No teacher I have ever met in my life would ever say a few to mean two, especially when meaning a definitive set amount of time. Now fair enough, summer camp, but even those must have qualifications to teach, though it is set in the States, so...does anything else more really need saying?

I think the devs don´t deserve all the accusations people are writting here. I understand the dissapointment with the update, with more reasons if you are a Patreon, but i really don´t see them as a diabolical monster, come on.
For now they have been self critical, they have listened all the complains and they want to change, that´s good, of course we will see with the time how that goes but for now they can´t do anything more. By the way, very nice of them to offer refunds, this is something that i have only seen in other dev when the update doesn´t go well.
The toaster thing... Sorry but i like it, yeah, they could have put that effort in some other renders with the girls but i think this is the type of details a game needs, of course a game needs both things, i´m not saying that they should spend all their resources in toaster animations but if they can have good amount of content+good animations like the toaster i´m in... Even if i have to wait more... But that´s just my opinion.
I thought in the first chapter in get myself a Patrion membership but i decided to wait a little more, i did the right decision i think but i would like to subscribe in a future if they achieve what they have said, or at least give them a tip and then cancel my subscription, this is somethings i usually do when i like a game but i don´t want to pay every month.

10 months for garbage update. Positive review are from new comers that just started the game. people that waited from .5 to .6 majority of the disappointment is warranted.

Hello, everyone!
Quick warning: this post may be longer than 0.6. It also contains spoilers.
It's time for some post-update thoughts and we'd like to preface this post by saying that yes, it seems like we fucked up with 0.6 in several ways. The biggest issue is the size of the update, and specifically how short the playtime ended up being. Coming from the light indoor sets of 0.5 to the heavy outdoor sets of 0.6, the render counts are also vastly different.
This update was very Mia heavy to begin with and the content is divided even further by branching on top of that. Don't like Bree, Sophie or Mia? Well, now you're going to play through 0.6 as fast as someone holding down the skip button just to get to the sex scenes. Which brings us to the next topic...
The sex content—or lack thereof. The previous two updates both had full sex scenes, and 0.6 now sticks out like a sore thumb with its milder scenes. Understandably, the intimate scene with Mia in the morning also felt quite repetitive after 0.5 ended with another Mia scene. It almost feels like a moment from a game called Game Dev Tycoon... there, the game chastises you for releasing two similar games (or in this case, sex scenes) too close together. And we'd have to agree, it doesn't seem to go over very well.
That's on us. The day content wasn't planned to have much lewd or sexual content. The scenes in 0.6 weren't meant to escalate into something sexual, but rather to offer more depth to the characters and their backstories. But many people were expecting something more.
Your expectations regarding updates is something we wanted to learn through this update's feedback survey. We're quite shocked to say, but in the first 48 hours of the survey being up, we received over 500 survey responses. That's more responses than we had for the entire duration of the 0.5 feedback survey—and it's still growing.
That's a lot of responses. Thank you.
One thing we learned from this survey is that the audience is very split when it comes to expectations regarding content. We won't change our vision for the game but we will work on the pacing to get to the scenes that matter faster, and find that balance that works for most.
We'll go over a couple of the most common topics covered in your survey responses, but first we'd like to list some of the changes we're planning to implement in 0.7.
Planned changes
- Tighten the render count in less important scenes; focus on scenes that matter.
- Move time along. We've been quite fond of "stopping to smell the roses" while little time passes in-game, but we've also started skipping more. Going forward, we will also be passing more time off screen.
- Animations will be going back to 30fps.
- Give the main character a new haircut. We were already planning on doing this. Although it may be hard to tell, his current hair has both a wet and a dry version so he hasn't been walking around with wet hair, just messy.
- Give proper endings to the updates and don't end as abruptly as 0.6.
- Give better overviews of the updates to set proper expectations.
- If something goes wrong during development, talk about it. More transparency.
- Less polishing.
Now let's move on to a couple of the frequently mentioned topics...
Abandoning Summer Heat
There was a lot of concern in the survey that Summer Heat might be abandoned, especially following the critique of 0.6 and how it might affect our motivation to keep developing. We won't lie to you, it does hurt. It's never fun to let people down, as a creator or otherwise.
But we're far more concerned with how you feel about the game and its updates. That's why we'd like to offer refunds to anyone who was disappointed by the update. Just shoot us a DM here on Patreon. We don't want you to feel disappointed and this is the best we can do in the short term.
Summer Heat will not be abandoned. And if there was ever a sign of it, we'd let you know.
The toaster
The attention the toaster has been receiving in the surveys is surprising. Two frames of doom. We didn't count it as an animation or even think much of it since it was just a little test, but it certainly left an impression on many. Good and bad. But the toaster has taught us a lot, and with these findings we fully intend to utilize this transition with characters to see what else we can do.
Status updates
How much do you want to know about upcoming updates? Do you want to know which girls the scenes are with, what the scenes are about, and how much playtime you can expect? How much info is too much info?
We are adjusting our approach to status updates in 0.7 and our focus will be on transparency. We'll be reporting render numbers and relevant information that can be easier to track than a simple overall percentage.

