Because he is milking every penny he can from updates. It’s why I stopped being a patron, great game and amazing art, does a great job but questionable work ethic. Idk it whatever now considering not paying anymore so it doesn’t bother me as much, I just chill and wait for the updates now. Only thing that sucks is I can’t vote anymore for the content
Funny how you manage to put together "great game and amazing art" with "milking"

Please try this save and try to access the computer in the room. I have fixed it, when I try to log in getting an error and I can't ignore it this time anymore. I have extracted your mod in the Summertime/game folder. All the resources are there.
Erro:
Code:
  File "/media/Woooo/Summer_mod/renpy/loader.py", line 576, in load
    raise IOError("Couldn't find file '%s'." % name)
IOError: Couldn't find file 'backgrounds/computer_no_nude.png'.

While loading <'Image' u'backgrounds/computer_no_nude.png'>:
  File "renpy/common/000statements.rpy", line 531, in execute_call_screen
    store._return = renpy.call_screen(name, *args, **kwargs)
IOError: Couldn't find file 'backgrounds/computer_no_nude.png'.
Please open the console (SHIFT+O) and type:
Python:
config.searchpath
Do you see the game folder in the output? The one containing the images folder? It should look something like:
Code:
[<...some paths to optional content, if any>,
'<summertime folder>/game',
'<summertime folder>'/renpy/common']
If it does look like that, try disable the optional content in the configuration UI (parameter NO_OVERRIDES), start the game again and see if that helps. Check the searchpath again to be sure that no optional content is in the list.
Also, if the problem persists, we should move this discussion to the Mod's thread.

If DC is having trouble getting things ready and out on time why not hire some people or get some enthusiastic fan boys/girls to help with stuff like coding and proofreading or testing
Its not about making things done, bur about getting money. Have you noticed how he is relasing new update always few days after new month starts, when Patreon payments come in?

I see the tinfoil hatery is back in force, good thing the last thread purge was 3 days ago, it might not entice people to go batshit crazy with theories

Nobody has noticed that, because it's a lie.

0.20.1: May 5th 2020 (main story) -> 5+ months
0.19.5: December 20th 2019 (Consuela) -> 2 months
0.19.1: October 19th 2019 (Eve) -> 4.5 months
0.18.5: June 4th 2019 (Jenny 2) -> 1 month
0.18.0: May 2nd 2019 (Jenny) -> 4.5 months
0.17.5: Dec 16th 2018 (Daisy) -> 1- month
0.17.0: Nov 23rd 2018 (Diane) -> 4 months
0.16.0: July 25th 2018 (Roxxy) -> 3+ months
0.15.1: April 15th 2018 (teachers) -> 4 months
0.14.5: December 19th 2017 (Debbie) -> 1.5 months
0.14.3: November 1st 2017 (Aqua) -> 0.5 months
0.14: October 13th 2017 (Mia) -> 2- months
0.13: August 21st 2017 (Erik)

Now what?

Edit: and before you now continue your rant that update cycles got slower -- yes, they did. But DC said they would.

It doesn't really matter how many times you post that, people will believe what they want to believe.

By focusing on a character like Annie you can turn them into characters with a good story. That's the whole point of updating them. There was a point when Roxxy was some stupid side character with 'roughly zero impact on the story', and the Roxxy update was, imo, the best update to the game by far.
bro Roxxy is literally on the logo since the beginning of the development. she was the main characther

really, some people live in candyland.
I understand that not everyone has managed or at least participate in such a big project , but really people think that you can bring 10 people to code a game, and that will make the game develop faster?
People is naive af

You can see he working every weekday in stream, and if you are a patreon you have a detailed list of things to do.
Apart from all that , THE GAME IS FREE.
I dont really see the "questionable work ethic" you're talking about.
What i can see is someone really upset because he doesnt understand how developing a game works and he cant have his porn game fast enough.

I wouldn't have a job if the world worked that way.

If an enterprise doesn't possess the flexibility, workforce, methodology, or time to complete a process as part of a project, do you know what they do? They hire contractors. I contract for a living. I come in, do a thing, and leave when it's finished. Rinse and repeat, that's my role.

The fact that this update is taking upwards of ~100% longer than the original estimate should be proof enough that he's drowning and from a project management perspective there's either a breakdown in planning or productivity that needs to be addressed.

Both would be fixed by hiring on competent temporary hands.

I would understand if Cookie was in the same position as indie devs who largely have to finance their own projects OOP before they earn their big payout, but he's pulling in ~60k/mo off Patreon alone.

There is no logical argument to be made for why he refuses to hire on additional help when it's clearly needed.

I know this place is pretty much a cult and this entire post will be slandered and misrepresented but I still felt this needs to be said and I would say most of the popular VNs have a similar issue.

You're not allowed to point out that the emperor is terrible at project managing. I have for a while and all you get is vitriol despite it being blatantly obvious.

As you say, this update is taking twice the amount of time it was estimated to take. That means a 4 month project turns into an 8 month project. Usually this is avoided because going over time = going over budget. Not with patreon, hence the accusations of milking. He's not milking in the way Gumdrop or ICSTOR are milking, but he is milking because there is no pressure of a deadline.

But those of us who actually have project management experience, those of us who have contract work experience, those of us who have experience working to deadlines are quite clearly wrong because DC!!! He streams, you know!? The game is free you know?!!11!

We bring this up because at the rate DC is going the game will never be finished and he will have extracted millions of dollars for an abandoned game. Contentment breeds laziness. DC has become lazy.

@lolgotem:
DC was in the middle management in the animation business before he started this project and he wanted out of that. So it's pretty much clear that he wants to draw his own game with a small team and doesn't want to replicate the whole management job he did before in his own project again.

So in short, he'll draw basically at the speed he always did and the team will be tailored towards that speed. That also means that the speed will be the same, no matter whether he earns 30 or 80k per month. The last real funding goal was set at 25k per month and everything else is "for fun"...

The game is free, so people aren't forced to give a cent to play, while DC on the other hands gains the freedom to work how he likes. I stopped giving money to him a while ago, too, but I don't understand why people want him to change his way of working.

Is he overpaid? Almost certainly. Does that mean anything? Not really.

I don’t get what so hard to understand the updates take a months to come out because of the art. DC won’t hire another until he can copy his art style with out him micromanage them because he hates doing that. Also if you are not a patron why do care how it for the update to come out.
