Dude. Give it up. You made a mistake or misunderstood and instead of admitting it, you're doubling down.

It's one thing to post he planned to work on them (which is what he stated). It's completely another to post that he has 200 left to complete (which is what you posted).
It's one thing to post he was thinking of working on some animations frames to widen (which is the gist of what he stated). It's completely another to say he still has all of them to go (which is what you posted).

You took an innocent sign-off from this stream and you exaggerated and misrepresented. Just apologize that you made a mistake and move on. I have apologized several times in these threads on F95 when I have made a mistake or misunderstood. Just do it and move on.
Guess that's why you're my more tame alt account, so I can go 100% ballsdeep on hating every1 and their mom with this main account instead

I sort of agree with this statement as a player, but as a game developer - I'm a bit on the fence.
I've had to re-write poorly written game engines. It's a lot harder to untangle a knot than build it correctly the first time.

Chances are, the programmers may have had to start working on a new game engine altogether rather than try to fix or re-use the old one. That could take months when the game has been in development for almost 10+ years at this point. When you look at it from that perspective, 18 months is actually a pretty short amount of time to build a solid foundation for a project.

From what I understand they are also redoing some art related stuff too.

Programmer (1 dude) works part-time (like most of the dev team, aside DC). He has to re-write the entire code (cause reasons) while waiting for the posers (3 dudes as of last info) do every scene (not just the lewds) with the new wider backgrounds, using the ~400+ image bits to "composite" all the girls back into not-mutants versions of themselves (no face and 4 arms, etc). All of that part-time, as said above

Bolded italics underlined : the art has been done for most of the year (check the tracker). And it's not "some" art, it's every background being ~1/3 wider, a bunch of new places (trucker bar/forest lodge/bowling alley/etc) with 2-3 variants for time of day + interiors/exteriors. Though all that isn't a bottleneck to the coder and/or posers

Yikes, that's an absolute shit ton of work. I'm not surprised at all then.

So what? It's obviously his choice. And I'm pointing out that it's a stupid choice. What does your comment have to do with anything? If we are going to be posting non-sequiturs then did you that it's also your choice whether or not to write a comment?

DC has made more than enough money to hire at least one more part-time programmer.
There are none to hire. There might only be full time to hire. He might have already done that, actually, he probably did and it's why the tech update is here. He might have hired many until he found one that's trustworthy, committed, knows his stuff and doesn't mind waiting for others to finish their workload thus getting paid for part time work.
The amount of trouble porn devs have when hiring is several times higher than other jobs.

As far as I'm aware they initially didn't plan to switch "old" animations, which still will have to be replaced later on, to widescreen in the first place. Which means every animation that was done pre 0.16. would have stayed 4:3 - it seems like DC may now reconsiders that approach (for some of them?). But of course we'll only know once he starts working on stream or once the update is actually out.

not to beat a dead horse (as I assume this has been discussed enough), but every time I see the mention of 4:3 ratio I scratch my head. What game, after like 2005, has been in the old aspect ratio?

Of all the head-scratching shit I see around this game, that's the one that stumps me the most. Was DC really trying to capture that 90s adventure game feel or something?

Nah. Back when he started SS wasn't really meant to become a game. It was supposed to be his way to teach himself working with renpy, to start an actual game later on. As such he just created a few doodles, people liked it and he continued until he basically reached a point, where it would have been hard to justify changing everything to 16:9 back in the days. Though it would of course have saved a lot of time going forward.

It may just be me, but I wouldn't even be surprised if he actually chose 4:3 simply because it means it took him less time to draw each background, etc.

By now the game is simply popular enough to sustain these updates without everybody losing interest.
