In all likelihood the completion of the ritual may have actually been the main goal and trying to get the most favorable matchups against HERO may have just been to inflict as much damage as possible.
So as it turns out I misremembered and probably got confused by fan theories. "Captain Mommy" was theorized to be Nyx and with Ella predicting defeat likely led to the theory that she wanted to get killed by her specifically.

Nyx's monster parent is most likely the one of the last Monster Report, i mean, if not then it's the hottest red herring we have get so far, hotter than fucking Malik.
That being said, Ella probably intended to use Nyx for her eventual return, since according to her, Nyx was far better than the real deal(Her Monster Sire) and many got the impression than Ella in particular wanted to be killed by Nyx, as that would preserve her body and even soul in her River, in opposition as being erased from existence by Malik's Planck Heat, whose Nyx intentionally stop from using that attack to she herself killing Ella, not saying that they had a deal, but is something worth remembering.

Hmm, since I was quoted about this. I might as well give my updated thought or theory on this. Possibly an additional reason Ella wanted Nyx to kill her is probably related to Black Mouth. Since we've recently learned that the previous 1st Chosen loves to make 3rd and 4th Born submit and kill them if they don't. I have a feeling that after he woke up, Ella would be his first target after he regained his power. Which is rather convenient for Ella that she is in an unreachable place to him with Nyx negative energy in her corpse. Seems like the best plan to not only keep her corpse safe for the ritual. But to also make sure Black Mouth can't use her corpse. Since the negative energy should be potent enough and lingers long enough to make her body basically untouchable.
That cupcake really changed a lot of things for me in the theory sphere. The beef the 1st has with the 3rd and 4th really makes you wonder about certain things. Like why would Ella try to raise Jake up when the outcome would've been devastating for her, if he really did reach his peak? Or was it for him to challenge Black Mouth for her?

But it appears Black Mouth didn't show up until after her death, so how could she know he was resurrected?

Have we had confirmation that Nyx's monster is the Drekavac? 'cause, from the text of his report, the Drekavac is the mutation of an older and much more powerful monster, with Drekavac's powers focused on his own survival (and that of others).
"Drekavac trace their origins to a monster from the ancient past. Many invasion cycles ago the planet targeted for monster invasion existed very close to the borders of the Dream World. A person on that planet fell victim to the monster taint leaking from the dream world and was twisted in body and spirit into an immensely powerful monster. Over this new monster's long history it spread its particular monstrous trait to many generations of progeny.
The last monster of this line eventually infected a human whose mind was poorly suited for the monster's power and ties to the dream world but had an overriding desire for his own survival. This mutated the trait and gave rise to the Drekavac, a monster with a soul so heavy that it would be tethered to the physical world, unable to move to the Dream World on death."
To me, Nyx's monster has a much better chance of being from that "original" monster lineage.

The same way she knew exactly what team was going to come for her during the battle of diamonds and built an entire plan around said individuals? It's also not like she didn't have one of the oldest Chosen right next to her as well. One that is an "Old Friend" of Black Mouth, according to himself.
Even beyond that, I don't even know why you're asking this when Ella whole character is built around knowing shit about everything. Would it even be surprising?

For that matter, we don't actually know when the Black Mouth was revived. He could have already awoken and just been maintaining a low profile during the early game. I assume we'll find out for sure in the next update when we interrogate Yuren, but for all we know the Black Mouth could have been around for years.

Both Nyx and the Drekavac can resurrect others.
It's possible Nyx simply evolved a similar ability, but I think it's more likely that her offensive abilities are the result of evolution, rather than resurrection.

There's also that too yeah. I just think it's overall useless to question anyway. In regards to how Ella of all people would know. She has claimed throughout the entire game to know more about monsters and just about everything related than any other character in the game. Like, this is something fans love to mention every time Ella does just about anything in game.
Black Mouth being the 1st Chosen. And going by the cupcake lore, if it indeed is about him, a major hater of those of the 3rd and 4th. Ella would of course seek information on him. He's a highly dangerous Chosen for her. And if she learned that he's going to come back for the Black Moon. She obviously wouldn't be able to beat him if he was at full power. If you think Jake is dangerous with his flawed version of Authority. A Chosen who's perfect with Authority would be hell.
So getting killed by Nyx would kill multiple birds with one stone. As a weaker Black Mouth won't be able to get to her body. And if he did, the Negative Energy would prevent him from possessing her until a certain time passed.
Why are we assuming black mouth hates the 3rd and the 4th? From the cupcake scene it seems like the chosen of authority, which might be black mouth, has a habit of making those of the 3rd flee, if they fail to enslave them. While they did seem very condescending in that memory, what if they don't hate those of the body but find them to be the perfect pawn? Those of the body, by the very nature of their powers, are good at adapting to a variety of situations, and environments, making them great as scouts, if not as spies and infiltrators.

They are higher tier patron rewards and giveaways. They get leaked here most of the time
Sad nobody made a thread for easy access. Never knew these kinda rewards were even there other than monster reports.
Black Mouth literally called Ella "my dear Ella" in the meeting so there's nothing that suggests that he hates Ella; if anything it's the opposite and he might actually be the "old friend" who taught Ella monster language and monster knowledge(It also matches the timeline since we know BM likely resurfaced around a decade ago thanked to Yuren and around the same time Ella became a SH). Him being one of the oldest Chonses and having spent eons in the dream world will explain why this "old friend" is old as fuck and has all sorts of memories issues(the soul/dead memories was gradually losing its integrity over the past millions of years, sth Val warned Syla about).

Oh I for one seriously doubt the Black Mouth is the one Ella refered to as her old friend.
Firstly, it's much more likely she was referring to the one-eyed, red skinned demon swordsman that was guarding her not yet activated doll back at her hideout. If you recall she specificaly searched for him afterwards in Hex's dimension, and they seemed like old pals, so I believe it was he whom she was referring to.
And secondly, I would not take the Black Mouth's ''dear Ella'' thing too literal, we know the Black Mouth has a history of dominating other Chosen, and he even brainwashes the Mc in one of the Dead Ends, so I believe he wants to resurrect her just so he can brainwash and dominate another of the Third's Chosen.

She doesn't need to be dead for that, though. Indra serves as Power's avatar, and he isn't dead.

Sure, but even if Ella doesn't die, she wouldn't have control over the body—that's why she created the doll. That's what I believe. Also, Indra is a different case. I'm sure his faith in his Apostle, and maybe the Apostle of Power didn't use all his strength so as not to damage Indra's body. It could also be that Indra's body is strong enough to withstand the power of the Second Apostle. Sorry if it's hard to understand, English isn't my first language."