Other news
The special render for August will feature Eve and be posted this weekend. After the reception of 0.6 we are considering pausing the monthly specials for a while to put that time into making content for 0.7 instead.

As someone else said, the main hurting point I think was the time it took to finally release the update with how little it had. The communication wasn't as transparent so people built it up in their head that it was going to be a banger of an update when in reality it was an anime filler episode where the only lewd content was a remix of the prior update.
Branching has always been an issue with AVN. If you aren't on someones path then an update can take longer to download than play it sometimes.

Bitchers and whiners. I seriously think some people here get off more by complaining and shitting on devs than they do the actual porn games. And for notable VNs with the quality of Summer Heat, it's just a bigger target for them. Despite the hostility, the devs specifically addressed most of the complaints with professionalism and grace, but some people here still intend to be bitter little shits about it by insulting the devs and worse... the patrons who support this VN. So they have to continue derailing the thread with this stupid ongoing tantrum about the update.
Get over it and grow the fuck up people. It's beyond ridiculous and pathetic.

Was it Sophie who serves as another good example of the sort of animation I wasn't fond of in this update? There was a girl who turned up at the top of the stairs as Kate was taking MC away for "The Talk", I think it was. Instead of just a static render or two showing who was there, we got a pan and zoom up the stairs to show her off. Similar animations were used a couple of times for other girls at various points as well, and I just feel that they look good in a well-rounded game, but when they're part of an update that disappoints, it makes it look like too much attention was focused in the wrong place.
Editing because you posted as I was typing and the timing looks comical given our respective comments. Just to clarify in case it's needed though, I'm not shitting on the devs, and have posted about my support for them, especially after their recent post. I feel people are still entitled to post about the updat though, what else are they to do, only talk about the game now in terms of the whole thing, even if they've just played the most recent part? The disappointment will roll away eventually, but there's no problem in giving a bit of time for it to happen.

The developers were criticized very harshly and as a result the monthly special is Eve in panties, the system works!.
My faith is completely recovered and version 0.7 will be the best ever!, maybe I exaggerated a little, sorry, but I want to believe that now the developers understood for the first time that because of the years of development, people expect more action with the protagonists regardless of the time of day.

Respectful criticisms about the update is one thing. Complaining about the developers, calling devs "milkers", or insulting patrons is another.
The former is on topic and valid especially when solicited by the developers themselves. The latter is a toxic, off topic derailment and classic bully behavior. People are entitled to their opinion about the game itself but not to the point of excessive complaining about the people behind the VN or the time it takes to develop it... and it's way beyond excessive at this point.

I wasn't following any communication, I just checked this forum every now and then, so there was nothing to build my expectations. I expected 0.6 to be smaller than 0.5 (which was massive considering general update size) but not this small.
Speaking of branching, players who are on Kate/Eve solo path got breakfast, nap, forest walk and building exploration. I can completely understand their disappointment.
With branching you should provide something for each of the branches.
Now imagine these options:
- If you are on Sophie's/Mia's path, you would go with them, no change here.
- If you are on Bree's path, Kate would pair you with Bree so you two can finally have "some time alone".
- If you are on Eve's path, Kate would pair you with Eve and you would run into the jogger again. The jogger would taunt/annoy Eve about MC being her "fake boyfriend" because "no one would ever love her". Eve, maybe desperate, maybe to hide her tears, grabs MC and starts making out with him. Disgusted (or maybe shocked), the jogger leaves (but not before taking some pictures). Eve then opens a up a bit and talks about her life. And when you are with her in the abandoned building, things might get even spicier.
- If you are on Kate's path, she will pair up with you to"find some inspiration together". And she can even justify it: "MC, I see you are left alone. You are with me, I'm NOT letting you go on your own especially after what happened yesterday." Kate would try to be professional, but to no avail and you two would end up kissing... Only to be interrupted by Miller calling Kate to return to the lodge. Kate leaves, but promises MC they will resume later. Mike will then text/call MC to move his ass to the abandoned building.
