I don't think there is anything strange about a college bar having a pole for dancing.

When I was in college, one of the bars had 3 poles on an elevated dance floor (about 1/4 of the total dance floor) and lady's nights, where the women got in without a cover.

The boldest women danced on the elevated section of the dance floor, using the pole for support if they were not too drunk (and sometimes when they were...) and the guys bought them drinks.

I know from friends who were bartenders that those nights were some of the best for profits for that bar.

Skin to win was often the theme for any 'dance' contests and it was a great time to cut loose.

I can imagine Ocean doing a cinematic with one of the first team women using the pole to show off her moves, all to a rocking soundtrack (maybe not as good as but then this song is iconic for college bars and strip clubs ).

I think the opening night for the bar could be a great scene, especially if there are different variations depending on the LI path the MC is on.

Cheers!! :coffee:
To be honest the idea of a college bar is an alien one to me. In my little corner of the world colleges has hospital, museum, sometimes theaters and show houses but never bar -or gym-. There are bar where colleges studants goes but those are not related to the college, as it seens is the case in SG.

Either is normal or not is secondary, it takes place in a fictic world anyway, but everyone has their own references what is normal. When Nika's decides that he will go for a walk late at night I think, this is a good way of get yourself killed, but I know that is a comom thing in Germany. Same way the pole dance in a college bar, for me is a foregin idea, a bit out of place and because of that, a funny one.

Since the music is a topic now and then and the bar with the dance poles a song Ocean will not get licensed but is fitting in it´s own way is the old Sailor song "Girls, Girls, Girls"

And a total opposite of Nika at the moment is the hero of the legendary spoof song "Schmidtchen Schleicher", a very special kind of playboy, with his elastic legs and dangerously cushioning knees:LOL:;)

I'm very curious about her story myself, as she seems quite central to things socially (connected to everyone almost, people gossiping about her, her sending people like Dwight or Robin to do things etc), but act like 100% introvert, quite shy and insecure in a way, while still being very strong as a character.

Vic being desperate - reject her every single time and see what she's like. She won't take no well. Although she seems open to sharing, I suspect she's rationalising to accomodate her fears of being alone. It's like when you leave after Maja gets you to come around, Vic is in tears because she is afraid she didn't make the connection with Nika, or something. She has also put him on a pedestal, fixated on him, maybe because he was there in the moment and she thinks he prevented her from being killed? She sees him as something extraordinary, and he's a link to how she was before the accident? Something is there.

The other relationship is the Benz's - we see Nadia and Zara get along, Zara talks with goth/pizza girl, but Zara seems quite separate from the others, but also fairly self sufficient. My guess is we'll start seeing more of the interactions through AUrora on the phone, and that will give us clearer indications of the way characters socialise. What would be great is if Ocean develops a bio that looks like a contact card in the phone, so we can keep track of the characters relations. Most games with large casts seem to do something similar.

I kinda feel that's pretty normal for her, it's not a raised eyebrows look, she appears to be staring straight ahead, slightly down at the bar in front of her not twisted left to look over at Nika and Ayua - look at her boddy in the following screens:

First shot we see, Robin has turned her body to greet them where they're standing at their table, Sasha's looking at the bar, this is before your screen shot. She doesn't appear to really move. We can clearly see Robin is turn to face them and Sasha isn't. In the screen shot you've posted, Sasha is looking straight.

View attachment 3980994 View attachment 3981003

She turns to Dwight on her left to get him to act as Ayua's on personal bouncer (because he's not paying any attention to Ayua making a mess of herself, even though Layla's worried from the bar), then looks back at where Ayua's making a mess of herself, we can see her turned to look.

By the way, anyone notice the pole behind for dancing?
You know, way back, when you told me that was dwight, I thought you were joking lol. Besides having a different model, his mannerism is completely different lol. Also, I don't recall Nika greeting Robin at the bar.

Is it new improved Dwight that comes to school with Sasha? I think the intents clear, just lik Ayua has two different faces, and Mila has three different models. You know Ch4 renders are someone the oldest left in the game right? These only a couple left of the original chapter 3 at this point that are older. The only thing really noticeably different is the detail of the stubble, the lighting and the way the lighting affects his eyes. Big flat lighting in the old render, soft diffuse lighting enhancing all the angles of that chiselled jaw. The lighting in the Ch4 basketball scene is a lot worse that later renders. (it's still great, Ocean's just come in leaps and bounds since then). You also have to imagine Dwight with a serious face. IN the basket ball game, he's smiling almost the whole time, and the glasses seem like part of him (same for the early chapter 1 render he's in the background). Same hairstyle, same jaw, same stubble.

Later Trey is the same model, but the lighting makes all the angles stand out, and makes him look a bit older, like it does with Robin.

