finished creating all our new sets and characters for the update and I'm pretty happy with them. Now it's just time to hit the usual grind.
Not much else this week. early days so nothing super exciting to share.
As I mentioned last week OG Author downloads will be coming down in about twelve hours. So last call for those who absolutely have to have a copy now.
We'll be having our first Blue Belt art stream on Sunday the 21st at about 1pm Pacific, if you have the time feel free to stop by for a while.
That's about it for today, thank you as always for the support and I hope you have a lovely upcoming weekend.

10gb wtf?
Yeah, it's not much, but it's nearly impossible for "small" devs like STWA to make a render for each line of dialogue and also animations take their time to made. It's not a studio with 1312 employees, so we have to make compromises between development times and amount of graphic/music content.

Hello dears. Above render was just a little something I put together in our most recent art stream as a thanks for your continuing support.
Not much to really discuss this week, but I'll check in anyway. Just chipping away at early update stuff, I'm trying to get the first 15,000 words or so of the script finished up before I start getting the renders going. I like to have something of a base before I start messing with all that fancy stuff.
Script is flowing pretty well so far, pathing is fairly simple so far compared to the nightmare of last time., so my testers should be happy at least. At least for now...
Not much else on the dev side, still waiting on some official confirmation from the higher ups at steam for my page to go up. Otherwise it's just the usual grind, so far feeling happy with the progress I'm making so far. We'll see how long that lasts.

Anyway that's it for today. I hope you all have a lovely weekend. And as always thank you so much for your support.

Sláinte!

This has probably been talked about before, I just couldn't find it.
On many occasions when the MC gets close to Elspeth, she has the habit of looking away and focusing on something else for just a bit. I always thought this was a tactic, or a quirk, but now I think she, like the MC, is also "seeing" dead people. I could for sure be overanalyzing this though. Anyway, just wanted to share the theory.

Els straight up has PTSD. She has haunting visions of herself bloodied and bruised all the time. She had them right after she met Valentine, on the train station. She had them while talking to the shrink about telling Valentine her military past. I think she sees "ghosts" on those occasions. She's seen things in the service which marked her. That's why she wants "peace even for a moment".

Both of them have PTSD, though they display differently.
