The whole reason "adoption" was removed from the script was there was to be no blood relation or legal relation between the three, as incest (even step-incest) breaks Patreon's ToS.

Considering a legal guardian is court appointed, that might be a flimsy enough legal relation for Patreon to deem it a violation. You'd have a legal parent and two "wards", which sounds an awful lot like a family unit.

Oh. Didn't know even adopted-incest was against Patreon rules either. If thats the case, then yeah, legal guardian probably wouldn't work either. Its really just court-adoption after all.

But also, legal guardian doesn't have the same impact as "parent/mom/dad", and it gives that sense of there being a wall between the guardian and ward that isn't familial. Maybe thats enough. I dunno.

Even me, with my complete lack of imagination, can come up with several retcon explanations why Noji, Nami, and Nika live together without being related to each other. It may seem far-fetched or implausible to some, but then again, who cares. People are perfectly fine with Spiderman or House M.D., even though both are pure fiction that can’t stand any serious criticism. As long as people like the story and the characters, they’re willing to suspend their disbelief to the maximum.

If the last time you've played Nika was waving a gun before Marla's face - many things have changed since then.

The cult and the gang originated from WiAB - now WiAB and SG are more closely connected, but nevertheless, there is no indication in SG that Nika and Nami are somehow connected to this. Everything I wrote is just an example of an explanation made up in a minute from my head as to why they live with Noji, but she did not adopt them.

As I've said, the fact that Noji took in two kids and raised them for fifteen years by herself, with no input from the parents cannot simply be waved away as "it's not adoption, because the script doesn't say it anymore".
Actions speak louder than words and Noji's actions are those of a parent.

As much as I love reading these, it's crucial that you realise something here.

yossa999 is arguing from a perspective of someone who knows Ocean and is accustomed to his shenanigans, therefore having enough flexibility to absorb and accept these ideas and notions no matter how ludicrous.

You on the other hand, are arguing from the perspective of someone who, naturally, believes Ocean's writing is bound by logic and common sense. Let me make this clear. It isn't! Trust me, I've been where you are. I've wrecked my brain trying to make sense of this shit. You can't. You have no basis from which to start. There is no immutable notion in Ocean's world. Everything is subject to change AT ANY TIME. What you've known for years to be real, factual and absolute (such as Nojiko's last name for example) can change one day with no warning. With no rhyme or reason. Nothing is set in stone here, everything is in a constant state of flux. Take nothing for granted. Even if you're arguing a point. This why is the disconnect happens. Anyone who's been here from the start has seen so many versions of this game it's not even amusing. And believe me, we will see A LOT more.

This is why this thread becomes repetitive. Why shit like Nami and MC's relationship goes in circles. Round and round and round and round...it never stops. Because Ocean won't stop it. He can't. He has to leave room for retcons. Ocean stating this story is already written always makes me chuckle because we all know that means fuck all! It is more certain that he will tweak his story again in the future than the fact that the sun will rise tomorrow.

So let go of this adoption idea. For all we know there are no social services in the Oceanverse. For all we know you can kidnap a child off the streets and raise them as your own. For all we know your first and last name don't have to be registered and can be whatever you want on any given day. For all we know no one needs a social security number. For all we know tenants don't need to pay rent. Dev's world, dev's rules. Leave reality behind and step into this shitshow with an open mind

So you choose who William ends up with, which means nothing is really set in stone when it comes to who’s the parent of who in Summer’s Gone. Unless there’s one canon ending in WIAB and the rest are just alternate universes where you pick the LI you want… of course, a harem ending would fix all of this.

And then some of them re-written and fixed in a slightly different way in The Lord of the Rings

And some of his stories were never fixed anywhere until his son tacked these stories together somehow in the Silmarillion. Wasn't it described in the introduction part, I kind of remember vaguely? How he found multiple versions of the same story and then multiple versions of another story with some other characters, but the "history" or parts of the story in the first story didn't match the other story and so on.

This is how stories are written. They are in flux until the final version gets published. And sometimes the next story published re-writes some things again.

In Oceans case, the Steam release of a full season seems to be the publishing part that fixes the story in place. Hopefully.

This right here is what I've been trying to say. The script for an avn game which revolves around sequential updates over a period of time and community feedback should never be taken as concrete events until the story is completed. It will change, there's no question about it. Even in the manga industry the writers keep changing the script when the community somehow cracks the code behind a titular event. I do some part time writing and even though i have a beginning and end in mind, whenever i see a great show or read something really good i go back and re-iterate everything I've written to incorporate what I've learned from the works. Writing is always fluid until the writer is satisfied with his work and releases the final draft.

Or maybe it's just the experience of being in a situation where you're developing something and suddenly the requirements change when you're halfway through. So what are your options? Either redo everything or adapt to the new requirements with minimal losses. I wonder what will happen when Steam will follow Patreon in stricter rules for adult content.

Previously, in every second AVN, the MC molested a sleeping step-sister, now it's forbidden. They do it with their roommates now. It really doesn't matter to me much.

I have to admit, I haven't replayed SG for about a year. I still like the game, its story and characters and the storytelling style... And all that... But no developer can expect players' enthusiasm for their game to remain at the same level with such intervals between updates. But that doesn't mean that on the day the update is announced I won't free up a weekend for SG. However, this doesn't only apply to Ocean, I feel the same way about all S-rank games that are updated once every 14 months.

Anyway, why the fuck are we even talking about me? This all started with my innocent comment about how the removal of Nami's borderline lewd content in season 1 wasn't about Patreon rules, it was about Ocean's attempt to squeeze it into a 16+ box. Nami is still a LI, and we'll bang her when the time comes. Analyze this!

It depends on how many SG characters are canonically fathered by WIAB William. At this point, Ayua is the only strong candidate. Everyone else is speculation with no real evidence.

Then, it depends on how WIAB plays out. Just because William potentially ends up with a particular LI at the end of the game doesn't preclude him manwhoring progeny into this world with multiple women along the way. The downside is that would involve forced pregnancy to kept both AVNs aligned. At this point, the only likely forced pregnancy would be with Miru because of Ayua, and WIAB has already established that Miru wants to have William's babies, hell or high water.

A real killer plot twist would be if William turns out to be impotent.