The lighting also tends to put multiple reflections in people eyes now, which makes their eyes look different to before. I imagine before, Ocean didn't use as many light sources to keep the rendering easy, now, he's got card where he can add more lighting the way he wants. The oldest renders were done on much cheaper cards, with a lot more constraints. From here, I think we'll settle down regards that sort of thing, Ocean's more likely to multiply the rigs to he can churn through renders faster. Well, I hope that's his plan.:HideThePain:

Did you look at the difference in Robin and Trey? Same level of difference. My vibe is the original in Ch4 looks like a cliche GI Joke action figure, the version in the bar looks capable of talking about things other than finger raping guys and wearing cute little bows.

I guess we'll disagree on that, and wait to find out in season 2.

Any theories on why Sasha would look kind of surprised upon hearing Ayua saying that Nika will marry her?

View attachment 3980954 View attachment 3980956 View attachment 3980957 View attachment 3980958
Personal theory based on currently available info:

Sasha is surprised because Ayua is Nika´s halfsister. While Ayua is just messing around, drunk and only half serious, Sasha seems sober and considering she is the Petrova heir, she might know quite a bit about the skeletons in the cellar of the 3 families.

I think Nami and Nika are the kids of Daphne, with Willi the spermdonor. We know that Willi, Miru and Daphne have a rather strange friendship and currently Miru would never let Willi get together with Daphne. But I think a Miru on the open relationship/porn producing path in Wiab might come to accept Willi being the spermdonor for Daphne (it was hinted at in Wiab), but nothing more.
This would also explain why Nami and Nika ended up with Nojiko. While Miru might come around to accept Willi giving his sperm for Daphne´s children (there might be an event coming which makes it easier for Miru), she would not agree to have them in the household and raising them.

As for who got pregnant by Willi over time, my estimation is as follows. We know that there was a definite reconciliation of Willi with Leia/Kati and Miru forming at least some kind of bond with them. That is rather clear be circumstancial evidence. Ayua´s personal style is strongly influenced by "Auntie Leia" and Ayua mentions her cousins, this would not happen without them being close. Going by what we know from Wiab, such a closeness would not exist without them developing a modus vivendi. And then it is a certainty that Willi is the Dad of not all, but at least 1 or 2 of Leia´s kids. Miru wanted 4 and we know that Ayua has siblings, also it is probable in this situation that he has a kid with Kati.

As for the other girls, I think it is probable/optional as a spermdonor for Monika (if on the reconciliation path with her), one of the Revera girls back then (Aziz could be his son), Zoey and Daphne. Also an option for Gina, since her boyfriend/husband wants to be cucked.

Additionally, here with the same lighting, the old Sasha and Robin models are identical to the new models.

I suspect in that case, Ocean loaded the scene and just replaced Mila's model, (and Robin's skin) but the new scenes he was having too much fun with his new cards. And the Robin in the bar isn't necessarily a different model, might just be a poor choice of makeup for purple lighting, making her look like she's got a weird shiny tan thing. Even Damian looks different/older, and I'm sure Ocean didn't spend time making new models for him, it's just the lighting.

Yo,

The log is a little late because my sleep schedule is so weird that Wednesday didn't really exist for me... It's... complicated.

1. Blender's Workout plan.

My mind's constantly racing between different software and possible ideas.

During cardio I often think about the games and thingies I could try out.

For example I observe the motion of the treadmill and wonder how hard it would be to replicate in Blender... And then let Zara run on it... How would I handle the air resistance? The friction of her shoes on the rubber...

Then, I had a day where I was reading in bed and the sun was shinning into my room... When the light hits just right, I often observe it and wonder... Why can't I replicate it like this? Do the light bounces work so differently from Iray (Daz) or Blender (Cycles)?

Is the key "indirect" lighting?

...I had to get up and do some testing.

First, I checked how Blender calculates the light bounces... In Blender you can change how often the light bounces around a scene. I created a little room with a window in it and did my tests by having light shine in and see how it illuminates the room at what values...

Then I ported the room to Daz and did the same—and Daz handled it much worse. In Daz, you often have the issue that the light from outside doesn't illuminate the room at all. You need artificial lighting. And there lays the challenge of good renders. It's hard to get right.

The way the light bounces around the room in Daz seems much worse than in Blender. In Blender, I could illuminate the room with a light value of 4833 lumens.

In Daz, I needed over 65000 lumens to replicate the size of the mesh light. It looked much worse in Daz. I documented the process and will go into more detail in the Blender log.

I opened Blender again, opened Miru, who was waiting for me to do some boob physics tests and started lighting her with a singular, indirect light.
View attachment 3956145

This was in a very big room, and the light was positioned on the opposite side, facing the wall.

The HDRI (World) was turned off, and the scene had no lighting besides that one mesh light (and, technically, her headphones).

This gives me a lot of ideas on how to light scenes in the future... But I will also do some more tests soon in Daz... While writing this, I got an idea that I have to try out.

Ennnnoooough... Before I start writing an entire Blender log... Let me get to the end of the Blender part.

Yesterday, however, I came up with a new way to improve my Blender/Marvelous Designer skills.
Usually, I do what I always do: follow my instincts and learn as I go. This worked out for Daz, but Blender combined with Marvelous has so many areas to cover that I needed a better system.

