Is this game different at all? I played the first release and was just a bunch of different minigame style games with erotic content at the end, same shit now?

Why's this game got such bad reviews? I haven't played it, so I don't know.
Solid shoot-em-up mode, really badly done kind of x-com turn-based mode, horrible dogshit writing, and then the majority of the porn is, although the highest quality 3D animation on this website, devoid of almost any context.
Play around in the two game modes, spend points to unlock animations. That's the game.
It's one of the best games on this site, not recommendable.

Just gonna correct a bit here, but the grid combat is more in line with the Final Fantasy Tactics series. Most people just attributed it to XCOM because it’s recent and also featured aliens :p

I mean could you realistically expect 400 scenes to all be tied into the main narrative somehow? I can't imagine trying to script that into like every sidequest or planet, and not expect things to go wrong.

Also not every scene is gonna appeal to everyone, so I'd hate to see the scenario where someone puts work into clearing a quest, just to get a scene in a genre that they never liked.

It might irritate some people, but I think this was the safest way to do it. You unlock what you want to see, you're never tricked into viewing something you didn't want to. No mantic dick is shoved into someone's face unless they specifically go into the Xeno category. You don't like futa, avoid that section. But I wouldn't tie that into the main game, cuz then what does that do for other playthroughs, you're essentially telling people to not go through certain parts because it'll lead to things they're not into.

Scripting scenes into the story would be simpler if it were say just the captain and the ladies. That's a much smaller field to deal with. You could get that from say Treasure of Nadia, lots of scenes with lots of ladies, but its only ever just the one guy, so that's a simpler focus.

Really the simplest way to explain Pandora is that its all the boning the crew gets up to during all the time the story takes place. Its mentioned in Killi's recruitment quest that the treasure map hunt took a number of weeks. There's no exact timeline, but its a lot like any RPG where you can spend hours doing things but in-story its been months.

In the end the scenes that are in the main story are the ones most relevant. The recruitment scenes when they're brought on the team. Ela, Taron, and Sova's stories were worked on to be more promiscuous in response to early feedback. And through playtime the relationship with each lady grows, and culminate in personal quests that'll end with cinematic boning, which as I've mentioned before are meant to be several minutes long. Multiply that by 10 and you gotta see why they couldn't just apply this to every scene, and make everything premium level, with everything having a climax, with a limited budget, and team members that are not gonna be around the development forever.
No no, you are so wrong, this was supposed to be a PORN GAME, not game with some porn in it, not the first person that says it, there are even some reviews that point out the same thing, not only that, there isn't a lot of them, most are rather boring, the scenes itself aren't incorporated into game and are not in any way dynamic, just plays the animation as it was made, there are no variations to them, you can't choose where you cum and in general doesn't matter, they should have just made it a VN with interactive animation system, choices of your action during sex scenes would affect the story, that would be 100 better than what we got which is boring turn based combat and some other grindy fillers.

Reviews may say it, but the devs and the VA's have all mentioned it being a game with porn, not just a porn game.

They don't need to be dynamic or clickable like every other game. That they play in real time is already significantly different from your average VN.

Are you disappointed about any part of this game or do you just ride?

I don't want to insult FF Tactics like that, so I'm sticking to x-com as the comparison
But it would be a horrible attempt at Tactics too, you're right.

no I wouldn't call it a 10/10. Its an in development title. Clearly there's things to work on, but I ain't gonna pretend this isn't the best adult-themed game we've ever had. Like I can't really go back to just reading text VN's with no voices, or the various number of lookalike Renpy games. This raised the bar imo.

"its taking after this"

"Okay well its not precisely that either, therefore horrible"

You gotta have better arguments then that. They picked two simple modes that could be made to be fast-paced. Not a basic match-3, or click the bubbles as they appear. Working within the limits of what they have. If they'd gone for something more complex, we'd probably be 5 updates in the past.

I'm not sure you read my post, which says "you're right" on it

I'd be quite happy with this. More complex maps would take longer, and of course that'd add up, and if that means it slows down to 5 fewer updates of progress by this point in time, it's a pretty good tradeoff. That isn't bad at all. Good H-games are a very rare treat, and I like to see it.

The thing is though they don't have a support system, they're strictly working with what they got from Kickstarter. So the game devs they've hired aren't working for free, they're legit contracted to work with them. So right now the priority is finishing what's there. Anything else like refinements, system changes, additional scenes, the backer DLC, can be done afterwards.

They didn't ask for more money because they don't want to become like say Star Citizen, which took on more and more money, leading to tons of feature creep.

So for what they got, and what they've done with it, without any real slowdown besides the initial launch (which had a myriad of good reasons, like bringing on new staff and the lead dev going on paternity leave), they've stuck to consistent 3-4 month updates. Now they're on the verge of finishing, possibly even this year if we're lucky.
