What the fuck is wrong with the MC? Seriously, not wanting to visit a crippled person because you don't know her and don't really want to is one thing, but coming to her hospital ward to crack moronic jokes and treat everyone around you like trash is fucking vile.
The lack of compassion is one of the key symptoms of a person being a fucking psychopath. Am I actually supposed to sympathize with this loony bin assclown?
Asking Maya if she has seen a chocolate shop somewhere in the hospital is no joke. Chocolate is love. Chocolate is life.

And it's not only the music that makes problems when the game get hardcore scenes. If Season 1 contains expicit content, the reach of the game will be limited.
I am ignorant in this whole aspect of why Ocean is choosing to make Season 1 a solid "all ages" story when he plans on making Season 2 anything but. I understand that some countries, Germany included, require certain content to be behind a rating wall. But why write a part of the story that is accessible by the masses and the remaining part of the story is restricted to adults only? That is highly counterintuitive. Just to save the music? That seems highly unlikely.

It isn't counterintuitive at all. It will reach a larger audience this way. Big net = more fish.

The music part is important as well. He has stated multiple times that he gets inspiration for scenes from songs and incorporates those into his game.

Marketing and artistic vision seem like enough for me not to question it.

That would be a false sense of a larger audience. A larger audience that can only view the first season, nothing beyond.

How is that? It will draw in people that aren't necessarily looking for an adult game. Additionally a portion of people that "can only view the first season" will find ways to bypass restrictions.

Because it IS an adult game. Season 1 is being billed as a Steam and rating-friendly game when the entirety of the game is actually an adult game with fully sexual scenes. Yes, there will be people who will find ways around the age restriction to view further seasons. But to rely on that as a means for drawing in the audience is pure ignorance. It will backfire. I would actually rather the reason simply be, "to avoid losing all the music from season 1." Although, in reality, it is likely that those contracts will be a problem when the entire game is still an adult game with sexually explicit scenes. It delays the problem, it does not resolve the problem.

My man, I don't know what you are so worked up about. I made a couple logical points about why a lewd, but not explicit first season would make sense and you're arguing like you're a professor trying to destroy my PhD Thesis. Are you trying to change Ocean's mind and have him sneak a bit of tip in before next Wednesday? What is the goal here?

My point is to discuss the game, the decisions the dev makes, and how it affects the viewers. Should we not discuss those things just because Ocean says it is so? Isn't that the point of a forum like this?

I think the point is to get people who have "frequent nudity or sexual content," and "adult only sexual content" blocked on Steam to look at the game. Some people have those games hidden on Steam even though they're not necessarily against playing them (I'm one of those people). Maybe it will pay off and he'll make more sales than he otherwise would have, or maybe it will annoy people who thought they were going to get a different type of story. Time will tell.

Agreed, time will tell. F95 users are far from being mainstream. But if we use them as our litmus paper test for how a crowd reacts to a game starting out as one thing, and then becoming an entirely different thing, I think we will find that model does not work.

After reading the Patreon posts, Discord discussions, and some of the more "in the know" posts here on this forum, it appears more likely that he is doing it to avoid finding and paying for all new music. There are so many great games that have gone down the path of getting screwed over by changes in music contracts. First, it is insane that the contract supports and protects the artists without any form of redress for the client. Second, as long as devs continue to patronize these services and/or are unable or unwilling to fight them, this kind of treatment will continue.

The delay, stress, and money it cost Drifty was tremendous. His story is quite typical of what devs face on this issue. Does anyone know if Ocean received a warning from the muscian's licensing company or Steam, or is he being preemptive because of what other devs have faced? In the end, it is better now than after releasing much more of the season. Still unfortunate that he is going through the whole thing.

Ocean for all his greatness in making and writing great female characters(for porn game standards at least) is terrible at creating male protagonists. In both his games the male protagonists look terrible and act like assholes although in this game it's dialed up to 11.
It's unfortunate but it is what it is, at least he toned it down quite a bit later on especially after he started remaking each chapter after he received blowback for creating a literal psychopath for a protagonist.
He was going for the emo, brooding MC thats too cool for school, but ended up giving us Dylan Kebold.

You might be interested in reading the author's words about the main character.

So yeah, while now the MC isn't the complete psycho he was in the original version of the game before the remake, and who some people in this thread miss so much, he's still a bit of a jerk. You can control and change his dark side to some extent, but you can't completely get rid of it. This is not a mistake or a bad writing, the character is well written and the author meant him to be exactly like this. Maybe because of these contradictions in his personality, this MC seems so interesting to many people in this thread.

I didn't get it, man, how he avoids finding and paying for new music if that's what he exactly was doing after he was forced to remove some old songs from the game?

Copyright is serious, even some songs that are free can not be used in games for adults.

Nah, I meant that's exactly what Ocean has been doing lately. He was looking for a new songs for his games and negotiating licensing matters with the rights holders so that he could constantly use the purchased licensed songs in the game, and they could not say later - we refuse to renew the rights to use our songs for you, because your game has become too much adult for us.

It's not only the bigger reach/net. If the game contains +18 content, Ocean could not access his own game from his german location 'cause of the stupid valve geoblock. Let's be honest to ourself, he want make money with his work - everyone will get paid for his work, anyone who tells something diffrent lies.

Getting his game to steam, even the all age Season 1, will skyrocket his income and build more safety for him. If Season 1 goes well for him - I personally hope it from the bottom of my heart - he can move to another country with one worry less.

No, no warning or something similiar.

I noticed the shitshow what happened to Drifty on his discord an redirected it instant through a DM on discord to Ocean. But Drifty was faster and informed Ocean the day before.

It was not only Drifty or Ocean that got screwd by Artlist (the license owner, and responsible for that clusterfuck), even Kent&Stoya from Chasing Sunsets where on the bucketlist of this assholes.

Actually this isn't exactly correct, he received a warning.

From the 28 Jun Dev Log:
"So, I got a lovely E-Mail around a week ago, where I was informed that Elijah Fords Management has changed, and they advised him to pull out all the music from previous deals.
"But Ocean, didn't you make a contract?"

Yes, but I was/am a poor bitch and couldn't afford to make a big one-time payment for each song, and instead paid them a monthly fee...
