I don't really want to sign your statement. There is actually, admittedly, a very rare species that looks for exactly these games. And SG is one of them for me.

Bro, I don't want to sign this either. SG is my favorite game, not because I think it is ideal and the author is flawless and essentially a genius, of course not, not even close.
It’s just that during my entire stay at the Zone, I didn’t find anything that could completely replace SG, which would give me the same emotions that arise when playing SG.
And believe me, I made an effort in searching. On my list there are games with a more coherent and catchy plot, there are games where I like some characters more than in SG (which is almost impossible), there are games where the graphics are no worse (dare I say, on par with Ocean), there are games where the dialogue is much funnier, more natural and fluent.
But for all this together to be combined to a product at the SG level - no, I couldn’t find any. The long-dead Connected was probably the closest thing to the impression SG made on me.

Honestly after thinking about this post of yours I might need to bump SG to a higher spot on my personal ranking. There are some LI I feel more emotionally connected to than Bella because of their story or just their character / dialogue. But For me I cant think of a MC that feels like that have as good chemistry compared to this MC and Bella. There is some that comes close to their chemistry but doesn't get to the same level as Nika and Bella for me, hell even Nika and Nami have really good chemistry too. Then when I think of the entire package of the cast of characters that we interact with only very few games can match the same feel I get from the majority of the characters here as an entire package. Even on those game they don't make me care for their characters nearly as much as this game does . Summers Gone has at least 5 character I can think of that makes me get emotionally involved in their story / characters.

Everything is clear with the name of the car, I agree with you here. Although it was possible not to delete the car, but simply name it differently. Your words regarding music seem strange. Ocean didn't buy the music, he doesn't have the money to buy it, so he rented it for 1 year. Soon the lease will expire and Ocean will have to get rid of the music anyway. It turns out all this is meaningless.

I know, right! When I play Bella's route, I wish the MC had a twin brother dating with Nia, it breaks my heart when I deny her subtle advances while looking into those big puppy eyes and having her backstory in mind

And look how he developed Zara’s character in just a few short but very emotional scenes; it’s impossible not to smile when she sits on the MC’s neck, overwhelmed with joy that they will live together for some time. I liked her after the end of the fourth chapter, when it became obvious that she would at least be a loyal and true friend, but so many people were outraged by her arrogance and unconditional self-confidence in the beginning. I remember they called her the second Bella and another arrogant bitch. And now she's as much popular as Bella, Nami or Sasha.

I'm looking forward to seeing Vic's route develop, she's a dark horse who is still mostly in the background. And she is, in my opinion, just as important to the plot as Bella or Nami, I think MC's healing and Vic's healing will be an interconnected plot.

So yeah, so far the game is not much about the story but mostly about the characters and their relationships.

Someone should make a list of everything that is actually in-game vs what is actually not. Honestly, Season 1 sounds like a mess, even though I am enjoying my fresh playthrough. Can't 100% enjoy it knowing how OG players feel, hearing about this/that being cut and Ocean being a sellout.

I just don't know and don't have the energy anymore.... I'll just continue playing it, finish it and see what the fuck happens in the future. I'm definitely not buying those overpriced DLC's though. Buying this game for $15+ is enough. Why buy 2 DLCs that amount to $10+? when I can just buy another full AVN/regular game for that or less (on sale) ?

I've yet to see or hear anything that can be validated that proves it's nothing more than the Steam version without achievements and has the Patreon link on the MainMenu (since Steam doesn't allow it). That's it from my understanding. Again, I can't 100% confirm this so take with a very small grain of salt... very small.

All these months/yrs of continuous cleansing have nothing to do with Steam. This is a personal choice by the dev for what appears to be personal reasons. This all started way back when Coach Hill's nickname for Ayua was changed from "gook". That's from my memory back in the day. Here's one of my posts from back in 2022.

I preferred the branding references - Dodge Viper versus muscle car, and Gook to - 'Ayua, I'm afraid of your mother' from the coach.

I think the changes were a combination of:

* Sanitize to appeal to a wider Steam audience

* Trying to avoid a future Patreon take down of Summers Gone the way they took down WIAB recently.

Patreon has become much more aggressive going after AVNs that were 'fine' on Patreon for years until suddenly, they are not.

Their uneven application of their own TOS and their willingness to change that TOS with little warning and then giving devs what might be a few weeks to 'make changes or else' likely played a role in his decision re: some of the changes.

I've seen one dev I follow who told their supporters that they need to rewrite part of their AVN from page 1 to make sure that they are abiding by Patreon's TOS.

If Patreon suddenly changed the TOS to say 'no branding using real world brands' or 'no misogynistic references to people of any race because that is actually the dev being misogynistic, not a character in a story' - SG would have been toast and I don't know that SG would have been continued by Ocean if there was a Patreon ban.

If a certain crowd can try to take down J.K. Rolling because they disagree with her definition of 'what is a woman', what chance would Ocean have if they put enough pressure on Patreon to purge 'misogynistic hate'...

It's unfortunate that creators are not allowed to tell their stories within the boundaries of what was acceptable years ago when Ocean started SG, but RL society has the tail wagging the dog and we are left with less edgy/adult versions of the stories we enjoy.

For some of us, what remains will still be enough and for others, not.

The game is definitely about the story. It's just this story is shown from the point of view of a particular character and tells about his changes. Everything about Summer is just a trigger, the inciting incident. Someday we will find out about her, but she is not the centre of the story, Nika is and how he overcomes her disappearance.

You do know that Ocean has just uploaded the same installer he uploaded to steam right? Except already patched? I don't have the patron version, but people on discord where suggesting Ocean remove the "steam DLC" part of the name from the patron version. I'd be amazed if he bothered to take the steam code out if that's the case, the achievements will literally not do anything without steam.

The people claiming it's a mess seem to be sitting down making a line for line comparison, and any change is forbidden, or something. I actually like Nami getting ready for gym with Jeff, it made sense, and filled a minor continuity issue that bugged me. So some people lost their favourite scenes, understandable to be upset, but there's be pluses and minuses everywhere. Over all it's the most continuous/coherent version of the story we've had where the reworks don't cause my eyes to water when they're switched off.

Nami grinding Nika in the jacuzzi, chapter 4 release, might have been bugged in 4.5, gone in ch5 beta. 1 single porn scene.

Updated my compressed Android port of Summer's Gone with Scrappy's walkthrough mod to Season 1.

Got some basic gestures loaded in: swipe up for save menu, swipe down to hide UI, swipe left to rollback and swipe right to skip. Save files are now stored in the Documents folder. This sometimes means that you may need to close and re-open the port after installing so the save folder is properly created.

Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the ports and I'll see what I can do to get them sorted.
