Played through a good bit of the game, so here's my feedback. First, the good bits.
1) The story and world building is great, as is the map design. I'm looking forward to what else will possibly be in the town later on, or even in later towns.
2) Despite being a different artist from Succubus Covenant, I can definitely appreciate this art style just fine.
3) The scenes are good, if a bit repetitive after the first couple of climaxes.
And now for the bits I didn't care so much for.
1) Combat is a slog, no two ways about it. The animations take forever, after any fights with human males you have to manually skip the post-combat heal, and then the fights in general feel like they last a bit too long. Even with a full party, it tends to take 3 turns to finally finish off enemies. I'm also not actually sure what the status effect the Dirty Fighting attack the bandits can do actually does. The poison and paralysis effects were pretty easy to get, but I have no clue what the DF attack is even trying to do. Finally, magic attacks should be able to crit. I sometimes saw my physical attacks doing well over 80 damage at the start of the game, so I have to assume that's because the physical attack got a critical hit. Spells on the other hand seem reliable since they can't miss like normal attacks (at least as far as I can tell), but their damage is really low considering you're giving up MP to use them.
2) Grinding takes a good while, and equipment doesn't seem to help improve things that much. One thing that would've helped early on is if I'd have known without looking in this thread that I can sell the essence items with no worry. I actually figured I'd need to save it to do some sort of summon later on, so I hoarded it at first.
3) Conversations with the merchants need a flag set after the first time you've talked to them. The flavour text around them the first time is great, but after that there's no reason for the intro text all over again, not to mention the intro is quite a few frames of text per each merchant, so it tends to add up in time spent.
4) I'd honestly prefer if there was a single target heal added as a second lowest tier spell in the plant magic school. Often times after a fight the reason I need to heal isn't due to all 3 characters taking a beating, it's because a single character got targeted by bad RNG. I realize potions exist, but I'm a penny pinching person, so whenever I got too injured, I'd usually take the time to slog my way all the way back to the ziggurat, and then get the free healing there. I wanted to get upgrades since I figured they'd actually be somewhat impactful, but they were a bit disappointing.
5) SP should work similar to how MGQ Paradox does it, start each fight with 50% of your cap. This way the characters like the orc and leaf succubus can actually take part in the fight early on, but they will need to take some time charging back up after. Currently SP characters just feel a bit bland since it takes them a couple of turns to get the SP for an attack, and then they fire it off once before needing to shift back to normal attacks. This plays into my first point, it makes combat slow.
I hope this feedback is useful, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of what you do with this series, Zion!
Hey, man! I really appreciated the feedback! I'll go by points that you disliked, ok?
1-Combat:
--Animation: I don't know what to say about this because it's the default animation for RPG Maker. Basically every RPG Maker game has them.
--I removed RNG from the game. To avoid becoming too easy or too hard.
--Dirty Fight makes it harder to hit. It's like throwing sand at someone.
--The magical attacks usually have some effects to them. And there are enemies who are weaker to some attacks. Fro example, the Leaf Succubus is weak against fire spells.
--This game was created in a kinda unique way. This will make your life much easier:
---As soon as you leave the Ziggurat go to the Ice school of magic.
---Get the Quest to summon the Orc
---Avoid any battles if you can in the ruin. Summon the Orc from the summoning circle.
---Grind some bandits and buy them (Kaalim and summon) a few tier 1 equipment.
---Go to the angelic ruin to get the anti acid angelic relic.
---hunt the leaf succubus
---defeat her in her lair and summon her.
---At this point you will become a powerhouse. Go defeat the mercenaries and sell their loot for money to buy better spells and items for Nemorosa as well.
--You can rest at the INN, in the village. Just 5 gold which is nothing compared to the price of the loot. No reason to go back to the Ziggurat.
2-I think I covered in 1 LOL
3-I forgot to add that. They will skip conversation next time, just like the schools of magic.
4-I replayed this game many times, I never had problems with money. Potions are really cheap. Specially Tier 1 and 2. And you have an INN in the village. Just 5 gold.
5-I don't know... the game felt balanced, imo. For example, there will be summons later on which will be very powerful. If you start the fight being able to use their special attacks it might make the game too easy. But I'll see what I can do. Perhaps an item later on where you can equip in your summon? Many possibilities.
Again, thanks for your time. I hope this makes the game easier for you in the future
