Ya I just did a quick sort on Steam to look at negative reviews sorted by recently submitted and have at least 2 hours of play time - seems to be pretty assorted. A lot of the same complaints we see here (I skipped over any Chinese references - legit complaint, but not applicable to most of us, here) - ie. game too short, porn content not very good (for various reasons), complaints about the boring gameplay - mostly with the grid combat, cringey dialogue / jokes, slow updates, etc. Many of these things we see in the reviews here on this site, so lots of folks basically coming to the same rational conclusions that we see here. Lots of things wrong with the game, it'll be interesting to see what items they address moving forward.

‘Game too short’ it’s in development? And last I checked there were people complaining things took too long to get to the smut, so which is it?

‘porn content not very good’ subjective (even though I agree it needs work). They’ve already heard this, but we can’t expect an entire system to be reworked in a single update.

‘Boring gameplay’ I still don’t get how people can call these minigames compared to other smut games that are basic match 3 or point and click types. We were never gonna get ‘the Mass Effect of’ porn as it was overhyped to be by outside reports We saw what the gameplay was going to be like very early.

They’ve also been working on giving the two modes more variety, like the upcoming stealth mission with Taron.

‘cringey dialogue’ - again subjective, but FOW’s humor has pretty apparent since their movie days, lest we forget their habit of putting the TF2 Scout everywhere until the patrons killed him off.

‘slow updates’ - addressed last year with perfectly good reasons. The ela update came ahead of its announced date and Taron’s been dated within the same period of projected time.

I know it's unfathomable to you ( ) that people don't like the game for a bunch of really good reasons, but it's reality given the reviews people are posting both here and on Steam, so...yeah. Maybe it'll get better in time.

Yep, this isn't even remotely surprising given the state of the game at present.
Could it get better? Sure. I don't expect them to address my personal cons list, so it will remain a pirate exclusive for me in all likelihood, but maybe for some they'll get it fixed to a point that people start giving more positive reviews.

Chinese review bombing has been resolved in November, the negative reviews in the last 30 days have nothing to do with that.

The game had been getting some post honeymoon phase negative or less than stellar reviews long before the whole Chinese review bombing fiasco. It's become a staple cope excuse to push all negative reviews on that one incident. There's been a bunch of convos in the past about how more than 50% of the positive reviews on release of the game were of people who praised it before even playing it, or only just 30 minutes in of playing it.

People will meme on this not being a valid critic due to it's simplicity, but then pretend there aren't over 400 reviews with only 20 minutes clocked into playing the game and praising it as the best thing ever to this day.

does the game have a model poser mode thingy yet? lol
or is it still just limited to the animation sequences
well by the looks of it i guess not
r we still unable to rotate the camera around, probably not for that too i guess
i remember seeing someone edit it with mods or something where was that post again? can't remember lol

There WAS a hardcore aspect to this game that made it different from the vanilla sims, but that's been slowly getting removed. Don't forget, FD2 was supposed to be the super hardcore version of FD1 until the devs sold out for that Steam $$.
It's just a glorified interactive 3D gallery now with good models. For the vanilla masses, that's sadly (good) enough.

The game was never strictly going to have Loli. Sova, who is fairly likely to be next character is a 800 year old alcoholic Dwarf milf. That’s always how she was set up. As for beastiality, I don’t know what you call mindless monsters fucking the crew, but this was always the way it was promoted, to get around laws/ rules about content like that.

I honestly can’t imagine anyone in to Vanilla being thrilled with the content of this game. I agree the gallery was a disappointing way of doing things.

My main complaint is the timeline. After 3 years only having 4 (including Taron) fuckable characters is not great progress.

a model poser? Think you’re looking for the gallery mode then. That’s been added since about mid-2021. There’s various poses, filters and such you can get as you progress waifu devotion levels

Anyone have experience taking the current version of the game and using saves from that for future updates? I'm basically wondering if I download the current version (or the version released tomorrow) if I can download future updates to the game and keep my progress. Thanks!

Not sure. Up to this point the game has always been a Steam version. I wouldn't be surprised if what begins getting shared is the GOG (no-DRM) copy, so no way to tell if the saves will be compatible or not until just trying it. Worst case, just replay the game.

Dunno how it works with not owned copies, but Subverse saves all end up in the same place and carry over each official update.
