Because COBD has less content to work with. The cast of SG dwarves the cast of COBD. The amount of Love Interests alone outnumbers the entire cast of COBD. COBD is not only set in another genre(hence its story being structured much differently), but its story had established a different pace right out of the gate. It's much more straightforward, much less dramatically structured, and has much fewer subplots(one can probably count on one hand how many subplots it has). You cannot compare the actual plots of them both due to such a difference in genre. COBD, a futuristic sci-fi/noir-esque story involving an ex-mercenary... was set up to move at a faster pace from its introduction. Whereas Summer's Gone is more of a college-themed story with heavy-drama elements. I've already told you in my previous post what Summer's Gone was about... quite different from mega-corporations battling over an experimental superhuman. I mean one involves heavy amounts of mystery(not saying that COBD doesn't either, SG is just much more centered around it), while the other involves near-constant life-or-death situations involving the main characters. The stakes are much higher in COBD(I mean multiple main characters have died already). Seems rather odd to compare such a story to one where the MC's biggest concern is sports-related.
It's not a good plot point, it's the main plot point. It's what the main story is centered around. Knowing literally nothing about it is a part of its charm. It being a mystery is sort of the point, hence why many are so fascinated by it. We are given information in doses as I said before. You not paying enough attention to notice them, does not mean that they're not there. We know that something traumatic occurred in that forest years ago. We also know that whatever occurred, involved police officers. Furthermore, there's the fact that MC had to go to the hospital due to whatever happened. Following this, we're told point-blank that she disappeared. Almost directly following this, we come across Elsa(Summer's cousin and someone from MC's past). This latest chapter poured some attention into the main plot in more ways than one. Considering all of this information, I'd argue that we know enough - per our point within the story. Enough to keep the audience interested and engaged, along with still maintaining that level of mystery that drew in so many people. MC's internal plot thrown in on top of that serves to create a wonderfully unique story. Thankfully, this post was only your opinion. Unless of course, you're trying to argue a fact?
Thankfully, most of your views here are subjective. Because in all my time here, you are the very first person that I came across, with these views(and I've argued with
many people regarding Summer's Gone). To each their own.
It's unique as compared to many games in its medium(Adult Visual Novels in general). Even amongst erotic literature(whether that be simple erotica or other... more adventurous avenues), Summer's Gone is new and unique. Though I am curious about what other sites exist out there, that can make most games on this site appear as, in your words, "dogshit". Where, oh where, are the AVNs that can overshadow games like Summer's Gone, BADIK, COBD, Artemis, etc.? I am a writer, so I do enjoy analyzing and learning from such stories
Darling, I can list off half-a-dozen best-selling novels within the last year or so with all the elements of COBD and more. Do you not understand just how popular sci-fi and noir are for writers? Summer's Gone, on the other hand, is something fresh, something new, something creative. Summer's Gone is the kind of project many writers wish that they were capable of forming. I'm still searching The Young Adult sections in my local library(as well as digitally), for a novel that I can properly compare it to. But so far, nothing.
Time was actually brought up many times throughout this update. But I can actually see this as valid criticism(to an extent). Though how you structured it has left me wondering if we played the same game...
I understand this actually. COBD has arguably the best atmosphere(and setting) of all AVNs on this site right now. So I get where you're coming from. Summer's Gone still has some ways to go when it comes to managing its setting, that much I agree with. Everything else? Nope(most of this post was just plain wrong, but it's your opinion so that can't really be argued).
Edit: To anyone that's managed to read through all of this... I'm sorry lol
