VN Ren'Py Summer's Gone [S1 Steam + DLC] [Oceanlab]

A lot of dialogues that don't really contribute to the main plot or character development and could've been trimmed. Doing this would have let us have the Mila date or the next session with Amber or spending time with Victoria and Mila. The other girls except Bella could all do with more character development and screentime tbh, at this point Bella is so superior to the rest it's not even close but that's also because we spend so much time with her compared to the rest.



Having said that, the songs in this latest update were amazing, I just feel some stuff that don't feel as important here could have been trimmed to add stuff more relevant to the main plot.

I, myself do refer to this update as a "Bridge update". It'll connect well with Chapter 4.


But I can assure you that most of what happened did contribute to the plot.
You're just unable to connect all the dots now. Give it some time.

An example of this would be "the next session with Amber."
Even though it might not seem like it, this update had a lot of fuel for the next therapy session. (Not counting the obvious kiss.)

And the dates will never be a priority on their own. The relationships develop along the line of the plot.
As others have mentioned, that's why there will never be content evenly divided between the girls.

What I want to achieve is a natural flow of story and dating. I regret giving the option to ask Mila and Vic out for a date. This could've been handled better, but it is how it is.

I want things to happen "naturally" without any feeling of a "Helping hand" (The dev) that suddenly gives you the option to ask someone out.

People bond over events and challenges. They get to know each other in a very natural way and eventually form a friendship or even more.
(Like Bella and MC start bonding by creating stupid plans.)

I guess this is an unpopular opinion in this thread lol.

Never be afraid of stating an unpopular opinion.
Just like a writer shouldn't be afraid of offending people. (Like the ending of Ch 3.5.)

WiAB PC got a 3090 a week ago and is now in full production again. (I couldn't render the scenes with 2x2080Ti's due to the Vram limit.)

There will be a big dev log soon.

Sonya and Sasha being dev favourites could mean they show up charging into the main plot like a wrecking ball at any moment. I feel like Sasha might be a fair ways off since she gives off a feeling of being deeply involved with the main plotline involving MC.

While I do love Sasha and Sonya.
I wouldn't sacrifice the logic of the story just to give them an entrance.
As mentioned above, the relationships develop along the plotline to give it the most natural progression.

My poor Sasha has to wait for her turn.

By the way, I assume Sonya is in a sort of itchy foreshadowing. I think Ocean wants to give her the " momentum " for a long time, and she might be the character the chapter is focused on during the next episode, which must includes the game session tbh.

Or maybe it's Sasha who will take the leading part ?

bella's temporary absence is during the weekend so...why would the mc meet up with those 2 during the weekend?

Though I do believe Robin will probably untie the mc so maybe they'll set something up before weekend starts, it's a possibility.
Sasha on the other hand I just don't see it, if you read ocean's comment from above he even states sasha has to wait her turn, nothing indicates any progression with her in the near future.

I don't get the point of you stating this. Are you saying schedules & dates don't matter in this storyline? I think you're underestimating this dev if that is so.

I really like this game so far, my only wish is that it doesn't follow the same tired Mutual Masturbation->HJ->BJ->69->Sex pattern every other game uses. I dream of the day a dev writes a story where the sex is realistic. Unless you're 15 you aren't going through all the awkward sexual phases with a girl.

Since one of the key decisions is to break into whatever his name house with Bella or stay with Nami I think there will be no such thing as Nami + Bella triangle (or it will be hell of a relationship ). This choice generates so many important variables so it cannot be ignored.

I agree with you that a Nami/Bella throuple is unlikely, I think it's actually going to be quite possible to romance Bella without commiting a B&E grand larceny with her. Your numbers with her are much higher with her if you do the crime, but even if you choose to stand her up, you can make up a lot of relationship points and get her love points into the positive on their date.

EDIT: So just saw reference to the Dev suggesting Nami/Bella is still on the table... Color me gobsmacked and intrigued...

Reviewing the comments I don't honestly know the history of this dev with VN's, but I can say this if he continues like this he'll have the top spot for VN's in my personal opinion (my personal opinion). I have both beta (finished that) and the full version installed on my phone and playing both side by side for comparison. If the updates in chapter 1 were this good and he states all updates for chapter 1 should be finished by chapter 5 I'm really tempted to wait until to resume reading (only tempted). His cinematics in this update seems even better than later chapters. Hoping he does not get stuck in a loop updating previous versions. I just got passed the new accident scene and decided to stop. Hopefully I have the discipline to hold on 4 full version.

I don't know how it works in american's universities, but I find the basketball system a bit convoluted. Ok the unisex is just a porn fantasy, but then you have a "first" team with seniors and freshmen ? Next, the MC wins because of his manipulative skill, but that won't work against total strangers. And sorry but a dwarf playing basketball with normal people is just ridiculous

There is absolutely nothing that makes sense about the school "system" as described in the game from an American perspective.
