so far I feel that the majority of you all did enjoy the Shortcake scenes (at least I have not seen any major complaints about it…...yet).

The Shortcake scenes were my favorite this update. Great job! The scenes focused on many individual moments, and you used different angles at the right times. Also, you seem to have a feel for Shortcake's personality.

Your words mean a lot to me as a loyal supporter of the game on patreon. Yeah, cut the guy some slacks (a lot if you will). He just pointing out some stuffs that he found odds (according to his observations). He was not that deep into the story and the characters, only on the surface level. He already had some biases and predelictions on life and the world generally, that enforces his observations earlier.

I don't think he meant it aggressively negative but I could be wrong here since I don't know what people's intentions are. It appears to me that he likes the overall or most part of the game, just have some weakness (according to his standard) here and there, and sharing his unfiltered opinions on those weaknesses.

I agree with everything you said in regards of the faces and the bodies. I also think the bodies are fine. Women with petite bodies and/or small breasts exist. The huge melons and duckface of the sister is a turn off to me. But everyone has a different taste.

The "problem" are the too young (for my liking) looking faces of Yuki and Connie, especially Yuki. Shortcake's face looks pretty young too, but not to the same extent, IMO. I wouldn't mind just her face to be a bit older looking, but it's fine how it is. Shortcake is just a freckled treasure that I can't be too nitpicky about it.

Both look younger than the average 18yo woman, I tend to agree. But first it's fiction, second tons of petite women exists and tons of "baby"-faced ones as well and sometimes both come together and form a cute petite woman. Albeit I agree Connie is exaggerated and Yuki even more so. Shortcake is on the edge for me, but her sporty persona, her freckles and her persona is just nice. Shortcake seems less naive than the melon-carrying thicc sister who behaves like a 9year old and THAT was creepy to me. Shortcake is just a huge introvert but she doesn't seem as naive but rather careful or anxious. That's a difference. Albeit sometimes (mostly chapter 1 I think, less so in chapter 2) the writing portrays it more like naivity which is a shame.

edit: And about the Pedo term. Technically if you are attracted to pubescent teenagers in the early stage of puberty (roughly 11-14 years in age) you're a hebephile. If you're attracted to 15-20 year olds that's called an ephebophile and everything beyond that is called a teleiophile. team and very little is known about me, so I did want to provide a little info about that and my thoughts about some of the complaints. (well, at least one of the complaints )

All the complaints about the expressions I totally get and somewhat agree. But at the same time, I cannot completely fault MrDots for it because of the limited time he has to make the renders and build out the script/game. It can be very time consuming to focus on all the little details like that when you know there is a deadline. Having to make a 1000+ renders as well as many animations in such a short amount of time along with everything else that needs to be done is very difficult. (And that doesn’t count anything that needs to be done over again)

I am sure if he did not have that restriction of time, he would put way more focus into the little details like expressions. When it comes time to start making another game, I believe they will want to get away from the “set release date” which will give him a little more wiggle room and he can pay closer attention to things like that, but at the same time still try and get it done in a reasonable amount of time.

I know when I was making all of the Shortcake date scenes, I really tried my best to use different expressions here and there. But also I wanted to make sure I used the same expressions that MrDots uses as to keep the scenes feeling like they belonged in the game and not just thrown in there by some random person lol. I was trying to pay attention to all the little details too as I made the scenes. (I have a bit of an OCD problem when it comes to that )

Of course, nobody knows this, but from the time I started making the renders (about 3 months ago) until literally the last night before it had to be released, the game wound up with about 270ish renders (including the doughnut images), but I made closer to maybe 800 renders because I had to continually redo them for various issues, imperfections and tweaks that I personally just could not tolerate. (Basically, because I am still learning and new to rendering.) Making matters harder, I really had no specific script to follow since it wasn't written yet, so I pretty much had to guess how things would flow, and what would be needed. I also had to deal with real life (having surgery) and my day job of course. I worked very hard on this, and the last week was full of very sleepless nights.

It is my hope that with me helping more and more down the road, these complaints become rarer, and MrDots can put more focus into quality, not quantity. I think having someone else help him make scenes will really take a lot of pressure off him. I am not saying for sure that I will being doing this on a permanent/regular basis yet since this was sort of a trial run to see how the fans would like my story and the renders, but so far I feel that the majority of you all did enjoy the Shortcake scenes (at least I have not seen any major complaints about it…...yet).

I wish I could say that I did all of her scenes, but since I have a full time job and I don't have the best hardware, I was pretty limited with some of the things I was able to do, so the scenes in her bedroom sadly were not mine. I really wanted to have more animation for my scenes, but even just rendering a simple 3-4 second looping clip in 4k, takes me 12+ hours, and I cannot be without my computer that long while I am working my day job.

If this becomes a more common thing for me, I really want to get a new GPU (right now only working with a single RTX 3060 and an older GTX 1070), but living alone and not doing this as an actual job that provides an income makes that very hard. I am very happy to help MrDots where I can and I am not doing this for any compensation, nor would I ask it of him. I am doing this because I want to see great things from him and his games, and if I can help with that, I will. But I can only do so much given my limitations.

Hopefully, as time goes on, you all will see an improvement as I do more scenes and that allows MrDots more time to focus on everything else. (If things go that way of course) I really hope we are able produce better quality content for all of you. Thanks!

Don't tell me you didn't get ANY money for doing this ? From one of the most successfull porn VN dev ? I don't care if you're a beginner : sure, you deserve less than an experienced 3D artist, but you deserve SOMETHING, like at the bare minimum 300 to 500$. Even if you do it because you like it, you are getting fucked, and you are robbing other artists who don't work for free of their job, even if it's not your intention.

In every "fun" job, people are exploited because the CEOs providing these jobs know we would do it for free : just look at the VFX and the video game industry. Some of the money would be more than decent if you worked normal hours, but no : you spend your life in these places and it ends in a burnout, because it's not a rythm you can sustain beyond 30-35 year old.

So please next time demand to be paid : if they refuse to give you even a mere 250-300$, then you'll know they're cunts who just want to exploit you.

The expressions and poses are defensible because as people (including myself) have noted it's done because of time constraints. They want to get a fairly decently sized update out every couple months. And for the most part they do. So people can deal with the manufacturing-line esque renders as they do, in the end, look perfectly good. Even if they are pretty basic.

But what isn't defensible, and the #1 complaint people have, is the writing. It's so unnatural and robotic. And it's been this way in all of their games. Too much inner monologue. Way too much pointless detail. Unnatural word selection. It's almost like reading an instruction manual at times. I do think the time constraints feed into this, but not much. Writing is more difficult than people think, but MrDots games break basic writing rules constantly.
