Ok, now it's time to critique this AVN.
- It's still top-notch when it comes to plot formation and storytelling. The problem here lies in the dialogue. I believe that this issue can be amended by hiring a proofreader to polish out the dialogue in this AVN. Once that is handled, I feel the quality would increase significantly. It also helps better portray character voice and the overall tone of each conversation. The more English courses I take, the more grammatical errors I notice in English fictional pieces I read. Summer's Gone is filled with them. This issue has to be handled by chapter 5. By "handled", I do not mean releasing new updates with improved dialogue. I mean polishing the dialogue of the entire AVN. From Chapter 1 straight to the latest chapter. This is an issue that needs to be dealt with before a Steam release can even be thought of. But I'm pretty sure that Oceanlab has already thought of this issue, and has taken the necessary steps to deal with it. If not, he should consider this issue.
- The subplots are steadily increasing. I admire Ocean's ambitions, but I do hope that he does not go beyond what he can handle both mentally and physically. The last thing any of us needs is for Oceanlabs to overwork himself. His creative decisions aren't that much of an issue when it comes to how he forms his story, it's whether or not he can keep up with everything in a healthy manner. Summer's Gone probably has the most subplots of any AVN in its genre. I do hope that he paces himself in how he deals with this.
- Most issues in regard to art and cinematics are directly tied to lack of funds, time, and hardware. So I will not be too harsh here. But I did indeed notice many inconsistencies. I do have faith in Ocean's ability to fix these mistakes in the future, but several of these errors are visible. Not enough to affect my experience playing this game, but some of them are noticeable.
- There are several more areas where criticism would be valid, but they're also not significant enough to require any immediate attention.

I somewhat dread Sonya's character arc as I understand where iranians come from and what the culture and the people mostly are on about and have become, so I wonder how deep Ocean is wiling to delve into the matter as it's fairly complex but with simple understanding for the native or someone who has lived with them long enough to get the culture and principle.
Bella's story started out fast along with nami but meshed so well she needs to sit in the benches till others catch up.

I think this issue can be solved in the next chapter. Honestly, these two have one of the best relationships among VN games even though their relationship hasn't developed enough yet. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Odin73 The complete transcontent is scrapped and gone - for now. In the release post on SS/Patreon Ocean has mentioned his reasons for this step, somewhere here should the last dev post be leaked. If not i can repost it.
That thought has crossed my mind to. What also a possibility is, should Summer ever appear again, is that she is complete nuts and goes rampage on a raidboss level.

I did feel that it stretched on a bit at some points though, so I can see why people would feel that the resources could have been better utilised for other scenes. I agree about the whole Sonja thing, in fact I believed her growth to be the whole point of the tabletop adventure (along with nadia's development) but there was an impressively large amount of roleplaying and worldbuilding within said tabletop over character development. because of that, I'm not sure if that's the angle Ocean is playing at...
Maybe I'm just mad Sasha, Robin and Nia didn't get screen time lol.

Did my different runs on chapter 4 now and i must say Ocean did one hell of a job.
Not only on the graphics and story but also on the music (again)
I'm a huge fan of good music in VN's since it can make that specific scene just giving more impact.
Not many VN's have this and Ocean and also DPC are masters in picking the right song for the scenes which are important for the story
This is still number 1 song for me ingame but it's just fitting how MC is getting along with Bella. And that scene is just.... WOW
Eventhough it is from a previous chapter. Had to play them again and got instant goosebumps.
But now we got some progress in the story with Bella if you choose her path this song is spot on. The lyrics just are matching.
Also from a previous chapter but goddamn Ocean must have chosen it with the intention to just listen to the song and get the lyrics. It's just exactly how the relation between MC and Bella is going now.

Agreed, Ocean's taste in music is simply on point. Developers payed a butload of money for the licences and now they are wabing with some small prints. Leap of Faith was the first who got burned. Afaik only DPC managed to get the right licences.
I will keep chapter 3.5 or 4 on back-up just to have the "original" songs in this game. So i do hope Ocean also gets a licence for/from Waykap since these songs just "belong" to Summer's Gone
I checked this game out after a year and wanted to know, how often are the content updates? I remember dev was redoing the older game or something like that so updates to this game were slow. But moving forward, is it 1 year per content release?
This update took ~8 months. Ocean has said on Discord recently he plans to have another update this year, so hopefully that proves true. Would be nice to get to where updates are ~4-6 months, I think getting those updates into such a timeframe will significantly boost Patreon subscribers for him.
Well the artists themselves aren't that much of a problem in this case, more like the publisher is (don't know if I'm using the terminology right, whatever). Most of SG songs are published on YT etc. by Epidemic. Didn't DPC get the right licenses because he had known which specific songs he would use beforehand, thus he had purchased them all so that he wouldn't get burned in the making? I think I've seen this info somewhere.

Bella's route just keeps getting better and better. MC has an actual personality, and this separates him from most other AVN MCs in general(both male and female). As much as I may have wanted it, I sort of expected both Bella and MC to have made that decision in regards to their relationship(spoilers... don't ask me to elaborate on this because I won't lol). It's still easily one of the best relationships between an MC and an LI on this site. Jill and MC(BADIK), MC and Quinn(BADIK), MC and Isabella(BADIK), along with MC and Victoria(COBD)... are the only other relationships that can really compare from a writing standpoint... so far(I have high hopes for Artemis). Even then, from a plot standpoint, our MC and Bella are at the earliest stages of their relationship when compared to these other relationships.
A kiss between Bella and MC feels much more impactful than a kiss between any of the previously mentioned MCs and their respective LIs(that's mainly because Oceanlabs is such a wonderful writer). I truly believe that his decision to relationship-build before introducing any lewd content was a great decision. When MC and Bella decide to officially get together(which shouldn't be that far in the future), many people in the world of Summer's Gone will feel it. Personally, I feel like the only other relationship that compares so far(when it comes to AVNs), is the relationship between Jill and the MC from Being a DIK. I'm curious how things may play out in the future between MC and Kindra(Artemis), but until that relationship actually takes a romantic turn, it's only Jill and MC for now. Everything from the pacing, down to the dialogue between them... Jill and the MC from BADIK(and perhaps the MC and Victoria from COBD) are the only relationships that can compare to what we've seen from Bella and MC so far. I really can't wait to see more from them in future updates.
