If the problem only concerned the organization and distribution of tasks, it would probably already have been solved. But it seems to be a matter of personal choice and the nature of the developer. Ocean had plenty of opportunities to expand the team, divide up the work and increase productivity (maybe even bring in a real author, because he's really lacking that in both his games, and even more so in SG).I wouldn't be too sure about that either lol. But in all seriousness, ocean needs to get some good help to speed up the work. I understand where he's coming from, he feels like a perfectionist for me ( which isn't a bad thing because it means quality). But perfectionists are very protective of their artistic vision. And the more people involved in the project, the more that vision is at risk of being diluted.
From the early days of modest income to the present day, the developer could have built a team for both games, employing volunteers, part-timers, contract workers or full-time employees.
A glance at Graphtreon (for stats on the old deleted account and the active Patreon account) or Steamcharts (which doesn't show revenue but does provide an estimate of player numbers) suggests that finances are no longer an obstacle to expanding the team. However, the "perfectionism" cited as the reason for delays, game revamps, or reluctance to hire staff or even set up a company, seems to me to be a dubious justification, if not an outright lie (among many others).
It seems to be less about maintaining an artistic vision than a selfish clutch at profits. That's just my opinion, of course, but in view of all the time that's gone by, the false excuses and the lies, I'm probably right.
P.S. I don't have access to SubscribeStar's statistics (or GOG either), but I'm fairly convinced that the revenue generated there is quite decent, if not higher.
Haha, don't worry, I doubt anyone will live long enough to see it. ^^ As long as he can enjoy life and take it easy, the games he makes will be around for a long, long time. x)I'm prolly not gonna live long enough to see this game get to the halfway point. Hell my procrastinating ass would even finally start writing my own script before that.
