I mean, it's healthy to be pessimistic about kickstarter projects as they don't really have a good track record.

And this is a porn studio that hasn't ever made a videogame. And with a budget that they've never had before. And now they are changing goalposts, going from "we'll release episodically" to "nah we gotta release this altogether" to "nah we will do it episodically".

This has all the red flags of shitty management and direction. If it comes out and it's good, that's great! Seriously. I'd love to play it.

But not being on a hype train is completely acceptable. Star Citizen, Cyberpunk, so on and so forth. Game development goes wrong very often. What's unhealthy is the mindset that the kickstarter supporters have, they spent money on the game and have some sort of sunk cost shit going, some cult-like stuff.
The reason they went back to the chapter release plan is for 2 reasons, 1 people are begging to play the game constantly and they want to release something people can play now, so they're going to release the first 6 chapters which is a lot as opposed to waiting another year or 2 and the other reason is that the game is longer than they planned on it being. There's no indication that it's due to poor direction or poor decisions, the main driving force is people wanting to play / see what they paid for beyond development diaries and beta gameplay videos on youtube which are solid updates but there comes a point where people want more.

StudioFOW is overrated. There are superior single animators out there that make higher quality 5 second loops over their shody 15 minute 'movies'. This game ain't no way going to be good.
Yeah, Fpsblyck shits on all of the fow artists combined essentially. Still from what I've seen Subverse's stuff seems acceptable. Not amazing, but okay.

Indeed, kickstarter projects don't have a good record. And we can't put too much hope in a newbie studio. I know they are well known for their movies, but they are new in the gaming industry (their previous flash games don't count), also they are using a new engine which they are not used to.

But

Shitty management would be not adapting to the situation. They saw that people are eager to play it, and development time was bigger than expected, so they took the decision of releasing in chapters. I see no problem about this. Actually, I'm quite happy.

Not our fault 5 seconds is enough for you.

Looking back at the early development comments about Subverse, don't really get why so many people are upset that the women will fuck monsters. I mean thats studio FOW's entire thing, some of their earliest work is the joker getting cucked and forced to watch harley get fucked by dogs and they've been doing nothing but monster/rape/gangbangs

I think the good thing with Subverse is it sounds like they're making all of that stuff optional so that people who are into that will still have it, and those who aren't won't have it be forced.

I know exactly what StudioFow's tendencies are, what I'm worried about is this game has far, far, FAR outgrown studiofow's meager reputation. It's the biggest porn game ever. Many people have 0 idea what studiofow is and yet still wishlist the game on steam 'Cuz its the first big porn game everrrrr.

I think many of steam's vanilla tasted people will be quite put off when the game finally does come out. This game's reach has outgrown the minority that follows the niche fetishes of studiofow.

It's not. There are lots of japanese porn games from Illusion, Kiss, Miconisomi, that may have the same budget as Subverse. Look at koikatsu, for example, sold about 10k or 20k copies only on steam (disconsidering other platforms). Since it's sold for 50USD, its easily 500k on steam alone.

The MC is a humanoid. So there will be plenty of vanilla content. I would be shocked if FOW went full blind mode and didn't notice what you just said.

I am used to these Japanese Eroge, with a ton of different sex positions and customization, so I'm sure I won't see something out of the ordinary. But I bet it will be much better than the VN-plague the adult game industry offers today. Also better than the single devs who make good 3D games but have little resources.

Ya, sure wish they'd get an updated game trailer and waifu trailers up.
The DEV Diary that was supposed to come out jan 28th would have new stuff, a "hand holding" scene, a website update and, I might be wrong here, a new trailer, I remember reading about the trailer but I'm too lazy to go and check right now..
Anyway, they promissed 2 updates this month, lets just hope they deliver on the first update.

Ya I saw they said they were going to do the two updates this month now instead of one...I'll be happy just seeing a brief teaser of some kind and if they can release in March that would be fantastic.

Yeah? Might just be another set of animations that they release every month. That's the funny thing about Kikestarter/Paymetron: they're "donations" so you've already got an uphill battle if you think you deserve some consideration because you paid money. You are extremely unlikely to get anything for your "payment" and even then you almost certainly won't get anything remotely like what you want or were promised.
Uh... look at the Kickstarter updates page? They've delivered on 90% of promises they have made, They have released new development diaries every 2 weeks for the last year and a half + proving and showing what they have made / have been working on. There's a ton of beta footage on YouTube by the uploader Halfpint and most recently an hour long look at the game with the YouTuber arch, no matter what you think of his political views, they delivered yet again. There's an actual game being developed, and a ton of proof of the game being developed. There is currently no logical reason to believe that the game is fake.

90 percent?

I don't see 10 percent of a game that is done lmao. The game isn't fake, but the development has gone to shit and that's a fact. It's taking far longer than what was promised and the fact that it's switching goalposts between episodic and full release shows that it's not going as planned.

But sure ride studiofow's dick why dontcha.

I'm not going to be suprised if they can't make the game fast enough and be forced to return the money they gained from Kickstarter back.
