No, I wasn't comparing anything. I was simply sayin that people blow things out of proportion. Yes, some people can't get a break. Yes, a lot of it is Ocean's responsibility and choices. But let's not whip ourselves into a frenzy over a cable as a sign that our world will end and Ocean will abandon SG. People's complaints sound like Ocean is busting their balls. There's a whole forum where there are other games while I wait. I personally have downloaded 200+ games here that I've yt to play, jus to see if they're any good. If antone's impatient over a cable, they should maybe reflect on what that says about them.

In the last two weeks, Ocean has filled up the time telling us things as they're happening, phone coding was a big one, work station another. The development is still going. We knew the game wouldn't drop this week from the last devlog. What exactly cas caused the sky to fall? I'm far more worried about the price of eggs ...and coffee. Ocean'll get the cable and unwrap his business tool, and smash it with renders to see what it can do. He's more impatient than me.

You are right, everyone makes mistakes........ but this is not our case, because Ocean is a generator of mistakes and problems. I think the problem here is not the cable, but that people are tired of hearing constant excuses and justifications. There comes a time when people's faith runs out and they stop believing words. This is exactly what happens to Ocean fans.

The whole point of the boy who cried wolf is that we shouldn't use up our social standing on trifles, so society gives us leeway when something happens. But who am I to determine what is serious for someone else? Some people can't organise themselves to do taxes even when they know they're a yearly thing - their minds just avoid numbers and procrastinate because numbers scare them.

I do get what you're saying and I agree that it's foolish for anyone to believe they have a get out of jail free card or endless social credit, but at the same time, a lack of patience and acceptance usually comes from people who have never needed to catch a break. Ocean's biggest problem is he hopes he can do things faster than he can, and he hasn't split the update into parts. if he delivered small updates every two months, people would be pissed off that not enough happened in an update. He only really fucked up by doing too big an update that couldn't be delivered in a normal timeframe - and he's already said he'll go back to regular sized, 2000 render updates from here.

But how much sky fell between Ocean noticing the cable was missing and now that he has the cable? I barely had time to catch up. If people are this sensitive, they probably think Ocean shouldn't waste time brushing his teeth, or making coffee, or going to the gym. Dev's gotta do normal people things too, like poop, sleep, drink coffee, and wait on delivery people. Last thing I bought online was only two weeks late. Go figure what I did while waiting. Ocean'll likely have new renders done while waiting, and probably will keep his current computer rendering while installing everything on the workstation. It's no big deal. And cablegate is over now anyway.

I spent the last few weeks finishing Watch Dogs, when I finished I came back here and saw a news story about the PC he ordered and about the cable, I didn't stop to read if anyone was crying about the cable, you were the first to mention it as far as I saw.

And about the cell phone, in the end this should have come out in S01 because I translated all the images in Photoshop, it was a lot of work.

Gotta understand that:

1. Cause: Ocean posts communication about dev things
2. Effect: posters start talking about how the game will never be finished instantly.
3. Bro's got his cable and is taking the workstation through it's paces now and Ocean knows jack shit about any of the waaaaah posts, and is just getting on doing dev things.
4. it's always slower than I think, which gives me time to drink coffee.

Regarding the phone, no. The phone app is so Ocean doesn't need to make renders for the phone, the phone generates in real time. We already have Ocean doing renders for the phone is S1. What happens in S2 is the phone generates based on the script, so Ocean can change it on the fly based on the variables triggered in the script, so the phone acts like all your choices are implemented. Otherwise Ocean needs renders for every possible option, or has generic phone messages.

What this means is Ocean can just script multiple responses - ie if you are frenemies with Bella or on Bella's path, or on Bella's path but fooling with Mila, but on Bella's path foolisng with Mila without telling Bella, there can be different conversations to add colour. THe basic info is the same, but the tone of the conversation will be different. And Ocean doesn't have to do a single render for the phone, only dick/boobs pictures being sent.

My mistake, I didn't check it correctly yesterday. It's not a 7z file after all, just a regular zip. Sorry for the confusion, I must have been half asleep already.

Also, a reasonably new (that is, a 15 year old) unzip v6.00 (compiled and packaged for Ubuntu Jammy 22.04 LTS) unzips it just fine.

So I'm guessing, whatever the hell esoom was talking about, it wasn't the main game archive file "SummersGone_Season1_Steam-pc_UPDATED.zip". And we still have no clue what it actually was.

Is "SummersGone_Season1_Steam-pc_UPDATED.zip" not the main file? I have no idea but you can;t extract it with the regular unzip utility on Arch Linux at least.

It was like a 6 to 7 months a go that someone posted a list of all the troubles(excuses) that Ocean used every time his work got stalled , using 1 trouble per month and that list was almost 1 1/2 years and that list is outdated

at this point Ocean feels like "Fix It Felix" and every time he's ready to start building something here comes "Wreck It Ralph" to stall it .

The people who are Ocean's subs/patrons aren't the ones complaining - as pirates, we're not teachers, bosses or clients though. That is why I am patient. I bought season 1, but that's done - Ocean got my money after he delivered, not before. And the Steam release was in May, so if we get a release by May, Ocean's actually done better than at any point in his development. When/if he meets that bar, I doubt he'll get credit, people will just move onto the next "we'll all be dead or have dead pocket rockets ourselves by the time the next release happens". What's most evident is few people actually care about the development, they just want endless content, like their facebook feed.

But it will be nice to have fresh content. Most likely WiaB first I guess.

I'll answer one here and the other below - the update is I think already aimed to be something like 6-7k static renders, with about 4k done. So it's a significant chunk. After that, he plans to go back to 2-3k of static renders per update, because Ocean's got to realise it burns good will to keep people hoping.

Ah I don't forget that, I just don't know who. Someone who has bailed has cut off their support for what they see as slow/bad development, so their problem is solved. An ex supporter is somewhat like the guy at the bar grumbling about the kids today in his beer (I'm also like that in my own ways, so no offense intended). If you've stopped supporting something that you don't belief in, that's sensible. But every ex supporter has different reasons. SOme are jaded from the dropping of the dark path, some from dev time, some purely from being unable to keep affording it.

As a pirate who buys after the release, I can only thank people for getting it this far. And I also believe that it is Ocean's main job to keep his patreons enthusiastic by delivering what they expect. Expectations management is a world of it's own when it comes to deadlines and creatives ...working as a creative in a different field, I avoid subscriptions of all kinds, I buy my tools upfront, because all the finance of subbing is a massive drain.

Anyone who supports a dev making a thing is doing something good, and even if they stop it hasn't diminished their patronage in my eyes.

Advice for advice. Post all this on the Ocean's Discord, there is a suggestions channel.
Personally, I see only good in careful planning of work, strict release schedules and time/cost estimates. Maybe Ocean just doesn't know about it, and you will open his eyes and "we" will all benefit from it.

No. SG is done with the reworks. WiaB will gave a change with the next update, how much and what the change will be exactly is something that the thread has talked for months now.

In short - no one knows, but it has happened before.

My guess is that nothing else will change in the first season which is already released on Steam. Although there may be retcons in the future chapters, like in the fifth chapter we see that Noji and Amber have known each other for a long time, although earlier in front of the MC they pretended to see each other for the first time. And in the new chapters that will come out further, there may well be changes until the new season comes out on Steam.