So, I created a workout plan for Blender. It's built exactly like a gym workout plan, with a few additions.

Instead of a Chest/Shoulder day, you have an Animation/Constraint day.

I came up with a few ideas to make it more fun... Geometry Chaos & (Star)Light) are just some of the little events I created that will help me understand everything better.

Or the "Hyptertrophy" 3x10 Blender workout.

For each set (1x10) you create one new render with Girl X, and then make 10 different versions out of it. I change the lighting, the camera angle and so on...

I have come up with 11 challenging events to make it more fun... And I will go into them with the first Blender log... Which will be a fucking Titan of a log.

There's also some good news about Marvelous Designer, but I will include all of this in the Blender Log.

2. Who wore it better - Winner: Elsa

Elsa dominated the last Who Wore It Better poll, so I have created six renders and two extra variations of her in and out of the outfit.
View attachment 3956149

You can find the rest of the renders HERE

3. Season 2 - Chapter 1

I've added an additional big scene to the update. It was supposed to be in S2-CH2, but I thought it would do pretty well in Chapter 1.

The past weeks have been highly productive, with the occasional hiccup from having a circadian rhythm that would leave scientists speechless.

One new element that's going to be introduced in Season 2 are "dynamic outfits".

Sometimes, earlier choices determine what a character wears to a particular event.

In this preview example, we have Mila.

Variation 1
View attachment 3956146

Variation 2
View attachment 3956143

If there's outfit variation, you can almost always expect two additional character scenes, too.

I think you can imagine what direction both scenes could go... Especially outfit 2.

I have some pretty awesome potential previews, but as promised, I'm limiting myself with what I show now.

So, this little Zara & MC image has to do.
View attachment 3956140
Chapter 1 will be very generous to Zara fans.

As the number of renders grows, my "fear" of the postwork increases exponentially, and I will have to start thinking about all the coding I must do.

I will have to code the new UIs, the phone, the galleries, etc...

But until then, I'll still have a lot of rendering to do.

I'll see you in two weeks.

Ocean
So many words and so much meaning. This guy has a lot of pathos, but he is completely incompetent when it comes to the professional 3D program that is Blender.
Blender is a great program, but it's not the toy he thinks it is and to work in it you need a systematic approach, not Ocean's “I'll only learn lighting” approach.
Ocean's approach is to work on instinct, it's a trait of almost all developers on this site, but it doesn't work with Blender, Zbrush and other programs.
You can't just take clothes from MD, put them on a character and make an animation, it won't work. You'd have to do retopology, and for retopology you have to understand topology. Not to mention that Blender has a separate section dedicated to geonodes, which allows you to do amazing simulations and effects.
So, if Ocean really wants to learn Blender and work in it, it's going to take time, and that means once-a-year updates are definitely not going to happen.
I'm actually very skeptical and negative about switching from DAZ to Blender, it doesn't make any sense. If Ocean decided to switch just because Blender has more cinematic lighting options, then he didn't know how to work with lighting even in DAZ itself.
Blender isn't perfect and it won't be able to pull off big scenes just like DAZ couldn't. To be successful in Blender, you first need to learn how to optimize scenes, understand where you can save polygons and where you can't.

I just finished Summer's Gone and the impression is pretty good. The lack of sex scenes is a little unusual for this type of entertainment, but I guess the second season will spice up this VN a bit. Someone asked me earlier who was my favorite, but since I just started playing the game I answered Summer. Now that I'm done I can say that there are at least half a dozen girls in the game and you can't go wrong choosing any of them. In my case, without a doubt, it would be Bella. However, if it turned out (2nd season) not to be such a good decision in the long run for one or more reasons, I don't think I would really be interested in continuing all that. Nami, which is one of the aforementioned good choices, certainly has a lot of fans here. However, I am not one of them and I can say that she was very often very irritating. It is very obvious that she is in love with the MC. And I'm pretty sure that when MC and Summer were in a relationship, she wished for Summer to leave more than once. Which eventually came true. However, sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for, because in the end not everything turns out exactly as you imagined. To put it mildly, the MC in particular did not take it very well.
I would add a few more details that caught my eye. I don't think any of the blondes in the game are natural. To be exact, there are at least ten blondes which are actually non-blondes. While playing, one song playing in the background seemed familiar to me, as if I had heard it before. The musician is Grace Mesa and then I discovered that he is the musician who made the song for Being A DIK as well. In the end, the songs are not the same, but I like them both. And finally Robin. She is definitively my second choice despite her weird mother, but I'm not sure she will have significant role in the future :( Robin's hairstyle is a hairstyle I've been looking for a long time. Luckily someone shared it on the Summer's Gone fan art thread.

The university I went to and at least two others in my city have bars on campus. We even persuaded one lecturer to hold the lectures in the beer garden, that was 25 years ago. Only difference is now no lecturer would risk the public liability to hald the lecture in the bar :sneaky:
