The tl;dr is that the dev team had to unfuck years of code and they were using that time to update the visuals to 16:9 since, as it turned out, more people were gooning it to this game over their phone that not. That endeavour itself is now 2+ years in the making with no substantial update in sight, which made people here pretty mad and call the game a scam. Apparently, patreons on DCs Discord were also starting to ask around, so it was decided to do piecemeal releases instead of one single huge release. Basically a remake if you will, which started with the recent one that's essentially only the (not) big sister story and some parts of the reworked main story, since (not) mom still only has her old art. If it was the right call remains to be seen, as we have yet to see it they keep the promised 2 month schedule of updates to all the old stuff being implemented back bigger and better. Seemingly, that was enough for his patreons, but this thread went (largely) the other way, only intensifying in the game being called a scam and whatever else you can imagine.

But let's be real, if not before, then the thread has now gone full retard.

Alright yall I just need to know if the story has developed at all in the past 3 years, which is when I stopped playing in the vain, faint hope that the game would be finished by the time I ran across it again.

It has not, and in fact has regressed, due to their decision to remake the game and rerelease old content every 2 months. Best case scenario we don't get anything new story wise for a couple more years assuming they keep their word, which is something we should all know better than to expect at this point.

Honestly, I'm less mad and just tired, read: disappointed, of games going on for eternity in dev-hell. I'll check back in a year to see if the re-make is going well.

This is already known though. The Coach isn’t getting content until Rhonda’s update. And the teachers won’t get anything new until their route gets revisited and remade. They already said they’ll revisit and redo a bunch of the older routes that either lack content or don’t fit well with the rest of the game.

Mia, Erik and Ms. Johnson, The Teachers, Debbie, Diane, and a little of Roxxy are all going to be revisited. Some, like the teachers, Erik, and Mia will be entirely remade while others like Roxxy will just get little additions and extensions to bring them up to the level of Eve and Jenny and stuff.

As long as they have ideas and enjoy what they are doing, as well as fans have ideas, want more content, and continue to be supportive - they are going to keep working on this and add to it for a long, long time.

For v0.21.0.0-wip.4468 the only mode available to play IS cheat mode.

Correction: the prom thing is the actual cap to the main story, since that was always part of the 'main objectives' so to speak. And considering the game greatly emulates 90s highschool movies, it makes sense to have the definite end be the prom.
