That's your opinion (which you are welcome to) on the issue and potential resolution, but you're flat out factually incorrect on the content - as we've just discussed with screenshots, watching the associated GIF isn't the issue, it is the fact that xeno story content is canon in the game. It is not optional no matter how much you wish it to be.

Thing is we're still in Early Access - if the studio wanted to fix this issue, it's actually an INCREDIBLY simple issue to resolve which would equate to more sales if they are interested but it doesn't sound like they are. Literally a minute adjustment of the Codex, and tweaking some of the dialogue to ensure it doesn't reference this stuff - they don't even have to delete some of the dialogue lines - they could literally just tie some of the commentary regarding canonized sex with mantics into scene unlocks with Lily / Xeno content and offer an alternative line if they like that modifies her backstory and has the other characters talk about other stuff regarding her if desired to keep it out of the story. So simple to fix. If they resolved this, when it goes to final version, I'd buy it for full price.

They could have included these as avoidable dialogues and even scenes, but that would have been considered too much work for them. The reason why the Mantic scenes are locked into Pandora is precisely because of the extreme salt people were getting over the idea of NTR, or at least what they assumed was NTR. Yeah in a fairly lengthy post a while back I had said that they probably should have considered just going full on NTR / Cuck as they clearly wanted to because this 'halfsies' crap isn't really making people happy. The xeno Lily stuff is still narratively there no matter what the player does. If they'd implemented some options either for the player to make manually at the beginning of the game, or that were simply code injected based on scene unlocks in pandora, that would basically solve the issue for a lot of people. I know it's mentioned in the codex too via that screenshot someone posted earlier, but that's an easy text re-write that could also be left unmodified if people unlock Lily xeno scenes in pandora.

And on the Steam reviews - I agree with you completely. When I check out a game, I do my sort based on most recent, verified Steam owner, and have 3-5 hours of playtime as the minimum (more if it's a big RPG type game that takes hundreds of hours).

Don't imply the people who follow the work of Animopron, noname55, Wildeer Studio, and the former work of studio fow got what the wanted here. No one wants to listen to these girls talk about fucking dogs and past relationship drama at the expense of genre staples like content on lose (nonconsentual) and a companion system where the player coerces can convince the girls who aren't lily to take that mantic D. Instead we got cringe dialogues, "lore" logs, and the pandora system confirming at some point in a blackout stupor the captain let random non mantic ayy lmaos run a train on the robot he puts his dick in alongside the other greyed out contextless porn snippets.

All on top of the fact it's all canon and unavoidable. On top of the game being objectively rudimentary and the player having no material choice to control the goings on of his own ship, much less effect the plot in any way.
No one got what they wanted out of this. Blame compromise, blame the normie boogeyman, but someone decided to give the mantics humanoid dicks and frame every on launch locked camera angle to hide the fact. Someone decided to ignore the coercive monster sex market to cater to the faux egalitarian simping of those who are so damaged they want to force hypergamy into a fixed male protagonist power fantasy porn game.

If they had more talent for this they'd have followed the axiom of "out of sight out of mind" and put a choice menu or autoplay event literally anywhere to gate seeing the scenes in game. If they had more forethought they'd have sidestepped the "NTR" debate entirely by making the lions share of girl interactions with mantics player triggered within the narrative. For the captains enjoyment following the fetish of novelty like the framing of the vast majority of their older media.

People went into this being acutely aware of their previous works and what they expected from studiofow. And StudioFow knew it too. The opening tagline of the launch trailer paraphrased is "from the degenerates who were banned off patreon for making a nightelf fuck a werewolf" for a reason.

FOW didn't foresee that so many normies would react negativity to this before the game was even released, so they quickly clamored for a solution, but chose a bad one instead.

The recent "mixed" reviewers on steam may feel misled about the monster sex (but are probably more flabbergasted by the state of the game) because the steam promotional material can't be as... direct, but most people following the game knew of it's existence since the first launch trailer. Mantic sex was part and parcel, so I agree the real problem is how shittily they handled it's execution.
People here at least are reacting primarily to two things

1. the female hypergamy excuse is cringe and undermines this class of game. Simple as
2. the content is unavoidable on your personal playthough due to game construction

Games like the classic CoC and T.I.T.S. have FAR more intelligent takes on hypergamy, NPC "agency", what have you but it's balanced by one important thing. Player choice. Hell, CoC2 literally has it's first introduced character state plainly she won't be in a monogamous relationship and you get the choice to accept that, stop pursuing her sexually/romantically, or stop using her as a companion entirely. A mix of dialogue prompts and mechanic based choices to tailor content to the players tastes while "respecting her agency." The way the devs and their "fans" use "yeah well we wrote her to fuck mantics" "the "crew" category somehow isn't literally NTR don't look at that!" as if it's a shield just shows they don't have the emotional intelligence to touch these fetishes and frankly shouldn't have tried. Or door number 2, it's all unintended and the justification a total copout of not knowing what the framing of their own pornographic content was and scrambling for an answer.

The thought process for normie and degenerate alike is "That isn't engaging (because I don't want bestiality/because my pure waifus/because it isn't framing mantic sex in an interesting way)" followed by "and you won't let me not be party to it." Inadvertent or no, it's either bad game design or bad plot-companion construction or both. And even now they could still fix these framings instead of circle the wagons where they can censor these conversations.

Too much discussion for a game that is just "ok" it is not like it is a new The Witcher 3 (or any game-of-the-year) for adults. Get a break, game can be real good but it is up to the creator and what they do with it. It could turn into a freaking mess or something really good.

It's not part of the main story, it doesn't get thrown in your face, you not forced to watch Lilly fornicate with xeno's etc. That you get to know about her prone to do it, is a different tale. Do you go every day think about the past experiences your partner had before meet you too?

They already addressed the progression on updates and what will come forward. Also with early access games there is no standard in regard of updates. Just as there is no standard in regard of updates for games on this site either. I expect it to rain cash every day, but hey then reality set in.

The characters on the ship acknowledge this with dialog. Plus Lily's "endurance tests" with the xenos....

Yes we are not forced to "watch it" but it still happens in the background regardless and is canon.
We are just hoping that the devs will make it avoidable/preventable in the game.
Because we are just as hyped for the game as you are.
