I know, most of the stuff mentioned is in the mod for the game(i have the game with and without the mod). I meant i want to play it before all the asset updates, I want to see the original direction of the game before the credit card company's castrated patreon and before Ocean made it less edgy. I lurk a bit and see mentions of this used to be like that or that used to be like this and would like to experience it myself.I played blind then did a run using the guide and there's mention of firing a gun. What gun? I want to shoot the gun!
All I'm saying is I'd like to experience the old version of the first few chapters and it would be convenient and appreciated if a link was on the first page like how WIAB has a link to its old version.
I understand the reasoning. I've kept a version of 2 and 4.5 for this reason. Fell of the other stages had anything dramatic changed. Ch2 givs you all the old school vibe, with all the cringe. Interestingly, it had a flow despite the lack of subtlety - when Nika and Nami swear or get angry, it actually feels volatile. Same with Bella's breakdown. Some of those things were released in Ch4 or 4.5, can't remember, but I think it was 4. Basically when Mila in Ch 1 became massive was when the early chapters became 'smoothed'. I can see some value in the way it was before, but it came with liberal dosing of cringe sauce.
That early rework made sure the start didn't look embarrassing compared to the later parts, but it did lose a sense of immediacy? Volatility? Something like that. Someone who hasn't played wouldn't notice it missing.
Ch5 Beta was where most of the 'lewd' moments were cut - which basically censoring the jacuzzi scene, removing flaccid cocks, and clothed facesitting. Season 1 had more cuts for things that didn't make sense, until you consider Ocean was trying to get the percentage of 'adult' material down enough not to screw him with the music. As it was, a significant number of cinematics are gone, purely because of the music issue. So I'm personally glad Ocean just decided to cut what he did rather than embark on another rework to find new mix that fitted etc.
The only reason I mentioned it's impossible, is because it was a progressive rework. Stuff in the chapter 3 release is changed in Ch 4.5, then in 5 beta changed again, then in 5 full we have a committed version. Trying to decide what is the original pre rework version requires playing three different versions at least. It's not just renders swapped out, whole scenes are different in some cases. My personal favourite addition to the rework was the chat you have with Nami if you don't go on the heist. Anyway, I'm more warning you that you have to find multiple early versions because there are changes everywhere in each release since 2 that someone somewhere is sad to have lost. The mod might restore some content, but it can't easily make it fit the new script - the uncut mod is selective by nature, as there have been too many significant changes. WiaB is a different story. You can clearly see where OCean finally understood his rendering aesthetic in Ch6, but then we have three different hairstyles for William. It got messy, and then after starting that process of SG of fixing it while devloping further, he did use some wisdom in starting over and scrapping his early work. The releases of WiaB are far more consistent development wise that SG, because Ocean didn't have to stitch renders into the middle of the story and hope it wouldn't be noticeable.
