No, not really. You could simply skip some small updates and then when you play you'll have more content and this way don't be sad
As I already said here a while ago, the biggest problem with smaller, more frequent updates is that you have to provide some meaty content with each of them, so this approach can affect the story's desired progression.

In games mainly focused on porn and fetishes that's not much of an issue: in every update the MC will fuck this or that girl in the morning, another one after class, another one in the gym in the evening, and probably also a milf before going to bed. In that type of game the only story choice the devs have to make is who is gonna get fucked in every update.

However, in games like SH that intend to have some nice story with character development and also a more artistic approach, figuring out what content you're going to include in every update is a more touchy subject. Storywise, the update must feel meaningful, but at the same time it is advisable to include some sexy content too without getting into fuckfest territory.
If you're providing a big update every X months, these issues aren't so difficult to solve because there will always be enough story in that update to warrant a few meaningul and satisfying intimate scenes. However, if you provide a short update every two months for example, you run the risk of including too much story and no sex, or too much sex and little story, or a specific sex scene too early because you felt the need to include some sex, etc. It's not as simple as "if you don't like small updates, skip a few and then play them all at once." It doesn't work like that; short updates totally change the flow of the story in this type of more story-oriented games, even if the devs try to help it; the final product doesn't feel the same.

Now, as we have discussed before, the problem here was going straight from 2-month development cycles to 11 months or longer; I'm convinced that's not what the fans where picturing when they voted in the poll. There must be a compromise, i.e. a game plan allowing the devs to publish a substantial update two or three times a year advancing the story and providing a couple of hot scenes.

I could agree with you, but of the 4 chapters this game has, the first 3 of were small chapters and they were HIGHLY praised by the players, besides the complaints they were small. Devs didn't feel forced to rush a sex scene in any of them, we DO had progress with the girls and i can't remember no one complaint the flow of story by the time they were making small updates. And if anyone play the game rigth now, with those 3 small chapters together, the flow of the story keep working out. So anyone who skipped these updates, when finally played it with the 3 chapters together won't feel any problems with the flow and will have played more content in a row.

So no, i don't see any of these supposed issues with small updates that you're pointing out in the small updates that SH devs made. Just like i also don't picture these issues arising if they'd kept the bi-monthly releases. In fact, they proved with the first 3 chapters they are able to provide very quality updates in regular time. The only downside is they were small, something easyly solved if people followed the advice they are given now to whom complaint about the long time this current update is taken: be patient, wait for the devs release some more content and then played it all together in a row. But instead, they overhelmed devs with complaints about the updates sizes in the surveys they made after every update (Correction to your wrong information: there was never a poll to decide about the updates, you can even check their patreon to see that) until they finally decide change their original vision and thanks to that, here we are. Good riddance.

There was no sexy content at all in the first 3 updates. The closest thing we had was walking in on Mia while she was changing, and the one or two renders of Bree locked in the bathroom where it is hinted that she's gonna use her comb to... caress herself.
Those were the very first hours in the house, so of course no dev in their right mind would think about rushing a sex scene there. If the tiny updates had gone on, I'm convinced something along those lines would have happened sooner or later, probably before they hit the 1-year mark: every tiny update with its own sex scene, whether or not it was warranted.
And the same regarding plot progression. What happens in those 3 updates put together? Plotwise, barely nothing, and they were the result of X months of development for the first release plus the 4/5 months of the next two. That would not have been sustainable in the short run. IMHO, it's barely sustainable now, when the first day is going to end after over 1.5 years of development.

About the poll, I stand corrected. I thought I had read here back in the day that they eventually posted a poll after receiving a number of complaints or suggestions. OK, so the people who didn't vote but said that bigger updates would be better were positively not thinking that the game would move from 1 update every other month to 1 update every year.

The most important point I want to make here is that people who argued for bigger updates were not that retarded, and people who wanted to stick to shorter updates were not such geniuses. It feels like some people always come here to ridicule those people who weren't happy with the tiny updates with a good ole "I told ya!"
I'm not happy about the outrageously long time myself, and if I need to be brutally honest I think it's been a total blunder from the devs. That being said, the devs have acknowledged their mistake multiple times and expressed their determination to change their approach to something more reasonable. I will wait for the update, play it, assess if it was worth the time invested in it and then hope the dev's will indeed stick to a new more sensible planning.
The second chapter of Race Of Life was just released after A WHOLE YEAR. It has over 4,000 renders, a crazy number of animations, a bunch of sex scenes, and everyone who's already played it is saying it's the bomb. If it had been released as two different updates they'd still have been massive and satisfying, and the dev's already said that they'd be doing things differently from now on. I'm expecting something similar with SH.

I want the game to be around also, but I have no problem with people complaining. Dev cycles for almost all games on this site are getting significantly longer, and yearly releases are just ridiculous.
I thought about it, I'm not a developer, so I can't really say what I'd do. The supporters asked for longer updates, this update is as big as all the other previous so that explains why it's taken twice as long to get a release date.

Honestly, I thought the most recent update was pretty good.

Race of Life update is not that long tbh. It has 3 distinct branch of an event, and i guess that's what's padded the 4000 render numbers.
Animations (of the racing) is great sure, but i honestly would rather if it takes at most 6 months still.

and have to play as soon as it's on here and then I want more when it's over so soon lol

Same tho the another problem for me on top of what you said im tempted to replay alot of AVN's after checking out an update just so I can enjoy it longer especially if it's one of my favorites. But I got a backlog of AVN's I want to get around to checking out + a backlog of normal games ive been neglecting for the last 3 or so months haha. So not really a good idea to replay them yet I want to haha all a me problem tho.

I hope Mia rips out your spine and wears it as a friendship necklace...and the game doesn't end there, just continues from her POV as she systematically unalives all people that could have influenced that decision. :cautious: :Kappa:
Now that would be a fun AVN.....but you can say kills...it's not a bad word....

If it's a FRIENDSHIP bracelet, isn't it supposed to represent FRIENDSHIP?
I mean, that's what I would wear if I wanted to friendzone her. What if not wearing it gives her a hint that you wanna fuck her? :HideThePain:
Not wearing it gives her a hint that mc forgot about her and about frendship with her:unsure:
No friendship with mc gives her reason to make horror tag possible in game:KEK:
No friendship = Yandere mode activated:HideThePain:
