I honestly don't see how this is a valid argument. "Well they're not THAT active and don't let us stalk their profile so that we can bring up their history. How are we supposed to reply to them without going Ad Hominem and attacking the person instead of addressing the points raised?"
I don’t know I just don't think it should matter. much. Sure stopping a discussion in its tracks by calling someone a troll is probably justified sometimes. But it does create a snowball effect.
Don't want to bother engaging someone? Call them a troll. Don't like their argument? "If you don't like the game, just leave, bro". And they'll call you an "Ocean dickrider" back, which then leads to insults being thrown across the room until there's no space for constructive criticism or admiration of the game. All you're left with are the Haters and the Cult of Ocean, because everyone got demonized. Middle ground is important.
I know I'm probably expecting too much from a adult game discussion thread on a porn website, but you can't pretend like there's some gold standard of constructive criticism and then turn around and disregard any made. That they're repeated over and over by new members isn't a valid excuse. Do better.

You know, some people start arguing just for the sake of arguing. They enjoy it. And there are those who throw tantrums to attract attention. For you, a discussion with such characters will end nasty, even if you adhere to these principles of yours.
And you don't have to call them trolls to become an Ocean's dickrider. Just tell them that you like the way the author writes his stories, or understand why there are delays in the updates. That will be enough.
I almost never used the facepalm reaction. It felt to me as some kind of virtual spitting on a person with whom you disagree. Therefore, at first I began to argue, explain or prove my point of view.
Well, I can only share my experience of it with you. You can't convince anyone of anything on the Internet. But I see exactly two outcomes of these discussions. In rare cases, you will come across an adequate person, you will agree to disagree, change the topic and start laughing together at some meme. But more often than not, your "opponent" will take a mouthful of shit and start spitting at you. I don’t judge anyone's tastes, but personally I don’t like the smell of such a discussion.
So I resorted to facepalming but only for a short period of time. Because I quickly discovered that there are people who collect facepalms. They will bait, provoke and insult you just to get attention. Angry responses are their goal, but facepalms will work too. And according to their logic, when they managed to anger you, drag you into a meaningless argument and get a response, they won.
Sorry bro, but I don't see any middle ground here. With all my due respect to the attention whoring kink, it's not my thing, so I don't want to be neither the receiving end nor the giving end of this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, having ended a day a couple of times in a bad mood after yet another "constructive discussion," I wondered why the hell I was even reading and responding to this. This became especially clear during the release days of the ch5 beta. The unspeakable shit that this thread turned into for a week was simply disgusting to get close.
I completely agree with this one guy who said that even just scrolling through this toxic crap is dangerous for your subconscious mind. At the best, you will be in a bad mood without even understanding where it came from. Don't let strangers on the Internet ruin your mood.
So my advice is: don't look for a middle ground when someone annoys you, just hit the ignore button and move on.
Inb4: For those guys who's gonna say, "good advice, it’s you who write all sorts of annoying crap, so perhaps we’ll use this advice on you and put you on ignore." I'm with you guys wholeheartedly! Most likely our feelings are mutual and this will serve right to the both sides.

This isn't about ignoring alternate opinions or dismissing people. There's plenty of people posting here who have some level of saltiness or cynicsm that are articulate, logical and clear in their position without being trolls, many of which still like the game enough.
But trolls do exist.
I expect that when CH 5 Final is released, we will get another round of hating by the usual suspects (and their alternate ids).
I have no problem with putting new or relatively old ids with little to no activity on ignore when they act like trolls right out of the gate.
I am always up for a good discussion, but I will not let haters live in my head rent free.
I enjoy Summers Gone and I am unrepentant in this.
Ocean is not perfect, but the man has vision and Summers Gone is good enough that I have replayed more of this AVN than I have replayed any other AVN I've found.
As I write this, I realize that I am humming one of the songs from SG - what can I say?

It's because The Dude keeps on reworking what doesn't need to be reworked.
He needs to realise that when something is "good enough", it's good enough. And since his projects are semiprofessional solo efforts, GOOD ENOUGH IS PLENTY. IT'S MORE THAN ENOUGH.

I personally greatly enjoyed this VN that contains probably the hottest looking female NPCs I've seen in a VN (with Bella the hottest), but it leaves me with a few burning questions:
1. dafuq was Bella doing with a dog dick dildo and dog biscuits?! Like Mordin once said: implications are troubling! Does a romance run with a different character answer this question? Was it a gag for someone? Cause her aunt accused her of being a prude like her mother, so buying something like that for personal use seems very out of character.
2. are Bella and MC long-lost siblings? I mean, they have same eyes (shape and colour), there were many times emphasized how alike they are, plus Bella's father has obviously left her mother (so, could've cheated on MC's mother, knocked up Amber, then returned to MC's mother and died together with her)
3. is there any official info on next update?
4. which is better: lewdpatcher or decensor mod?

It's up to The Dude to decide whether something in the game does need to be reworked or not. Not you, not me, not the Censorship Council of SG Thread, not anti-ntr inquisition...
If his creative juices aren't flowing while the old chapters 1 and 2 are still there, then rework is these chapters' destiny, whether you like it or not. Because it's his creation and vision.
And I'd rather endure another rework than one day find another favorite game abandoned because its dev lost his mojo.
So far he hasn’t disappointed me too much, because I’ve probably seen, I guess a half hundred games in a similar setting (college, youngsters and their mishaps, stupid teenage tragedies) and only this one hooked me unconditionally and didn't let me off the hook so far. And frankly the old chapters look like a pimple on ass compared to the new ones.
As for development time... Judging by the posts here, every other one in this thread knows better how to make such a game faster, better and more successful. So what's the deal? Go ahead and do it!
Some of you complained so much that Ocean was constantly milking you and giving you nothing in return. Find a better use for your money!
Make your own damn project. Hire artists, writers, programmers - give them tasks you can't do yourself, let them work under your leadership, if you know how to do it better than this dev.
And while some of you will be busy managing this brilliant Summer's Gone 2.0 Community Edition, for the rest of us, I suggest to return to the good old Sasha is Summer.
